$99 New 3DS Black Friday Deal

I'm stuck at work but one of the two local Targets shows in-stock where I live via BrickSeek.

It's probably true, that one gets way less traffic than the other -- the other one that doesn't show in stock is in the more gentrified, upscale section of town whereas the one that shows in stock is an older, more run-down Target (but I wouldn't say it's in a crap neighborhood).

Toys R Us also gets pathetic foot traffic here in this city generally speaking so I'd imagine if they got stocked as well as some other GAFers are saying, then there's probably still plenty left. However, the only Toys R Us is just a few buildings away from the Target that's sold out, so maybe savvy and desperate shoppers that couldn't get one at the sold out Target are trying at Toys R Us since it's in the same shopping complex.

No luck at BB or Target, but I didn't really try. Got all the games I wanted though. Will be queuing up at GS super earlier...Can't wait.

Yeah, thats the one that i meant. It can be played on 3ds right? Sorry, vita person.

Yes DS games are fully playable in all 3DS models. Now I wonder how my DS games will play on the New 3DS, because owning a DSi and 3DS XL I want see how good (or not bad) could be in a small console.

For Canada-Gaf, I got one today at the Walmart in Welland, Ontario. They still had approx. 10 left (5 of each color), so if you're in the Niagara region give it a look.

DS games look crappy on 3DS unless you're playing in 1:1 pixel mode. This is an instance where at least playing in 1:1 is better on XL because the game screen won't be so tiny.

was stuck with family till 8pm, swung through TRU and Target, blown out.

to add insult to injury, Target still had a AC: HHD bundle for 200... noooope

My post in the Black Friday thread:

Just returned from my night out of shopping. Man the 3DS deal has got to be the hot item this year.

Best Buy was the first place I went to try and get one and a group of guys took what looked like all of them. The store didn't even have that many, I think it was only 6 total. (Yes, people glared at them horribly, including myself lol)

Second place, Target, had a huge amount of them. I mean lots, like at least 5 big boxes full of them.

The system for purchasing them at Target, while more inconvenient, was definitely more fair since all the systems were held behind the counter.

Toys R Us OOS
Best Buy OOS
Walmart OOS (fuck that manager, he lied to me)
Target OOS

Gamestop is the only one left, hope they got the most shipments.

EDIT:

The Target I went to, they had all their units out on a rack, noticeable by the completely empty shelf where the 3DSes were. Each store probably runs things differently. At the Walmart I went to, the staff had lines setup around the store for different electronics.

White is Walmart exclusive, no?

From what it's sounding like, people are having way more luck at Walmart and Target than Best Buy.
I got mine at Best Buy but it was within the first hour of opening and they only had about a half dozen left. Just got one for my wife and another guy got one for his daughter but a lot of others were getting multiples, so seemed scalper heavy.

rofl, I just went to my local target across the street and got the last 3ds(black). There were a decent amount of people there too.

edit FUCK, forgot a charger

Yeah, at my Best Buy there was just a group of dudes who were nonchalantly like "oh, we already have New 3DSes, but we were planning on snagging these for our buds who didn't feel like coming, lol," and most of them ended up missing out when the rep actually started handing them out.

Damn I want this now! I wanted the black one but then I realized that the Smash 3DS faceplate only comes in white but the Zelda faceplates (Majora's Mask and the Triforce ones) are better suited for black - decisions, decisions. Going to head out later and see if there are any left.

Just snagged one from my local target. I snagged the last one after the guy in front of me kept getting his card declined. He left and I was there to ask the clerk for it. Incredibly lucky timing on my part.

I'm guessing you're one of those people who don't put their keys in their back pockets.

Late on this one, but I don't even leave a wallet in my back pocket the moment I sit down somewhere I can safely take it out.

I'm definitely sticking around to hear more reports if these are 100% TN panel models. I thought it would bother me for the longest time, but I'm ready to be happy with consistency. Plus, the IPS scanline effect on my XL drives me bonkers.

I hope brick and mortar shoppers are having some luck today.

A point of frustration for me (and probably other 3DS owners and potential future owners) is that what Nintendo should do is just do a huge shipment for Black Friday, and just replenish stock for $99 until Christmas eve. Then do a permanent price drop from $170 to $150 or $130.

Basically it introduces the console to hundreds of thousands of new fans, and it makes people happy who want a second or third console because they love it.

It half feels like an attempt to prove there's still a market to some investors.

Nintendo isn't going to support this console after next year so they really don't care how many people are introduced to the system. They just need units sold to tide them over until Switch gets some headway

I don't see the switch replacing the 3DS. I don't think the 3DS is going anywhere for at least a few more years.
