Call of Duty:Black Ops Declassified (Gamescom 2012)

Everyone has been predicting it since the moment it was announced.

There was quite a few people thinking CoD would be Vita's savior and thought the only reason it was shown in logo form at E3 was because Microsoft paid off Activision not to mention it or whatever. Here's one example just a few days ago: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=40881204&postcount=22

I think only the most optimistic people will still be looking forward to this game after this footage and learning that Nihilistic is developing it.

Horrible decision. This game had the biggest chance of any game announced to move systems... and it's given to these guys? Ugh. Sony or someone needed to pay for a top notch studio to dedicate itself to ensuring the handheld gets an outstanding COD game. So disappointing, but at least it seems like a great group has its hands on Killzone.

You mean the Killzone Mercenary trailer with one whole enemy onscreen at a time? Yeah, I saw that.

I see, one two three at one point oh and even an overcraft.

How many are on the screen there ?

Looks horrendous but that was totally expected, given the platform, lack of info and developer. Activision doesn't give a solitary shit about this game and neither should we.

I love that with all the hype that was had over CoD moving into a future scenario that this is back in the past.

Dreadful, I would be embarrassed at this game, it doesn't look any good at all, whatever engine Nihilistic has behind this and Resistance really sucks, a whopping 4 vs 4, woah, there are games on less powerful hardware that have managed more.

Because they stand without any response to the bullets until their health runs out and then they fall to the ground with a canned animation.
I see it now in the .gif when they are in more slow motion. Looking at the Youtube video, i cant notice it.

fixed, mate

it looks really awful. 4vs4? Jesus sony
Is the game published by Sony? How much does Sony have to do with the developement of this game? Honest question.

4vs4 is a pity though. I had hoped for at least 6vs6.

Of course, that's why we all knew this would be a turd.
People didnt know, they assumed. Since we knew basically nothing, it could have been different.

Woah can we dig up that thread where a million people called the developer and also how horrible this would be?

Kill zone really does put it into perspective. I can't believe these companies are trusting these guys with some of their most revered IP and then allowing them to basically massacre them.

Everything about this game says Resistance, no physics, same color palette, same vehicles and same gun sounds. CoD Vita is a wasted opportunity.

Activision don't give no shits but they'll charge you $50 for one.

Activision doesn't give a shit.

I'm sure it was Sony's decision to use Nihilistic (Sony is probably funding this whole thing with little involvement from Activision).

Sony likely wanted to get a cheap 2-for-1 deal by paying for Resistance Burning Skies and then quickly reskinning that engine with CoD Black Ops assets in a couple months.

I know I've been defending this quite a lot, and I'm not convinced it'll be at all good, but this logic is really bizarre to me.

Look at how the 'main' games compare visually:

There's really no reason to think this game would look better if Treyarch made it. There has been one dual analog FPS on a handheld ever, and it was made by this studio. There has only been one FPS ever on the Vita, and it was made by this studio.

I don't honestly know who people expected this game to come from.

How come Nihilistic was given the job for this? Activision has enough CoD studios for a Vita version.
Something makes me think that Activision didn't want to make it anymore and Sony just pushed Nihilistic to make this game.

Especially the 4 vs. 4 multiplayer is outrageous. There is no excuse for having such a low player count.

Can someone explain how Medal of Honer on PSP had 32 player MP yet a Vita game has 8 player MP?
The only explanation I can come up with is the use of a godawful engine.

this is what i think as well, that's why I called em out

looks like a quickly put together one by a mediocre company. They needed something out fast

Good rule of thumb in the future then to those people is to not put too much faith in something until the details are shown. Folks were going overboard just because of a logo on screen. Smart folks said to wait till we have more details before going all list wars with it.

Wouldnt Sony be the publisher if they fund the whole thing?

Personally i didnt see anyone that i'd concider going overboard. I dont see anything wrong with being optimistic. Sometimes it turns out great, sometimes it doesnt.

The listwar stuff goes for pretty much every game though. We dont know for sure how good these games will be before very close to the release date, or before people have actually played them.

Comparing COD to Killzone graphically is just stupid. Even on ps3 where the A-team is working on COD it looks way worse. And killzone is a visual beast.

Someone in this thread already posted from another Vita thread where a poster suggested that the lack of info on the title was because MS was having Activision hold back the info... that seems pretty overboard. I'm sure going through older threads on the topic there will be a lot more examples of people saying that the game was a system saver many times over.

What other third party games has Nihilistic done? Have they worked with Activision before?

I remember the discussion around that. It wasnt really that far fetched actually, in my opinion. It was speculation about why it wasnt shown at E3. The only CoD game that was shown at E3 was the Xbox 360 version.

EDIT: Unless there was a 2nd post/discussion around this that i havnt seen.

I'm not seeing more than two in the Killzone gif. Anyways, CoD games have always pushed massive amounts of particles and enemies onscreen at once, and assuming Declassified continues the trend, it makes sense that it isn't as good looking as Killzone.

Ken Levine says that its his teams next game after infinite. SO it will probably never be released.
I don't think so. He said it'll be handled out of house. But I doubt it'll happen at this point. He can't split his focus on the seemingly troubled Infinite, and by the time he's done, 2K might not be greenlighting any significant Vita development.

Don't be so melodramatic, you haven't even played it yet. And its COD, thats a pretty set in stone formula. It would take quite the effort to fuck it up.

If they cant even make it look fun in a trailer that's supposed to make it look fun, i can pretty much guarantee you that i wont be trying it.

Uh, it's obvious this isn't the focus of Activision and honestly, why should it? They know where their target group plays mostly. They can make a quick buck just like they did with the DS and Wii versions (which had a far bigger user base to boot) but they will not devote serious resources to this. And while I despise Activision I can't fault them for that either.

What happens if Nihilistic is confirmed to be making Bioshock Vita after COD gets released?.
At this point I wouldn't be too sure it still exists.

Well someone asked why people thought the VIta could do a lot more. I should've quoted that post for context. Beyond that, the treatment of the game is appalling. I really don't care about graphics so don't get confused. It's very clear that this is getting the DS/Wii iteration treatment like I had speculated in the speculation thread. I'm surprised Sony still wants to draw attention to it.
