$99 New 3DS Black Friday Deal

I know this is a long shot but if anybody snagged an extra I'd gladly grab one. Probably going to make a post in the B/S/T thread too.

Part of me wants to find one of these despite me having a N3DSXL, decisions....

Im downsizing from a N3DSXL.

I did the same. I guess there is a lot of downsizing going on reading through this thread.

I did the same. Not one regret.

I did too. Going from a n3ds xl to the n3ds.

Other than the faceplates and size/weight, is there anything else that makes the n3DS a better pick than the n3DSXL?

Better PPI for the N3DS. I like the look of games on it better than the N3DS XL personally, but that's pretty subjective. Otherwise, that's pretty much it. Maybe the fact that the N3DS are matte and not shiny surface?

Amazon is saying my order is Preparing for Shipment now. I should have gone with one day shipping instead of two to save myself some stress, but Amazon has rarely failed me.

Pick PC transfer when asked about the SD card, and then just take out the card that's already in there and put in the old one. You will need to take off the back cover, so have a screwdriver handy.

I'm not sure why Nintendo pretends micro SD adapters don't exist.

I'm doing the transfer now, did I have to put in the old card in the New 3DS first? I copied everything to my PC beforehand.

They were back in stock for WalMart for probably less than a minute just now. It said the pre-order was for December 15. I wonder what is going on with the stock there that it keeps showing up and disappearing.

The guy I was talking to already had a micro SD in the old 3ds and wanted to use the same one in his new system. If you are moving to a new card, you can just transfer everything on the PC.

I don't know if it's just the N3DSXL that I have but the display on the N3DS flickers a lot less with 3D on. Both are TN displays.

Makes sense then, thanks.

last night when they came back in stock at walmart i added one to my cart but it gave me an error when i tried to check out then it said item out of stock.

just went back on the site and it says i have 1 item in my cart. click on cart, nothing there.

they are just taunting me at this point

If anyone still wants one, I suggest squatting on Wal Mart. I've seen it become available for mid-December delivery twice in the past 15 or so minutes.

Saw that as well but I'm missing it each time. Still having hope for a completed order.

Edit: JUST GOT ONE!! Here's hoping I don't have to wait until the 16th.

I need to check that 3DS homebrew thread, you can have snes, genesis, game boy, GBC, game boy color games on the system running near perfect / so so right?
have they put DS games on it as well? :o that would be amazing to save time from carrying carts.

had another one in my cart. try to check out and it says it's not available again.

this is fucking lunacy.

You're already fully logged in with saved card credentials as well as billing and shipping address, right? At this point its probably just a matter of how fast you can click the buttons

EDIT: Up right now

yep. and it fucked me again as i hit placed order.

I did the transfer but the New 3DS is stuck in this SD Card instructions and won't let me power off naturally or go to the home menu. I put all the source data from the old card into the new 4GB SD card aside from the "title" folder just in case, nothing.

What does it want. My Nintendo Account via the website is still there, thank god.

To clarify I'm at the prompt where it says:

Please confirm that you understand the instructions before turning the system off and removing the microSD Card.

Other than the faceplates and size/weight, is there anything else that makes the n3DS a better pick than the n3DSXL?

Same PPI on a smaller screen so it's sharper. Better for me as I play a lot of theatrhythm with stylus so the smaller area makes for better gameplay. Smaller size makes for better gameplay in any game where you need to use one hand to hold the 3ds and one hand for the stylus. Tight hinge.

Got one at toys r us on Thursday and I wanna leave some impressions

Coming for owning the animal crossing n3ds I can say that the black n3ds is THE BESt design hands down . It also feels great in the hand and looks good .

What a steal for 99 dollars

Yup! Really like the look of the black one more than the white n3ds that I had

Coming from an Animal Crossing N3DS and ordered black as well. Really excited about it. Ended up importing the plain white faceplates from Japan. Will probably do the same for the black one.

The only thing I hate about the black one is the silver screws on the backplate. I wish they were black like my LL

I've had a white N3DS for a while with the grey felt mario faceplate, and I'll never go back. All systems should have replaceable felt finishes, it makes them so comfortable in the hands.

Let your OCD take over.

So, I've been out of the loop with the 3DS for awhile. I have an original XL that's on the shelf, it's not really portable and it kind of just sits there. I haven't updated the firmware in over a year, either. I was intrigued enough by the price to hop on a Walmart order, and I have a few questions:

1. What's the easiest way to transfer all of my purchases and saves over? I'm probably going to opt to get a bigger SD card right from the start.

2. What's "new" with the New 3DS as opposed to the original XL? Is there anything the new one doesn't do? Can it still play DS titles?

3. How is the SNES emulation from the E-Shop?

Admittedly, I haven't done any research or looked up reviews, which I'm going to do now. Just figured I'd jump on the purchase while I can and then if it's something I don't want, I'll cancel before it ships.

Thank you!

I can only answer number 2. For the most part, a lot of it is the same, but there's a second "c-stick" that has some functionality in some games, like Metal Gear Solid and Smash Bros. It's more of a nub, that can receive directional inputs, it doesn't actually move like the actual c-stick in the console. It can play SNES games. 3D is better. The menus are a little faster because of a bumped CPU. It has a couple of exclusive retail games, in fact I can only think of one (Xenoblade), on top of the SNES games. Nothing too major, admittedly, but it's still an upgrade. I'm pretty sure it's backwards compatible with DS, but not 100% sure.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I got the system for two reasons: snes virtual console, and fire emblem.

Having played 5 snes games so far, I am very happy. Controls are precise (my biggest concern), sound is perfect, graphics are fine, though theres no "strech" mode for the screen. Overall 85/100. Wish they had more selection (WHERE is super mario rpg?)

1. System transfer. If you dont care about getting homebrew/CFW for the O3DSXL just update it to the latest firmware and begin the system transfer. When you start the instructions are pretty straight foward

Picked this up from Walmart today and just my luck, it came damaged. The L button is stuck. I'll try to exchange at Walmart but seeing as this is limited and they're likely out of stock, I don't know if this can happen. What are my other options?

To add to this... They don't have a stretch mode, which is good. They also have a pixel perfect mode, which is even better.

1. Use the built-in system transfer tool on your XL, and manually transfer the files on its SD card to the New 3DS's micro SD.

2. The New 3DS has "super stable" 3D, which uses face tracking to keep the 3D effect from breaking when you move your head or the 3DS. It also has a second set of shoulder buttons and a little c-stick nub built in for games that supported the Circle Pad Pro, as well as a faster processor and more RAM. Certain games have better performance on the New 3DS because of that. There are a small handful of games exclusive to the New 3DS; only two of them have physical releases - Runbow and Xenoblade Chronicles. Any game that can be played on an "old" 3DS can be played on a New 3DS, DS games included.
