I'm sorry, what? Yikes.
To be fair, it does look like a stock photo though.

Brutal Doom was originally based on murder photos too, because that guy is a legit psycho.
Dead Space used licensed dead people only.
how does this happen

Someone probably saw it, thought it was a stock image, and used it thinking it wouldn't be a problem.
They need to patch it out, apologize, and the artist needs to probably take an unpaid leave for a little while.
Unless it was willful, in which case fuck that.
If you mistake the image that is the subject of this article:
for a stock photo then you are just an idiot. There is no excuse for this.

Wow same as the destiny thread. Is every single person supposed to know about every event in every country for the last million years? Holy shit, if I saw that photo I would have no idea what it was from.

He would be an idiot for not confirming the source of the material he's using, especially for a game that's freaking licensed.Whoever at Telltale thought the photograph of a recent and newsworthy assassination of a Russian diplomat was a stock photo is an idiot.
hahahahaThe artist who did that should work at Naughty Dog.

I thought it was a screenshot from a film or TV show at first glance (and if I'd seen it in another context I may not have realised that it wasn't). The only thing that could've tipped me off that it wasn't is that it looks a bit too grainy for that but I can totally see how someone could think it wasn't real. But then again, I am an idiot. Apparently.
The assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey was a big deal, yes, and it happened 9 months ago. It's not some far flung event from the past. Being on gaming side doesn't give you license to be as ignorant as Telltale.
Not everyone watches the news and not everyone knows of these sorts of contests. I certainly didn't know of this contest. If you mistake the image that is the subject of this article

This is an understandable line of thinking given how amazingly good the picture is. Problem is, that just means that the artist at Telltale thought they were plagiarizing a movie instead of an AP journalist. It's still plagiarism.
Reverse Image search is a thing now. Like ten seconds could have saved this person the incoming shitstorm coming for them.

No, but also, like, if you're sourcing a photo for a project, you should at least know where the photo is from.Wow same as the destiny thread. If you're using a photo for a commercial product, you need to check the source to make sure you're not violating a copyright. A simple reverse search of the image would've probably brought that article up and it takes all of two seconds to do, just right click the image and click on "Search Google for this image."Of course, EVERYONE knows about the World Press Photo Contest...
Is it okay to use first image from google in a commercial product nowadays?
Lol I don't think Telltale even knows what a patch isUmmmmm...
Maybe patch that
Holy shit. This has been out for a while, right? Crazy that this made it into the game and that it went unnoticed for this long.
