Biggest case of Buyer's remorse?

Wii, Resistance, Motorstorm and well, the Ps3.

However the PS3 not so much as it now serves as the Main DVD/Blu-ray media center, but when it comes to games, not so much (Yes I have Uncharted and MLB-08).

Wii? Ha! the fad wore off in our home rather quickly and after nearly a year of "playing" everybody votes (or whatever it's called) and surfing youtube, I Ebayed it for profit.

Resistance (Boring) was part of the bundle which I beat then traded for Motorstorm which I loathed (loading times) which begot Uncharted (which was "okay")

Magna Carta....what a pile of shit that was. I sold it within 2 weeks. I haven't turned that sour on a game that fast in a while.

For me, it was the Voodoo 3 I bought with my own money in high school right there at the end of '99. I'd never spent that much on any single piece of computer equipment before and even before I'd got it home I was running through my mind what else I could have done with that money. By the time I actually pulled up to the house I was almost ready to go straight back to the store. Unreal Tournament, however, changed my mind almost instantly.

How long do you have? :lol

Going back to the NES days I'd say Operation Wolf. I loved the Arcade game and wasted a birthday present on that POS.

Other older games I regret are Rocketeer on SNES (Another wasted birthday present. I loved the move. That's my excuse.) Mega Man X (Good game, but I spent $85 for it at Toys R Us and found it two weeks later at Wal-Mart for $60) Guardians Crusade on PS1 (If you don't know what it is, consider yourself lucky) South Park on N64 (Show was good, how could the game fail?) Independence Day on PS1 ($5 on clearance and I still felt ripped off) N64 RAM pack (Didn't own a game that supported it but had to have it...) Freekstyle on PS2 (Its SSX with dirtbikes minus the fun!) and more recently pretty much every 360 game I've bought through GameFly. For some reason they're a blast when I'm renting them but as soon as I hit "Keep It!" they cease to be fun and I end up selling them to GameStop for money for Marketplace point cards because I spent all my fun money buying games from GameFly!

Not really remorse, but if I had known before how this gen would turn out, I would not have bought both PS3 and Xbox360 (against a new PC). Doesn't mean I don't like their exclusives though and I did buy both with the intent of being able to play those. But now I can't play Crysis, goddammit. :P
(and I don't like the added bullshit that comes with both systems that one can avoid on the PC)

PSP is a slight remorse though. Crisis Core wasn't really worth the purchase. Good thing the God of War game was.

But the biggest is definitely SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (2006, Xbox360) at full fff-in price. I have never had to trade in a game before in my live until this one. :(

Biggest?

Superman 64.

I didn't think it was possible to screw up the flying like that even though all reviews indicated they had.

But you can't really have buyers remorse on a title you expected to be awful. So I guess I'd say Zak and Wiki.

Blasphemy, I know. I loved the art style and it's charm, but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. Too little like a P&C adventure title, with some really crappy Wiimote usage.

I liked how the difficulty ramped though. So, yeah. Trauma Center I never got great at, but I still loved. Every Wii title I have in my collection feels like it belongs there, except Zak and Wiki. By all rights I should have loved it, but for some strange reason can't stand it.

Atari Jaguar. Sure AVP and Rayman were pretty awesome but trying to extol the virtues of Power Drive Rally and Kasumi Ninja really killed part of my soul. I feel even worse having convinced a few friends to get the Jag as well.

As for games, SSBB is a big disappointment. It's just not my kind of game. And I've learned that no matter how much other gamers love Zelda I just don't care for it. Luckily, I only rented Twilight Princess.

I'm looking forward to regretting my upcoming purchase of NHL 2K9 for the Wii. I know it won't live up to my expectations. I know the graphics will be average. I know the motion controls won't work they way I want yet like every other Canadian with a Wii it'll be a day one purchase for me.

Fuck.

*Voices some controversial opinion about some popular game sucking / being boring / some system not having any games that interest me, thus sucking*

Yea, that sums it up.

Hardware: 32x

Software: Gunvalkyrie or Lost Planet. I'm really selective with my games, though so not too many regrets there.
Felt the same about GunValkyrie, but only paid $10 bucks for it. So that didn't hurt at all.

Zak and Wiki was $40 that could have went for something useful. Like some pot. God some people are going to hate me.

Oh let them have their fun.

They deserve it.

Can you please elaborate on this one?

You puzzle me.
i puzzle me too

i think its just that when i do use a handheld, its within my house, which i think defeats the purpose of one.
when then makes me not want to play it at home.
its horrible logic, but oh well. :(

and for some reason, handheld games don't pull me in as much as console ones do

I can understand that.

I felt the same way until Hotel Dusk. Then I saw they could be used quite well to convey just a deep of an experience as a console. Deep thematically. Well... reasonably deep.

It was about as cheesy as most console games plots. With an art style that really worked for the medium. Interactivity with the 3D environment was pretty high too. I liked it more then some did.

They can be used to create a mesh of console and handheld gaming, but they are rarely used to that advantage. Monster Hunter for the PSP gets that right from what I can see. Console experience with handheld centric ideas.

At first, it was my PSP. I actually got it as a gift, but I picked it out. I only had Killzone and Ratchet to play on it at first, but then the uber-awesome line-up last year hit and I was more than satisfied. Now if we can just get some games this year.......

Bomberman XBLA - nostalgia got to me, I don't really play it enough
SLI motherboard and Nvidia cards - I spent way too much money on this shit when I knew I was likely giving up PC gaming, now neither are capable of running any of the new games reliably
PS3 - I bought into the Uncharted hype (made worse that I got the game for free with PS3 purchase) and for the first 2 months after finishing Uncharted the thing went unused. Now that I have a new receiver I finally use the PS3 to watch movies and a few PSN games. I still haven't bought any new full-version games since Uncharted.

To everyone saying Wii:

That is easy fucking money if you sell it. For such a hot product right now, I would sell it as soon as possible.

Though I have a N-gage, i was happy with it.

Biggest Case: Xbox 360
After buying the system found out that there were more accessories to buy (battery pack for controllers, VGA cable to play on my monitor, that cost an additional 100 bucks). After my 1-month gold access expired didn't want to pay for online so thats my loss there. Basically bought it for 360 exclusives.

BFG OC2 8800 GTX about a month before the GTS came out. Thing runs well enough, but it's hot and temperamental as hell.

Should have waited on the PS3 as well. Beginning of 2009 would have been the perfect time to pick up older games and get the new stuff.

Spider-Man 3 -_-'

I have no idea why the quality of the movie didn't come off as an omen as to what to expect from the game.

Buying the PS3 at launch. I'd still have one by now, mind you, but I would have paid less and I honestly didn't really need it that first year.

Army of Two. I only got it because a friend brought a new Xbox and wanted to go co-op.

I pillaged that piece of trash of whatever achievements I could get and flipped it on Ebay ASAP.

So true. Ugh, and to think I bought the special edition for PS3. I barely played it, sold it on Ebay and ended up getting stiffed so the buyer got it for free. An appropriate experience for such a game.

Third and lastly: No More Heroes, which was my first lesson in NeoGAF hype: never trust NeoGAF hype. Ever. EVER.

Anyone who says they have remorse for buying the Wii, just wait for the holidays.

And I don't mean new games, I mean big bucks on Ebay...

Yeah too bad psp hasn't had any games this year. Except for the truck load of releases in the last 6 months. Including Hot Shots 2, God of war, and Crisis core among others

After thinking some more, I regret buying my gamecube. After I finished Rogue Squadron and Mario Sunshine I've never used the damn thing. And I'm still not happy with my xbox360 purchase. Why couldn't Microsoft have included wifi in my 360? My system is next to useless.

Super Paper Mario

:(

Yeah, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Corruption, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Galaxy, GTAIV...it's not a total, all-encompassing, life-lasting buyer's remorse for those, but it's strong enough to give me a bad taste in my mouth. Each of those games had some really neat moments, but enough sloppy ones to tarnish the overall game.

of all time? probably test drive 6 on dreamcast. that or an imported version of sega gt... it cost almost $100 after tax + shipping and everything and it was garbage.

this generation probably halo 3. i knew after the cod4 beta that i would play that more but i still bought it because i have a few real life friends who were diehard halo fanboys so i figured i'd always have someone to hop on with but they all jumped up to cod4 as well so i traded it in for a nintendo ds.

to all people mentioning consoles ( Wii, 360, PS3, whatever ),

you guys have to understand that a console is a VERY long term investment. If you are not using your console now, I would only try to sell it if I needed the money but not because "I don't use it, it collects dust" .

Sooner or later a handful of games will appear throughout the generation you will want to play and you will more than likely regret having selling the consoles and you will lose tons of money in the process because you will buy them twice or even three times:

Reasons to keep console:

Wii: Next Zelda and Pikmin.

360: Gears, Halo, tons of exclusive JRPGS.

PS3: Most first party stuff.

stop the whining, just wait up.

Xbox 360 version of Rock Band. It seems that every time I invite people over for a "beer and Rock Band night" the damn thing red rings on me. Should have grabbed the PS3 version.

Nintendo Wii.

I loved Zelda, Mario, Wario, Wii Sports, and Smash. Unfortunately, that is it, and I don't feel like keeping a console around that seems to only have the hope for a future Zelda game.

Fortunately the artificial lack of supply (seriously, it's a bad joke now, Nintendo) allowed me to resell my 2 year old Wii for retail price.
