$99 New 3DS Black Friday Deal

Do you guys think it's worth buying this with the smaller screen size to save $80 or if I've never had a 3DS to just go for the larger XL size?

Do both screens have the same resolution?

Kinda want to grab one at that price but thinking its probably smarter to just wait it out and hold fast for the Switch. I already have an OG 3DS XL that works just fine.

Not sure if this has been noted in the thread yet, but Amazon's product info for the black n3ds cites November 24th 2016 as the release date. This seems like a pretty strong indication that it will go live sometime tonight? 12am-3amEST

Didn't notice Walmart had a deal for these as well. I just checked with the one that's literally 5 minutes away from me. Asked if they knew how many units they'd have, but their delivery trucks won't be around until just about the time they open up. Crossing my fingers that it'll work out. I'll probably wait as early as necessary so I can be one of the absolute firsts in the store. Haha.

All of their doorbuster styled sales will go live tonight. Thursday is now Black Friday.

Is this a BF deal only? Also, what are my chances getting this on Amazon.

No official announcement, but all signs point to it being a BF deal. Best Buy will be your best chance. Amazon will sell out in 30 seconds or less.

Hoping I can snag one. OG 3DS Fire Emblem is pretty and I love it, but it's time for me to get something a bit more comfortable. Plus better 3D is nice.

I keep reading amazon will sell out so fast. Any reason? I can't understand this being that hard to get aside from intitial demand. Amazon said they have a small shipment? Nintendo said one day only price? Only for Black Friday? Wtf is going on.

What do these retail for when not BF??

~$179.99USD I think is the current MSRP for the standard n3DS, I believe. I may be mistaken, as they come out in North America so seldomly that I'm not sure there's been a standard price... Though I think that's how much the recent Super Mario 3D Land one has been going for (I didn't check).

n3DS XL MSRP is definitely $199.99USD.

This $99USD price is really good.

More than likely going to pick one up, but I'm also wondering why there hasn't been any N3DS XL nor 3DS XL on sale at all for Black Friday. Only thing I'm a bit worried about is how small the normal N3DS is and such.

If Amazon/Nintendo were to drop the Amazon exclusive Lime Green XL to $149.99 for the holidays, I'd go that route myself -- I've wanted that since its Japanese debut and was kind of taken off guard by Amazon suddenly selling it this fall.

My drive to get one of the $99 Black Friday ones is driven heavily by curiosity of the smaller form factor as I've not owned a regular sized n3DS... I am somewhat of a huge fan of the system and I've been through a lot of 3DSes over the years, but that's the one model I've had zero experience with. I hear some users prefer it from an ergonomic standpoint, some report that the screens have tighter pixel density and color accuracy (never seen an actual measurement of this) and aesthetically I love the full color buttons.

Definitely want a black one for myself, but if I'll join the "snag more than one and sell them at cost + shipping for people in this thread" bandwagon. I'm hoping it's not that crazy.

I would assume that scalpers will instantly grab all possible Amazon copies to flip at a higher price. That plus anyone who actually wants it will be trying to beat the scalpers, plus doesn't Amazon usually sell out of good deals very quickly anyway?

Yeah I'm worried about the screen size. I'm tempted to spend the extra money to get Super Mario World XL:

but $99 is too low to pass up. If I don't manage to get one I'll just get an XL and not be too bothered by it.

Is this your first Black Friday? Not trying to be rude, it's just that it is always this way for BF deals.

For some reason I thought that someone said it was being released on Thursday at 3AM, ie: tonight. That's why I was confused, but I assume that it's actually Friday at 3AM.

Edit: I apparently assumed wrong. I guess it really is tonight at 3AM?

How much did you get for it?

After +$5 coupon and -$9.00 for power cable, I got $92.66 or something like that. Obviously would have been more if I had an extra power cable.

im thinking i can get it done in seconds on bestbuy.com if i go there right as it goes live. They already have their deals going so traffic shouldnt be that much increased. I have faith i can get it done. Ill have to stay up till 2am but thats fine.

Exactly same boat here. The bolded above applies to me (minus the "somewhat"; I am a huge fan of the 3DS, it's my favorite gaming platform of both the current and last generations).

I currently have a black N3DS XL and I love it. The only thing about it that makes me slightly unsatisfied is the TN displays, and although I'm perhaps the least person bothered by the 3DS's low resolution, and I think the colors and image look great in 3D (the top screen looks awful to me in 2D however, so I always keep 3D on), knowing that there are units with "potentially better" screens out there makes me want to keep trying to acquire one. I say potentially better because I've read differing opinions and advantages and disadvantages to both TN vs IPS, and some say the difference is really minor. Still I'd like to see them side by side in my hands and make up my own mind.

It doesn't look like these BF N3DS models have IPS screens, so I'm not hoping for that, but I'd still like to compare the black one to my XL, and keep whichever I prefer until hopefully one day I either luck out with an IPS one or find a second-hand one for a reasonable price (they're going for $300+ on ebay).

I thought only Best Buy was starting theirs tonight since they start Black Friday on Thanksgiving. Is Amazon definitely gonna be available tonight too? If so then I'll just sit on both sites.

You're probably right. I just don't know when Amazon's start. That's why I asked :D

Oh lol I thought you were saying Amazon starts tonight and thats where you are getting it. I have no idea about the start either so I'll probably just look at all the sites I can tonight and see where I can actually get it.

I did the Toys R Us $100-for-85 gift card thing. It's a big gamble but if it pays off at least I should have it plus the adapter for under $100.
