2.30 PS3 firmware is out now

So I put the PS3 I.P through the DMZ, it was a complete and utter failure. She's still saying she's in NAT3. I declare my hand on this one, don't know what else I can do.

I assume you've assigned it a static i.p. as opposed to assigning DMZ to the one given through DHCP?

I had all sorts of problems trying to change my PS3 to Nat2. Eventually did it but I don't even know how I did it in the end. Turns out I didn't need to anyway. Why problems are you experiencing that you think you need to change your nat type?

great here we go again with the bitchin......as if the demo-installation is the worst thing about the ps3 lol

i enjoy the updates...makes my ps3 all the more worth its value. we'll probably get in-game functions soon enough anyways

Yea sony hasnt done anything, at all, ever to improve the service. Its simply floundering, no one uses it and everyone complains about it.
it's just all or nothing with some people eh. i'm simply saying they could do more. and i'd pay for it.

And what did MS give you for those dollars?
An online system that didn't work for the better part of last December, one that couldn't handle the COD4 map pack all that well. DRM issues on downloaded games were you have to be online to play after a console repair.
But hey maybe sometime down the road when you and others pay some more, MS will get around to fixing these things.
some of what you said may be true, but i'd still pay $50 a year to sony if it meant i could have voice chat in mk2, among other things. oh, and speaking of DRM, at least my brother can play anything i may potentially buy on XBL with his own seperate profile, unlike Warhawk and GT5P.

Haha, what are you talking about? I play Warhawk just fine on my separate accounts. And seriously this bitching about semantics in every. fucking. PSN. thread. is getting annoying. In-game PMing and other ridiculously insignificant features noone really needs do not worth 50 dollars a year.

its quite obvious you dont have warhawk or GT5P because me and all my bros can play it on their accounts.

He's talking about both profiles having individual, separate stats. AFAIK, XBL does that, PSN/Warhawk does not. Unless they fixed it with a patch or something.

read his quote:

He's talking about DRM which has nothing to do with stats. He's also saying that his brother can't play games bought on a separate profile. I suspect it's a case of copy-pasting bullshit talking points from other "sources" which has obviously gone wrong.

Well, Gt5P i don't care about, but Warhawk, i didn't buy because of the fact that it was profile locked. I can't say i've kept up with the news since launch, but if that has changed, then it's great news.

Why not buy the disk version? I could use more lambs to slaughter. :p

this is so 6 months ago, but the disk version was $20 more than the PSN version and i already had a headset, the exact same BT125 in fact!

nowadays, i wouldn't pay more than $20 for Warhawk...

But you can't play online unless both of you buy a membership each for their profiles. Suddenly it's not only $50, but $100 if you want to play the games online.

Either way, I'm sure GT5P can be played on any profile, if you buy the blu-ray version - which is the exact same price. I'm guessing the same can be said about the blu-ray version of Warhawk either, but don't quote me on that one.

So the lesson for today is, buy the blu-ray version if you want to play the games on several profiles.

it's only $100 if my bro was a bum and made me pay for his live acct too.

then again, someone in the warhawk launch thread also suggested that both of us each buy the game on the PSN, so hey, people do sometimes have bizarre ideas!

i am SOOOOOOO fucking tied of these whiney ass bitches who complain about these ps3 firmware updates.

look the ONLY way you can turn your ps3 on and see an update to install is if you hardly ever fucking tunr it on.

and if thats the case ... FUCK OFF ... sell the fucking thing to someone who actually uses it.

for me, i'd have weekly updates if each time sony added even something like new codec support ... shit me if i have to wait mths for new features because of some xbot who wants his ps3 to be a 360 ... try dropiing it a few times untill it doesn't work and then you'll have exactly what your after

Awesome news. Can't wait to look around the new store tomorrow. Sure we gotta' wait til Thursday, but that's just a few days and d/l that MGSO Beta!

Go on girlfriend - this man speaks the truth.

...do it fucking right in the first place?

I have to update the dashboard on my Xbox360 once every couple of months and it takes me about 5minutes to download and install.

With my PS3 it takes 20minutes to download about about another 10 to install.

The Playstation Store is still a slow POS, I still have to install game demo's for whatever reason and the functionality of the console as far as media streaming and any form of in game XMB access is almost entirely absent by comparison.

I'd like to know what these firmware updates are really doing because the majority of them seem to mean bugger all from my end.

Just give up already. Sell your PS3.

I keep coming in here once the thread pops back up on top thinking that the firmware may have come out early, but I disappointed repeatedly. Just stay away.

There was a 40 dollar disk based Warhawk not too far after release and it was 30 dollars on the PSN, might still be. But it sounds like you're not that interested anymore.

yeah, that $40 disk version was a few months too late. hell, nowadays, i'd have to be seeing a $20 price point to bite.

the only reason i even mentioned that was because someone wanted to act like only MS had made idiotic DRM decisions. i mean did this guy even check my post history? i'm one of the biggest detractors of MS DRM! Still at 0 XBL purchased content!

So yeah, I put the static PS3 I.P in the DMZ, but I'm not bothered anymore. I can voice chat, sometimes, and I can invite my friends to join games; sometimes. I'm moving offa that issue, I want a good theme that changes the letter writing from white to another colour, anyone know any good ones?

Keep bitching about the free service, I'm sure a new and exciting revelation will be made at some point.

Well that how people roll, it's just sometimes you actually want them to improve shit I don't complain about the stuff in there it's all good.

Lots of hate in this thread... I don't get it? Either way VERY excited about the new store and all the things to come. (trying to keep it positive)

and to give my two cents. The service is free and I get games like Warhawk and resistance without lag or any problems... when home comes PS3 will have the superior online platform (IMO). Sony is going a good thing here... let's keep gaming at it's price as it is which is high enough already.

It's fucking worthless otherwise. If "LINUX ON DA SYSTEM" were the answer to everything, then Sony should've never included any media functionality with the PS3 to begin with because, obviously, that's what Linux is for.

EDIT: Wow. I never realized that I was going to hit a nerve by fucking asking a question and making a suggestion! :lol Seems some people are on the edge of a PS3 breakdown.

I know the guy's banned ... but I just can't stop laughing at this post.

So you want an OS to launch INSIDE of another OS? :lol :lol :lol

Fuck Linux. Fuck everything that runs on Linux. Fuck Linux on PS3. Forget it.

We have the same shit in every fucking firmware update thread. Some idiot will bitch that he doesn't like waiting for firmware updates to download and some other genious will whine because the font isn't as good as XBL or that he can't PM while playing online and his console is backround downloading through WiFi from his PC that is set to automatically turn off automatically through special user setting that the console should and must have according to him (or whatever bullshit they come up with).

In other words it's a lose-lose situation. If Sony updates some loser will bitch because he had to update if they don't some other loser will whine because he doesn't have some ridiculously insignificant feature.

so basically, everyone who complains about there being too many firmware updates is a loser and everyone who complains about there being not enough updates is a loser.

so i guess people who think everything is 100% fine is a great guy?

Unfortunately, our lives would be a lot more dull without idiots who are unhappy with firmware updates...but especially in the PS3 updates, the coverage of it has been especially negative, so I guess people feel they are substantiated in their rantings about updates being the same...ah well, for a PS3 user like me...I am happy to know the update will be around and look forward to the new store layout and function.

Who's with me?! :D

I'm pretty much excited for every new change that comes out. The new store looks sexy and I can't wait to get MGO beta off of it. :D

Yup, and just imagine that with every update that Sony releases, there are always cool stealth stuff.

Improved DIVX functionality and BC is always a plus.

The problem is that most of the complaints come from the usual suspects who pimp XBL and always have something negative to say about PSN. And since their agenda is god damn obvious me and others get baited like idiots and reply to them instead of reading the thread calmly and ignore them like we should so that the thread doesn't get derailed.

Last but not least in this thread we discuss about the specific update; it is not the official fucking thread for random complaints against PSN.

Blame the game sharing community for Warhawk and GT5P.

Edit: Oh, and the BRD versions are EASY to find, and run the same price. Seriously.

I just found out the old demos are put back on the store. I was searching for the Resistance demo a few months ago and it wasn't there, but now it's there with all the other past demos.

Wow. Context, get some.

The individual who can understand that they are two separate platforms, and should not expect the same features from each platform, is someone who is tolerable, and intelligent. The person who understands that a firmware update is not a standard system across all platforms, and will not always be the same process, is equally tolerable.

The person who says "oh my god, where in {insert feature here} already!?" is more or less being ridiculous.

These things are not easy. Seriously, complaining on NeoGAF will get nothing done, and does not improve anyones situation. It just makes you bitter, and more than likely will 'taint' your image of said platform, hampering your ability to enjoy it.

Just saying.
