...and because they win they can get away with it.

I don't think there should be ANY mandatory events so I suppose I am biased in this.

well if there should be mandotory tournaments or not is a whole other discussion. i even think the mandatory event thing was introduced because of the williams sister skipping IW every year but i'm not to sure about that.

So, off to get some booze for the Federer/Tsonga match...

Which would make for a more effective drinking game? Drink whenever Tsonga dives for the ball, or whenever Federer holds his stance/pose for longer than two seconds after hitting a winner?

Such a shame 3 of my most hated female tennis players are in the top half together in these quarters. Hope one of them loses in the final.

Dance your way out Petkobitch.

Tipsy - Nole match is high quality at the moment. Hope Tipsy can give a good fight.

I really thought he would completely break through in '08 after what he showed in the Federer match at the Aussie Open.

How is Tipsarevic when it comes to stamina and his mental game? He seems good now. Not letting important points lost get to him and he's playing hard. I hope he can keep it up, even if I still think Djokovic will win.

He can easily go 5 sets, wouldn't worry about that.
But he's too stubborn occasionally and will try to run too much early in matches.

Just happy that Roddick is playing well. He has shat the bed for too many years since his last flash with greatness. :(
When he nearly beat Federer in the Finals at Wimbledon?

holy crap. the 4-way feed capability on ESPN3.com is fantastic. especially when it's shown fullscreen on a 42" HDTV.

Did they cancel the junior tournament? They are only in the 2nd round and no matches were played today and none scheduled for tomorrow. worst. major. ever

nope they moved it indoor.

Lawl these ESPN guys talking about dancing to funky town, I don't even...

EDIT: Oh no, what is this, I can't deal with Novak getting injured.

that Wozniacki match earlier was so frustrating to watch. I don't know how they can make highlight reels of her playing -- all she does is wait for the other player to mess up or get tired. If she had her own logo it'd be a vulture or a jackal because she just feeds off whatever other people give her...

I'll admit that she is a tremendous athlete though - she never gets tired. It's actually really impressive.

So Novak gets injured, yet the other serb retires? what happened?
looks like he pulled a leg muscle early on in the 3rd set, which explained why Djokovic went on to win 8 straight sets.

his serve went from 130 in the first two sets to barely 100 in the third and fourth.

I think his toe was bleeding, nothing too serious. He was up 3-0 in the last set, and Janko knew he'd lose so he just retired to prevent further injury from either player.

Put it this way, if someone on the men's tour could get those results by having that style I think they'd probably be the best player alive because it'd be very very hard to win much matches this way. I think if she can get by on that playing style she really should just keep doing it.

yeah tipsy pulled or tore his hammy last match i think

and yeah djoko just broke a toenail hardly an injury lol

They weren't kidding when they said that playing Woz is like playing a brick wall. Her stamina is insane.

Her only problem is that she isn't at all offensive. Like, at all. She always hangs behind the baseline, never puts any power in her shots, rarely goes for winners. She can wear an opponent down, though.

But Serena won't give her the chance. Woz's style of play relies on getting players into rallies where she can wear them down. Serena's all about keeping points short, hitting sharp angles and going for winners early.

Basically, it's Serena's match to lose. If both players play the way they have been all tournament, there's absolutely zero possibility for Woz to beat Serena.

and here we go.

murray does the same thing woz does most of the times. but he can change it if he needs to. it's called pushing.

Good analysis. I just don't see Serena losing unless she has an injury.
