Monroeville Mall is real, and it really does suck.Gamer @ Heart said:How does such a small town have a mall of America size mall?
I don't think they reworked it.Father_Brain said:Capcom at least had the right idea in radically reworking the game for Wii, rather than attempting to down-port it. They just completely half-assed it.
Guessing you didn't actually play the original game, OR your just baiting.Buttseckslol said:I've played this game it's not that bad. Besides what do you expect when the original game's concept grows old in a few hours. It's like getting mad at the SNES port of Primal Rage. Why bother? Neither are all that great to begin with.
Yeah, there is no way someone could dislike Dead Rising. I mean it's not like it had frustrating controls, boring escort missions, and fetch quests. You experience the fundamentals of the game in just the first few hours. The rest is fluff. How do you expect a downgraded port to improve this formula? Like I said, it's fun for a few hours. It gets tedious after a while.FootNinja said:Guessing you didn't actually play the original game, OR your just baiting.
If you found the first one to get old in just a couple of hours, what made you try this version?Buttseckslol said:I've played this game it's not that bad. Yea the fact that your calling the entire upgrade system, new weapons, and the crazy fun boss fights "fluff", makes me think it just rubbed you the wrong way. Your opinion is yours, but there was a lot to that game.Buttseckslol said:Yeah, there is no way someone could dislike Dead Rising. The problem is, the low number of on screen enemies worked in RE4 due to the way they reacted (they were faster and more aggressive). Dead Rising focuses on classic zombies that shamble about. I think this would essentially ruin the RE4 gameplay mechanics and is why Chop Til' You Drop probably won't be all that fun.bmf said:I may be on that. I loved RE4, and RE4 Wii even more. Dead Rising Wii seems like a fun RE4 Total Conversion (in the old quake terms). I'll be picking it up tomorrow.

From the previous pageHaunted said:Is upgrading and levelling still in there or did they remove that too?
Do you start with all your moves?
you can get food, ammo and money.. (don't know what you can buy with that yet
ok i can confirm now u do NOT start w/ all ur moves
instead u earn money n buy books from the weapon store. so far i got 2 books. 1 book teaches u the german suplex (shoot zombie's leg, when they kneel down, go behind them press A) and the other book teaches u the lightsaber combo
Again from the previous pagePusherT said:So what new features and game modes did Capacom add to this game? I own the original 360 game and played and beaten it like 4 different times. When capcom made Re4 on the PS2 they added "Seperate Ways" + costume and weapons. Looking at the video it looks like the gameplay is changed I see a"Countdown timer" + the guns seem actually usefull in this version too
Alrite, I beat the game. I don't know if there are multiple endings but this one sorta wrap things up.
I did not end up doing all the missions. some missions are secret missions that need to be unlocked (i guess by getting good grades? I got mostly A's and B's and my final game ending grade was a B) so i did not rescue all the survivors.
i did not get all weapons/costumes/books. i am missing a lot of stuff and im not sure why. maybe they are not available in your first playthrough? if you want to know what i missed see the spoiler below
Overall I would give the game a 8 out of 10. it's very fun, it's VERY MUCH like resident evil 4. therefore, dont expect a free roam type of game. it is pretty much linear again jsut like RE4. it's basically 1 mission followed by another (with secret missions like i mentioned) and in between there are story events.
****End game unlockable SPOILER****
1) load your finished file and start a new game with all weapons, books, money, experienced, etc carried over. awesome. also for clearing the game i got a strong machine gun and some special forces shoes. i cleared with a B, so maybe A and S gives you even better stuff?
2) Quest Mode. basically short funny missions, i dont know how many are there i think i played about 15 and then even more opened up. i see so many costumes and items in here that i cant get in story mode, such as the hockey mask, convict uniform, wrestling brief, items such as pizza, books that let you do the gut rip move, increase punching power, etc etc
3) after you finish about 5 quests in Quest mode, you unlock another secret called Sniper mode. basically another quest mode with all sniper missions. very fun, i played about 10 stages.
i am not sure if u get anything new if you finish all quests. i will try but i am willing to bet there will be some ridiculously difficult quests with 5 or 6 stars difficulty (so far the highest one i have unlcoked is 3 stars)
So how the hell do you earn $$? Is it like Resident Evil 4 were when you kill a zombie he sqawns money, ammo or food? What about the bookstores do they still have books for upgrades? Did he say anything about "Overtime Mode" being in this version and do you still fight Brock?Tenbatsu said:From the previous page
Videos show red and blue stuff dropped by the zombies you kill, so apparently it's exactly the same as RE4. For the books, read the post above yours.PusherT said:So how the hell do you earn $$? Is it like Resident Evil 4 were when you kill a zombie he sqawns money, ammo or food?
I wont be getting it today as the game will only be available on Saturday at my side.PusherT said:Tenbatsu are you getting the game today if so I want to read your imrpession of it?I'm still on the fence especially since I played the original to much

Had to go back to work so couldnt get more but couple anyways.
Game looks fairly good in motion. Definetly some heavy aliasing at times though. Can't wait to play through.

slasher_thrasher21 said:It still looks really good for a Wii game. I mean having played all of the original on 360, I still get the feeling this is Dead Rising. Now its got sorta different game mechanics though so its going to be alot of fun going through it again. The aiming felt awesome... but then so did RE4. So thats a given.
Really though, some Wii owners are going to be pleasantly surprised.

I don't have a 360, so this is my only option to play DR... but I have a sneaking suspicion that before DR2 hits on PS3 and etc, Capcom MAY announce a port of the 360 version to the PS3, once they have capitalized on the sales of the Wii version as much as they think they can.
I own RE4 on 3 formats, (GC, PS2 and Wii) and absolutely loved the Wii version most of all. The gameplay with the Wii functionality is sublime. I'm hoping that maybe the Wii version of DR will have that same feel of awesome control, so even if a PS3 port of the original is announced, this one will still have merit to exist.
Depending on price, I may pick this up this week... and impressions of others, of course.
What...? Really? The video review sounded REALLY positive.Jethro said:And the Score is 6.9.

- The story is satire. Its awesome actually.
- Mutiple save points works for 'the casual audience', but it should not be part of the DR sequels.
- There was noting wrong with Otis phoning you up. The problem was that you couldn't do shit to defend yourself and if you were hit you'd have to listen to it all over again.
EDIT: Hell, even the actual written review was really positive. I'm a bit confused on the low score...?Yaceka said:What...? Really? The video review sounded REALLY positive.
D. Hat follows his own rules, dawg. It seems like he'd have a lot of problems with the original, actually. :lolmorningbus said:And here is the link to the review: http://wii.ign.com/articles/956/956791p1.html
Both the video and the written review sound way more positive than a 6.9 (well, using the weighted, anything-below-a-7-is-garbage scale)

While trolling this game was fun and easy, I'll give it a rent after I'm spent from MadWorld. Also, whoever said this looked better than Disaster, I demand further evidence!
I don't think anyone really cares enough about the game to make a review/official thread about it. If I had the spare time I would make one, but I don't... so yeah.Chinner said:Anyone going to make a review thread for DR?
Theres alot of shit wrong here. Ignoring the fact that hes calling the story the worst thing ever, just for dramatic effect, lets just establish that the dialogue isn't wretch, Its actually pretty neat and straight to the point. There is nothign wrong with the VA, which is equally awesome. Comparing it to the RE is just another dramatic effect thing, obviously the statement itself is a dud. While the premise of the game is great, the story is well, it's one of the worst stories I've ever encountered in videogames. The dialogue is wretched, and the delivery of these digital actors is lifeless and wooden. Have the writers at Capcom really not grown since the original Resident Evil? The story ends up trying to be a social commentary on our American lifestyle, but it will just have you rolling your eyes. If Dead Rising presented itself as campy, that would be a different story. But it appears to be trying to take itself seriously. Players, however, will be unable to.
