I think a remake is something safer than to bring it to open world, multiplayer or to put microtransactions, season passes, NFTs and/or microtransations on it. Plus being a shorter and smaller game than what AAA games are today, in terms of budget it's also a safer bet for them.
Let's hope that instead of being barely a remaster like the Prince of Persia one, this one gets fully remade both in gameplay and art. Being something 'smaller' and always set in small rooms is a great opportunity to push the visuals into something super crazy specially considering what can be done today with modern lighting.
