Wal-Mart and Target both have a constant supply of the Mario N3DS bundle for $149.99. It's an exclusive to those two stores.

I'm in the New York metro area. Specifically, White Plains, NY, which is a bit north of the city. We've got no shortage of Targets and Wal-Marts here.

No Target store within 100 miles of me has that bundle in stock. (I remember checking a few weeks ago; a not-so-local store had a few left but no other store in the area did.) No Walmart within 50 miles has it in stock. Neither store has it available for shipping. So I'm not sure what you mean by "constant supply."

I have never seen a company give such a big finger to their most loyal fans.

I am actually downgrading from a N3DSXL because it's such a pain in the ass to lug around the XL in my pocket. I also rarely use 3D.

Unfortunately Nintendo doesn't sell the plain Black or White cover plates on their own outside of Japan, and even then you need to go through their support site like you're buying a replacement part.

I'm disappointed with the build quality of this thing. It's inferior to my original 3DS in every respect except for the faster internals. Does anyone else feel the left stick is too sticky? Also I'm seeing a lot of ghosting in Luigi's Mansion. Is it just me? I'm getting paranoid I might have gotten a defective unit.

By constant supply I mean I have noticed them constantly at local stores and have read posts online by people noticing them after the initial launch. Looking online now it seems they are out of stock but I saw a case full of them about three weeks ago.

It hasn't been cancelled so I think I'm safe. Amazon says I will get it on Tuesday and it hasn't shipped yet so that is fine for now cause another item that I have coming on Tuesday hasn't shipped yet either. I think I'm in the clear

I haven't played the 3DS Fire Emblems, but the consensus is that, gameplay-wise, Conquest is the best of the 3DS FE's. It's also apparently the closest to old-school FE.

were TN and IPS introduced in New 3DS lines? What screens were used for OG 3DS and XL? The only New 3DS I've seen is a friend's XL and it must have been IPS because the 3D effect never split when I tilted it in realistic angles that I play at.

Ghosting is common in pretty much any unit, but yours sounds worse than average, I'd say...normally, it's worst with bright objects on dark or black backgrounds.

I got lucky on mine, I see almost literally zero ghosting!

Mine is definitely a TN, but my old 3DS XL (Zelda ALBW edition) had TN screens as well so doesn't bother me too much.

On a side note, I'm really liking the N3DS - better build quality, faceplates (ordered the Triforce one), and just the overall speed of the thing. Need to get used to the smaller screens and size but I do enjoy the better pixel density.

This might have been mentioned before, but I saw a commercial during Modern Family that advertised this model with a $99 price tag which leads me to believe that this has to be the new standard going forward. If you didn't get one today I can almost promise there will be more soon.

IPS screens on Regular N3DS are extremely rare in general so I am going to say this new system won't be any different.

Nintendo makes really limited quantities of stuff available, so if you don't get in immediately, its easy to miss out. I'm bummed I can't get the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition unless I pay a high price on Ebay. Its the only one where all three games are on one cart (without having to rely on DLC for the third path) and I bet Nintendo doesn't do a reprint.

It's easiest to tell the difference by looking at your screens at an angle. Even small angles shift the colors a lot with the TN displays. Here's the mario 3ds compared to my xl with an top ips screen

Don't really care about the NES Classic but I wanted the N3DS because it's the first time that the smaller variant is available in the USA in black, and I got tired of the sluggish processing of the old models. Also, it's $99 and I play a lot of Smash 3DS so the c-stick and increased performance helps a lot.

I don't have a comfort issue but I just can't take the low PPI screen of XL anymore, especially when I can see the individual fking pixels. Figured this would be the perfect time to switch back to normal 3DS.

This is my second reason. Pokemon moon looks like shit when they zoom in on the faces of characters.

I like the size of the n3DS screen. Doesn't seem terribly small to me from that photo.
