Titanfall on 360 delayed to Mar 25th for "finishing touches"

The Xbox 360 version has always felt like a second though project.
So I'm not relays surprised by this, I was more surprised that they planned to release it simultaneously.

I really hope some "Journalist" does an expose on the whole lead up to Titanfalls release. So much shit being piled on respawn who just want to ship a new game that does well and so much bs just to get there.

Now they're trying to make it seem more exclusive, makes sense. EA though does not make sense.

Respawn has to be kicking themselves for fucking themselves with this publisher after their past experiences.

I hope Respawn doesn't get too pissed off because there could just another mass amount of people quitting. I'd really love for Titanfall too be a healthy franchise with a lot of post launch support.

I know your all jumping on the "it's to sell x1's" bandwagon, but I'm pretty sure most 360 owners will be able to contain their excitement for 2 extra weeks over dropping $500.

This really doesn't surprise me at all either. It's always seemed like an afterthought.

I'm not surprised by the delay It'll give Bluepoint the chance to polish the game up since most of the dev focus WAS on the Xbox One (and PC) version.

I agree but there are those diehards who won't be able to resist. That's why it's only two weeks. To lure them into buying one.

I'm not sure why some people think Respawn should be worrying about the Xbox 360 it has had little to do with them.

Both versions they've done, the X1 and PC versions are going to be out on time.

Honestly surprised they didn't Delay PC as well. Launch on Xbone then a month or two later launch on the other platforms. Force your early adopters to buy the console if they want it first.

Can't wait for this game to drop, looks fun, more than likely will be the last brand new title i buy for my 360. Hate the fact its not coming to PlayStation until its sequel but its all about that paper i guess for EA, which they could've made if it truly went multiplatform.

BluePoint has a great track record of ports, insiders have commented on the 360 version coming along smoothly, and you cannot do anything in just two weeks that you can't also do with a patch.

This is one of the most obvious connect the dots situations ever.

Bluepoint surely did not have anything to do with the Xbone version. They deal with ports. Correct me if I am wrong.

I mean when the news that Microsoft secured Titanfall 1 lifetime exclusivity broke, the tweets coming out of Respawn employees were quite clearly laced with an undertone of regret. It was actually kind of sad to watch, because they had walked into a very similar trap as to one they originally left to pursue this project and that company.

I am sure since Microsoft is paying mucho dinero for this shit and will offset the losses of this particular game (although assuredly not repaying the damage done to brand growth), they have security in knowing they are a financial success for their first game. That said they must be a little apprehensive about the future now.

So when are we going to see some 360 footage?
Interesting way to make people more interested in the One version instead of most buying it on the 360.
So you're saying that people who own both consoles were interested to buy the last-gen version? Outside of a small group who already planned on buying the 360 version to play with friends. You might want to take of your tinfoil hat.

Let's be real, they've delayed it to entice people towards paying $500+ for it on Xbone. They would've just put out a launch day patch otherwise.

What possible touch ups can be done in two weeks? Aren't the discs already being pressed at that time? If so, they could just release the "touch ups" as a patch post release.

Pretty obvious this is an attempt by EA and MS to push people to buy the XB1 version of the game.

The day one patch for Titanfall won't be ready for the Xbox 360 version by the 11th, that's what the 2 weeks are required for.

It looks like everyone else here is thinking the exact thing that I am ... Microsoft doesn't want the Xbox 360 version cannibalizing sales off the Xbox One version, and they think two weeks will just about cover it.

It's still doesn't seem right that Vince would not sign anything less than a rock solid contract. Especially after Activision. Just seems like some of the pieces to this puzzle are still rather enigmatic.

That or they want to dodge the launch review cycle. It could possibly be a shit show by comparison to the One version. People will read One reviews at launch and project onto the 360 as the same. If the reviews are good, that is.

They better hope this game holds up on repeated plays and has a phenomenal launch, because 2 weeks is a lot of time for word of mouth to spread, and bad word of mouth could severely hurt the sales of the 360 version.

I am still a little skeptical about how well this game holds up after a week or two of play. That's usually when the honeymoon phase ends and warts start to reveal themselves.

No. I was talking about Respawn. They were overseeing Bluepoint's development of the 360 version, but must of their focus was on the Xbox One and PC version.

Microsoft and Respawn's goal was to get the Xbox One and PC version out there ASAP.

If Respawn is in optimization mode and is going to land this airplane before it runs out of fuel, BluePoint is going to need more time to react to whatever Respawn is doing. If they did space them out purely as a market strategy it is a good market strategy.

No they are saying the people wanting to get titanfall on 360 that are impatient might just buy a x1 for it with their tax money, instead of waiting 2 weeks.

I don't doubt they're regretting it. When you think about it, for a game that's garnered such positive feedback from players and that seems like such a breath of fresh air for the FPS genre, there's a hell of a lot of negativity surrounding it. 99% of which stems from Microsoft and EA's involvement with it.

The game is guaranteed to review well. You can predict with amazing accuracy what the media is going to give the next "AAA" production, it's hilarious.

It's quite easy to fall into loop holes, even for the most seasoned companies. EA thought it was a good gamble because Microsoft can pay for pretty much the entire production + profit, and even if they sell a relatively limited amount due to XBO's tiny install base up front (will it be 4.2 million by then?), they don't have to be concerned that it was a poor investment. It may however someday be deemed that it was a poor investment in the future of the franchise as a growing brand competitive with Call of Duty and Battlefield sales-wise.

Console makers have largely deemed the PC to be a non-threat. Like with Sony getting "console debuts" for a lot of indie games.

No, it was me commenting on the guy's avatar, not making commentary. Of course, a PC version is a perfectly good reason for many to avoid a $500 purchase they otherwise do not approve of, but that's a discussion for another topic.

This. It's being delayed in purpose.

Very sly, Microsoft.

Two weeks isn't going to move the needle that much. If someone was going to buy TitanFall on 360, waiting 14 more days isn't going to go make them spend 500 dollars more to play it.

I'm just happy (and surprised) the PC version wasn't also delayed, even though I expect it to be bare bones in terms of PC functionality.

Yeah, that's highly unlikely especially for a two week delay. The people that do that are most likely already planning on buying one.

LoL. It's so transparent what's happening here. Do MS/EA think we're that gullible?

GAF? No. Average video game consumer? Yes. I mean we haven't seen single screenshot or footage of it running on the Xbox 360 and it launches next month.
