lol! hey im in austin too! not my listing i promise. I did manage to grab a black one from a east i35 target at about 9pm or so. they had like 7 of them and was no trouble to get it . it's beautiful. really love the black. i think it makes it the perfect handheld (had the white before which I'm hooking my brother up with who is gonna start playing pokemon with me).

I've got a few more coming from online that I'm going to be selling to some friends at cost and if I have any leftover, I'll hook gaffers up at cost + shipping. scalping these is redick.

Because it's cheaper to buy screens in a mixed lot, especially when 90% of people won't notice.

Honestly the 3DS screens are terrible regardless of whether they are IPS or TN.. worse than iphone gen1 panels

we went to the arboretum target first and it was a madhouse, even around 830-9. Most product gone, so many people.

then went to the east austin one and it was easy as could be. plenty of product. not a lot of shoppers. the mueller best buy was pretty easy going too (though they had no 3DSs of any kind)

IPS panels on the regular new 3DSs are extremely rare.

There's a pretty big difference for me, probably because I use 3d more often? Switching to 3d on a TN 3ds slightly mutes colors. IPS displays keeps color the same whether in 2d or 3d mode. I also like the punchier colors on my IPS 3ds.

Same here. Have a a new xl and the top is IPS which is easy to tell by comparing to the bottom screen if I turn to an extreme angle. I would have never checked or known had someone not pointed it out on here.

i checked it to score mine from earlier tonight. it said there was 11 black when there was actually 7 in the case. i think the others were floating around in people's carts who hadn't bought them yet. you can call the store first to confirm, but it worked great for me tonight.

i believe it should update pretty regularly. when I left for that store the number was at 12, by the time I got there it was at 11 (on brickseek)

Mmm-hmm. That'd be why I didn't buy a 3DS before this current deal -- I won't pay more than $100 for consumer electronics with a TN panel, and refuse to do the "panel lottery" thing. So, there's a solid $150+ Nintendo has pissed away with their awful supply chain management and customer hostility.

I bought 3 of them for this reason. Hope I get one with at least a top IPS screen. Not everyone will be bothered by it I guess, but I compared my old TN 3DS with a new IPS XL and the difference in quality was pretty big to me.
