Ugh, today was so disappointing. Both Murray/Young and Federer/Tsonga were billed to be the two most exciting matches of the tournament.

And it's looking like they'll both be straight-set, error-filled shutouts.

EDIT: What the fuck is up with the pointless celeb interviews DURING the match???

I completely agree with the first half of the match, but Federer has been showing a really solid game since the middle of the second set. Tsonga is just completely out of it so far...

Great serving games from Roger now, no mistakes

One more slam, come on Fed, you got it in you!
He'll be right back to King status if he does that beating both Djokovic and Nadal (probably). People will speculate he'll probably have another slam shot in 2012 then

They control the media so you have to interview them.

Your first mistake was assuming any match involving Andy Murray would be the most exciting.

Is Federer balding or has the hairline always been like that?

Don't underestimate Muzza, he will straight set Isner tomorrow and will actually use the right tatcics against Nadal on hardcourts.

I wouldn't care if Murray won the whole thing.

Does he complain too much on the court for you?

That, and he's just so gosh-darn cocky all the time. He has a bigger ego than guys who have actually won majors. Plus during an interview right after Wimbledon he mentioned how he thinks players should only be allowed to talk to their coaches in English on-court...and was dead serious...

does the first match start at 12 or 12:30 EST? I know the streaming doesn't start until 12:30 but i wanted to be sure we weren't going to join "already in progress"

You are not allowed to talk to your coach at all during a professional tennis game, and the coach stays up in the stands. I think he may have said players should talk to the medical staff, if they come onto court, in English, and it's a fair point to make it easier for umpires because there's no coaching during a game.

Isn't the no-coaching rule only in Grand Slams? I remember reading that in Masters and such you can talk to your coach.

I really thought Tsonga was going to give Federer a run after he's beat him twice in a row. Wasn't expecting Federer to make him his bitch. Herein lies the problem, Federer if he plays like that can beat Djokovic in the semis, but then his a) mental block b) playing style c) unknown causes him to play shit against Nadal and have no chance. Djokovic can beat Nadal in the finals, I don't think Federer can anymore. Problem is Djokovic might not make the finals.

Nadal has a good chance of not making the finals too.

You're right, my bad. But English isn't the native of a significant amount of umpires, and isn't isn't the official language the global sport of tennis. So I still think he's an idiot.

Anywho...go Isner!

Isner, I really need you to start acting like you want to be here...

What is going on with this last batch of matches against the top 4? Exciting first set followed by complete and utter deflation...

At least Isner isn't hitting the net a gazillion times today. I don't see how that's possible for him.

Good god these errors...

Yeah, these guys are largely defeating themselves...

Why do they need Dick Enberg there? Is a play-by-play commentator really necessary? "Murray wins that service game, he's up 4-2!"

John McEnroe: *something insightful*
Dick Enberg: Isner finally gets another ace!

My theory is he sucked so bad at all the other sports that CBS "demoted" him to tennis, where fewer people would have to watch him

BTW I will never forget how he interrupted Del Potro's victory speech so he could flog the car they were giving him

Depends on which Djoko shows up. If the mentally strong one does, he'll beat Federer. If the annoyed one with mental lapses shows up, he's done. Thats the problem with Djokovic man, he's such an incredible player but never have I seen someone so athletically and technically gifted in the game of tennis have as many mental lapses as he does.
