Capcom announces Dead Rising: Chop Til' You Drop for US (Press Release inside)

It seems to me that being worried about the stuff going on on-screen (read zombies' number) is a bit unwarranted going by this last batch of screens (click for actual size):

Especially these three (last two show 30+ zombies if you pay attention, and who knows how many more there are in that location but off-screen)

Slightly off-topic but FUCK YEAH I got the Zombie Genocider achievement + the Real Mega-Buster a few days ago in the 360 version.
Now you're ready to tackle the 5 and 7 days survivor achievements. I think I ended up with 13 days or something.

This seems like an acceptable number of zombies onscreen to me. But looking at some of the other screens, I fear that this will be the exception rather than the norm. Or at least it won't be consistently acceptable numbers.

I fear there are plenty of laffs to be had when the game's released and people see the sparsely populated tunnels. :(

How's the dash update gonna change the amount of loading? It'll only change the time it takes to load the next area.

The loads aren't that long anyways. Stop bitching and play the game.

What just happened in this pic?

If it were the 360 version, he was probably trying for a good upskirt pic.

I'm going to miss my upskirts in this version :(.

So what you're saying is that shorter loading times don't equal less loading?

Honestly I don't share your fear since, I mean, if the developer pulled off the zombies number then it'll be that way throughout the game missions whenever it is needed/appropriate.

First of all, the Wii controls have been pretty well implemented. While there aren't any new weapons, the emphasis has been placed on the guns rather than hand-to-hand combat. Aiming a gun works exactly as it did in Resident Evil 4, with the remote's trigger used to enter aiming and the A button for firing. The same chairs, baseball bats, and guitars can still be picked up for the personal touch, and you have two methods for attacking. The A button will swing whatever you have in your hands, but you can also shake the Wii Remote if you want a stronger attack. It basically depends on how lazy you feel like being at any given point.

If you manage to stun your opponents with a gunshot or a powerful strike, then you can follow up with a finishing move by waggling the Wii Remote. The same technique works for shaking off a zombie who's trying to take a bite out of you, or if you want to recover from an attack like Adam the Clown's gas balloon attacks. We particularly liked using the baseball bat in the Stun mode, as you can shake the remote to build up a superpowerful strike to send the dazed zombie flying through the air.

Capcom claims that the entire game will be pretty much exactly the same as the original in terms of story progression and endings. What has changed is that a number of annoying features have been ironed out following player feedback. The save system is now much more regular and occurs at the end of each case. You'll also be able to go away and rescue civilians without receiving a time penalty on the case you're working on. And you'll be able to hold on to more weapons, with up to four slots dedicated to firearms.

Sounds good to me, hopefully they'll polish it graphically, it really needs it from what I've seen. I feel having a 2nd quarter '09 release date would be far more appropriate.

It doesn't change the frequency of loading. It's less loading, but won't change your gameplay habits or strategy at all.

Maybe you guys will be able to help me. I just bought Dead Rising for X360 two days ago and everytime I try playing the game I get Disk Unreadable error. It happen right in the begiing part of the game, were Frank West jumps off the Helicopter and lands on the Helipad of the mall. Wehen ever I take off the Hard Drive the game then magically works. It aways happens with the damn Harddrive plugged into my 360. If this keeps up I may haver to wait out and get the Wii vfersion

Have you downloaded any of the content from XBLM for Dead Rising, like the free costumes?

PC version? Please? PLEASE???

C'mon Capcom. Lost Planet and DMC4 ports were great. Lets see some more love. I will buy 2 is it helps. :(

Yeah infact I did I downloaded thee accountant key and some of the free costumes too. I know the game read the DLC beacuase I everytiime I try to load it it shows a screen saying DLC read. I googled "Disk Read error dead Rising" and found out it was a wide spread problem.

It's obvious who Capcom are targeting for this release. The same people that made RE0 Wii a big success! :lol

No, it would be the people who made RE4 Wii a big success. You also have to remember that the RE0 Wii fanbase didn't exist when this game began development, and that it's actually having a difficult time selling its initial shipment out in Japan (around 80K I estimate). :P

RE4 Wii and DR Wii have this in common: while they cater toward users who never played the original versions, they do have enough differences to warrant a look by people who tried the earlier versions. RE0 Wii had NO appeal to those who played the GC version aside from a few dozen hardcore fans who must have everything or try every version.

Wait, Capcom shipped 80K copies of RE:Zero??? Wow

It's making me cry that the "harcore" response to this is so overly negative.

Sounds like a fusion of Dead Rising and RE4 Wii, which is like merging the best damn game ever with the best damn game ever.

You really think people are going to be all pumped for a remake of a 360 game on the Wii? Of course there is going to be vocal group of "controls, controls, controls" people who will be into it, but most people (including me) will just shrug and move on and wait for the next new game.

I don't see a whole lot of shrugging and moving on. I see a whole lot of angry, bitter tears flooding down the face of every gaming forum and blog I click on.

True point, just showcases how people's expectations get way out of control. Certainly seems like a solid enough game for those who have just a Wii or for some reason found Dead Rising too difficult or restricting.

I certainly don't consider myself "hardcore", but my negativity comes form the fact that the game just doesn't look fun at the moment. I'm hoping that the videos just don't do the game justice, because I loved RE4 and was excited for this port. I really want to feel like I am in some danger when moving around the mall, which the vids didn't convince me of.

I was optimistic at first, but after all of the odd gameplay changes (no picture taking?), and the incredibly crappy visual effort there is no reason for me to care anymore (the visuals are truly shameful).

This is just another C level port effort from Capcom to cash-in on the Wii while they put all of their top games on the other consoles.

I'm estimating based on the Famitsu website's percentage-sold icons that accompany their sales charts. It wasn't until RE0 broke 40K that Famitsu switched it to the 51-75% logo.

Well, Capcom doesn't understand the Wii, but that not a shame. There are many developers out there that don't understand the Wii and its audience.

The only thing that I have learnded in this generation is the fact that the gaming-industry is lacking real and strategic business-men in comparison to other industrial sectors. Everybody is coping each other and nobody tries to be different. What a dumb industry...

looks ugly but sounds like it would be fun with the wii mote. one thing that is cool is having more saves. i gave up on the original b/c of the lack of them.

wow, pretty impressive for ps2! Somebody mail a copy of hitman BM to capcom and ask them what the fuck they are doing with that wii port for god's sake.

It is a shame the game is looking like shit though. A DR with more saves would have been nice, i mean I already got the good ending, but still...
