$99 New 3DS Black Friday Deal

With more Black Friday ads releasing, it looks like most stores are getting these, so hopefully it won't be too hard to get (if you're online early or go to stores early enough).

Walmart and Bestbuy both have it in their ads.

just a quick side question:

never owned a 3DS/DS, only the original NDS.
still worth picking one up now? I mean the sheer library of games and now, low price suggests to do so.
I'm just wondering if they're going to replace it soon or something, since the Switch is some weird kind of handheld hybrid

i'd pick one up, the 3ds has a great library that isn't just going to disappear with the Switch.

Yes! It's a great little system. It also has a few features that are either unconfirmed or unlikely to be included with the Switch, like glasses-free 3D, and Streetpass (I hope to god Switch has this).

It seems game output for the 3DS has slowed down, probably in anticipation of the switch and mobile.
However, it's still worth buying as it amassed a great library, most of which probably won't be ported anytime soon. $100 seems like a fair entry price in order to experience it.

It's such a no brainer question... Like asking "Should I feed my pet EVERYDAY?"

It has the best collection of games across all platforms. It's like Steam, if you can't find at least five games you'd enjoy, you probably just need another hobby and you don't really like gaming.

If you like huge online shooters and wRPGs only then you're out of luck on the 3DS.

gotta love mexico, this 3ds is at 3500 pesos thats converts to roughly 175 dollars, lol

im getting ready to pay more than double for the switch

It's like $7.99 or cheaper if you get a third party cable.

i know its just one of those small details i really hate messing with even though its not a big deal at all. Especially since i kinda wanted to wait on the switch, but there are some great 3ds games i still want to play. (sold mine a few years ago)

Would anyone recommend picking this up if I already have a N3DS XL? I also have a DSI XL, so I've never really had the default sized handheld and I'm kind of interested in having something lighter. Is the battery life the same? Does the screen size make much of a difference?

Best Buy will have them online. Wait for the sale to go live and you'll have no problem getting one.

You don't think they'll sell out super quick? Like in the first couple mins?

It's useless...they never even got that 2DS pricedrop. still being sold for $99.

I hope they do get this one.

BTW any word on this item retaining the same price after BF?

No word yet. I will keep an eye out for you of course! Gladly. :)

I switch back and forth between mine occasionally, the size is SO MUCH better in terms of pocketability. Battery life is similar but it is a smaller sized cell. The screen size is pretty noticeable though, but it's a tradeoff as it is crisper, I'd suggest trying to look at one IRL if possible, it will bother some people but not others and coming from exclusively XL systems you may not like it.

Does Canada get the same black Friday deals as USA? I'm in the uk and I was wondering if I would be able to order one of those 99$ 3ds from Amazon.ca and have it delivered to my sister-in-law in Toronto (who can bring it to the UK at Christmas).

It's $140 CAD which is around $99 USD.

The wal mart ad has the current Mario bundle for $99 so I wonder if that'll be $99 everywhere too
To get the system X Mario 3D land for that price is pretty good

Wii u is over

Either buy refurb or $300 for one or buy a switch to play Zelda

Last years bundle for $250 was when people should have bought a Wii u

Thanks! It's it the same screen as the 2ds? I do have access to one of those...

Well, it's already disappeared aside from Pokemon. It's still absolutely worth buying for the backlog though.

you're mixing up your terminology, i think.
or i am.

library is games that exist for a system.
backlog is the games you bought and have to play.

So I'm thinking of buying this and putting CFW on it and then loading all my 3DS games on it so I don't have to carry around any games anymore and can keep my n3DS XL on official firmware. Would there be anything stopping me from doing this? What is a good tutorial for me to use?

The absolute only thing keeping me from chucking my N3DSXL and switching to one of these is the IPS screen lottery. I really don't want to downgrade the panel in order to get the smaller model I've always preferred...

It's too bad the serial number trick won't work this time...

What do you not like about the XL? If it is uncomfortable, I highly recommend this grip.

For systems that come bundled with a digital game, is the game included as a code, or is it pre-installed on the system somehow?

I already have a New 3DS XL that I'll probably use as my main system, and I'm curious if I can put the game on that system instead of this one.

That's what I'm hoping to do to.

I think it all depends on what firmware is shipped on the system (not sure if that's known yet or not.

I don't like the pixel density at all, it's substantially less portable, and the screen is bigger than I feel it needs to be. In some size comparisons I loaded on my XL the regular N3DS screen size really seemed to hit the perfect sweet spot between size and pixel density, and plus I just like the SNES buttons and faceplates. Plenty of reasons to prefer it over the XL.

Those are good reasons. :)

Hmm, has anyone switched from a 3DS XL to a New 3DS at regular size? That's what I'm thinking of doing here, but was anyone bothered by the screen size decrease? Also, I seem to remember hearing that the New 3DS doesn't come with a charge cable? Is that the case with this deal, and if so, do places like GS, Best Buy, etc. require you to bring in your charge cable when you trade in your old system?

I like the faceplates on both of 'em, but will these come packed with plain, artless faceplates too?

I'd love to rock a solid black one, but I might still even consider just getting the black one and keeping the Mario art on it -- it doesn't look bad, I just prefer a cleaner, plain look to it.

No. Pink is the one and only plain plate released in North America. (sans art or pattern at all)

We aren't getting the true black 3ds people have been craving this time.

To clarify I mean that there aren't many games left to look forward to, but if you're buying it for the first time there is a great library of older games to check out.

Why did I buy all my games digitally?! Damn.
If you're planning on trading in your system to afford the new one, you can contact Nintendo to have them manually transfer your NNID (and thus your games) from the old system to the new one. Otherwise, you can just do the regular system transfer in the system settings.
