The Autumn Wind
That was the fourth time they used the silent counter, I believe. Damn emotional ending, but I was more concerned about Tony. Sorry Edgar, but if it was between you and Tony, it's gotta be you.

Btw, wasn't Spenser still in the building, or was he seen out by now? I kind of lost track of that.

so either Lynn dies also since he's in holding (which isn't sealed off), or by some plot hole, he survives?
oh and about the silent countdown

I believe they did it for when Mason died and when Chappelle died, and maybe another character? I guess it was used for when a major character dies heroicly/unfortunately

The Autumn Wind
With Mason, it was used when he is walking out of CTU for the last time, not when he dies.

EDIT - Spoilered for the people joining us this season.

Its Kims Fault

And if you were watching the HDTV feed, you would catch the one casualty that was entirely Kim's fault

Tonight was the 5th time:

Season 1: Jack's wife is found dead at the end of the finale
Season 2: CTU Director George Mason, infected from plutonium with less than a day to live, leaves the building for the last time, an hour before his death
Season 2: David Palmer is attacked by an assassin at the end of the finale
Season 3: Jack kills Regional Director of CTU Ryan Chapelle by a terrorist's demands

I think he got fired afterwards everything was resolved with his situation. Then the security escorted him out.

Although the season itself wasn't great, I still think this is one of the best episodes of all 24.

Nope. That wasn't silent.
You heard Palmer's heart beating in place of the clock ticking.

**Spoilers about the cast**

Mia Kirschner/the sexy assassin is due to come in sometime this season....any ideas what role she'll play? I really don't see her fitting in well anywhere.

Awesome show. I never watched 24 until this season and this has been an awesome ride.

I sure was hoping Edgar got into one of the other safe rooms, but looking back, someone imporant to the show had to die in the attack. If not, it would have been a bit too unbelievable. Kim's boyfriend must the wishing he had let her go by herself now, lol.

I am glad they did a 2-hour special tonight. The first episode by itself might have been a bit of a downer. The 2nd hour definitely was that pay off to a great set-up.

AWESOME episode.

Poor Edgar :( And who is the other girl that got stabbed? Damn, that sucks. Didn't McGill fire her before Bill came back? She had it rough!

Did Chole have a thing for him? Or did he like her? Seems so!

This episode rocked because I saw many things taken care of; I didn't feel as though I HAVE to see the next episode right away. They got the hospital attack under control, we know what happened to McGill's sister and learned how her 'boyfriend' was related to the terrorists, Kim came back, Jack owned Henderson (AT HIS HOUSE!), Jack killed one of the terrorists, and they found OUT about the attack at CTU and things moved forward -- tragically, but they moved forward -- Tony is definitely set up to kick some ass, etc. etc. Plus, you have a good idea of what is going to happen next week. Jack never dies, so he won't be going. And you can bet they won't be losing Bill or Audrey or anyone like that. I'm guessing Tony or Hobbit will probably end up dying, but oh well, what can you do.

But really...
WTF is CTU going to do with all of those people DEAD? CTU is basically everyone locked in that room! That sucks! From a realistic standpoint, of course. Who is going to do all the work? And outside of that, how very tragic, all of those people died. :(

Stupid HOBBIT, for trying to act so RESPONSIBLE he didn't even tell anyone his keycard was stolen. It's all his fault!

It's a good thing I captured this, I think I'll be watching it again now. :D

I thought they used the sound of the train for that one?

"Silent counter" simply means the beeping doesn't accompany it, not that there is necessarily no sound at all.

You know normally I would have just tossed it up to
Chloe having a thing for him, but I don't believe that's the case here. I think Edgar, more than anything else, shared similar personality traits which Chloe related with. The connection here for CHLOE, in my opinion, was more like battling siblings who deep down know they still love each other. For Edgar, it was different obviously... which I think always made the relationship difficult.

Yeah but
it's all about the way they looked at each other. Of course, they'd make a weird looking couple. :lol

But seriously. When he saw the room all he seemed to care about was Chole. When Chole saw everyone outside dying/dead all she cared about was Edgar. <3 <3 <3

R.I.P. Edgar. He was a damn good actor, too

Of course,
because that was like her brother dying. A close friend. Naturally, Edgar actually DID like Chloe in a different way... this much we do know. But Chloe's reaction seemed totally natural for that sort of brotherly relationship. I think, also, this was represented in the frequent competitive nature of their interactions.

Chloe was able to bag Spencer. Why would she want Edgar? Its obvious her relationship with him was more of a friendship. Chloe is a bitch but Edgar knew that it was jsut her way of keeping people out of her life, he was her friend.

Nahh, that's just how dorks fight. Generally speaking, at least.

On the other hand, you could be right. We'll never know now. Unless Chole confesses her love for a dead man. :(

TV Guide had an article about the two of them. No wonder they did it. I bet the whole cast knew despite Chole saying they get two scripts the day before they shoot an episode and don't know which one they are using.

USE SPOILER TAGS! You said "WAS" her friend!

Yes, this is true, I forgot about that. If Chole can bang guys like that she wouldn't touch guys like Edgar with a ten foot pole. Poor Edgar. He didn't even get any. :(

I know, it sucks.

btw, awesome avatar.

Darko: You aren't kidding, either. IMO it would be better if they just leave her alone this season, she's been kidnapped way too many times

Awesome episodes tonight. This season keeps getting better and better. I'm really impressed after the pseudo-suckfest that was Season 3, and the formulaic mediocrity of Season 4. PEACE.

Reading everyones thoughts on Edgar was really depressing me, then I read this...

What about seasons 1 and 2?

1 seems pretty lame from what I have seen, very low budget, moves along rather slowly compared to now, etc. Plus it just feels like a different show.

I just hope you're right, because it means I started watching the show at the right time :D

So I didn't just miss a split screen showing McGill choking to death? Wonder if they were reference it again, or if he is just dead? I guess its possible he made it to the medical ward... but you think they would have shown us that.

At any rate awesome two hours of TV tonight.

I'm still hoping that she was the person that Robocop was talking to on the phone as he left Jack to die, since it wasn't his wife

He was still listed as a "Guest Star" so I would assume he won't last very long...I really don't know, but I'd assume he's dead or will die next week and make the "ultimate sacrifice"

sucks for them...why would they even bother opening this thread??

but I digress..

Tonight rocked and from reading upcoming show plots, we're in for more twist and turns and it's just 1/2 way in the season.
