Both companies are releasing their new consoles within the same window so comparisons are inevitable.
What's also inevitable is the fact that the individuals with the most affinity to a particular platform will be given that platform to review. So the person more familiar with Xbox will get given the series X to review and the person more familiar will PlayStation gets given the PS5 to review.
It's then up to you to decide if the positives/negatives in the respective reviews matter to you or not. Just because a console review is positive about Xbox or positive about PlayStation (while drawing comparisons to the competition) it doesn't make it a "console warrior review".
So only a single game in Quick Resume. Bummer.
from the review:
The PlayStation 5 is able to quick resume a game if you turn it off and come back to it later. Although the Switcher icon that some noticed on the Home menu is basically just a history button, showing you the last few games or apps that you used and starting them up from scratch if you want to play them again.
Such a lastgen OS.
The review says that there's quick resume for only one game at a time. Seems that it doesn't have quick resume at atll. Pretty remarkable for Microsoft.
Cutting off half the information to twist the context seriously should be bannable....
Comes off like a console warrior review but there's some good info in there.
No noise is a fantastic confirmation.
I wonder how useful Quick Resume really is when your games library is mostly non-digital. You'd still need to switch the game disc first before you can launch a game. That will kill the usefulness of a Quick Resume function. Besides that, you'ld still be able to start playing the game a few seconds after launching it.
Why do Sony fans do this? As soon as they realize PS might not have a feature it becomes unnecessary and useless. Instead of pushing Sony to do better PS fans have a TERRIBLE habit of making excuses for them.
Behavior like that is how you get an expansion like Mile Morales sold as a standalone game.
The PlayStation 5 is an impressive console and while many of its features, such as fast loading and the ability to run games at native 4K or 60fps, are replicated by the Xbox Series X the superior games line-up and the new features of the DualSense stand above anything Microsoft is offering so far.
Based on that makes it more impressive? Man you are easily satisfied.Hmm. Seems that its more impressive than Xbox Series X.
Please provide proof. Why? It's a genuine problem that is likely going to effect a large portion of early ps5 batches. Disgraceful of Sony to launch shoddy $500 hardware.
Wholeheartedly agree. Reading it had moments of, "I get it, calm down, chill", and I'm no fanboy of either side, lol.Comes off like a console warrior review but there's some good info in there.

A major point of the PS5 is the use of the fast I/O. Having games played of a slow HDD would make no sense. You Can't Store PS5 Games On An External Drive
Unlike Xbox Series X/S, you can't even temporarily store PS5 games on an external drive, although you can set one as the default for PS4 games.www.gamespot.com
this is disappointing.

according to the source it`s Best Buy.I think that looks like the Walmart kiosks that I've seen images about recently on Twitter. Some pics of it being unboxed. Also, the hangar tags to the left look like Walmart ones. My local Walmart doesn't have a game section big enough for one of these and has never had running demo kiosks.

Edit: Just saw its about storing and not about playing them of the HDD. Thats definitely weird.
Yes that does suck. Common sense shit really should be in there day 1You Can't Store PS5 Games On An External Drive

It looks like Sony has made it so that the PS5 will warn users if the unit is getting too hot to run with a PS5 overheating warning.mp1st.com

The IGN review video said you could. That's weird. That has to change. That's a huge problem.

I'm not saying Quick Resume is unnecessary or useless. I'm just saying it's not as convenient when you often buy games on disc. Even though every game runs completely from HD, the game disc is required to launch the game. Quick Resume will be a much better experience when you're digital only.
There's no real technical reason it can't be done, except for wanting to prioritise implementing other features first or considering it to be a waste of storage space given how quickly games can load anyway and that they have the ability to load you into a specific part of the game directly from the menus. In other words is it worth saving 5 seconds at the cost of 10s of GBs of storage being lost. Probably not. That can't be real, can it? The PS4 is able to resume a game that's suspended.
I don’t think you understand the point of quick resume if you think that having some quick load spots is the same thing. There's no real technical reason it can't be done, except for wanting to prioritise implementing other features first or considering it to be a waste of storage space given how quickly games can load anyway and that they have the ability to load you into a specific part of the game directly from the menus. You don’t read many threads here do you? Like anytime that’s mentioned all hell breaks looseSolid review. I don’t think anyone is disputing the PS5 has a stronger exclusive catalog lineup (atm and likely over the course of the generation), either—or at least no one that isn’t a diehard fangirl for team X. I’m far more curious about the multiplat comparisons, though, since that’s essentially all I play.

Because people can still enjoy from the games and dont see it as 100% necessary feature?
And explain why isnt it correct to say that quick resume for multiple games is 100% useless if gamer uses discs?
1 game in quick resume is enough for many, so more than 1 would be a bonus but doesnt add much in regular basis.
And it all spoils to this:
is the real reason why xbox "Quick resume" is needed because SSD is too slow to load games from zero super fast?
The question is: do PS5 games take ~same time to load from zero than xbox games from quick resume?
YES = then PS5 users get similar loading times for their digital games, than xbox gamers with quick resume = its a tie
NO = then PS5 users get longer loading times for their digital gamers, than xbox gamers with quick resume = xbox gamers "win"
if it is even faster on PS5 from zero to game = ps5 gamers "win"
If it is still under a minute on either system = all gamers win
