Dark Underlord also followed this up in the thread with his actual view on the matter in response to the RPGWatch admin (another forum) denouncing Avellone

No, a guy who has zero respect for women wouldn't have apologised. He also wouldn't have "acted like a gentlemen" at any point in time.

And if that's our attitude towards men, then what about the women that have grabbed my ass at parties, the relentless stream of check-out girls and receptionists who call me "darling, darl, cutey" on a regular basis, the girls who have physically put their hands on my upper arms and chest, the one I was drinking with until I passed out on the floor at which point she helped me into bed then sat on top of me while I'm barely able to keep my eyes open, the ones who have bent over in front of me letting their breasts virtually fall out in a way that can hardly be called anything other than deliberate, the girl who talked about her breasts and posing nude, the one who thought "rape wolves" were funny, or the girls these days who are apparently polyamorous and can't help but mention it in conversation?

There are apparently careers I need to destroy lads. Vile sexual predators preying on innocent men who need to be removed from their job, have all their social media accounts suspended, and spend their days begging for forgiveness.

I do any of those things and I'm a sex crazed rapist. If I put on low cut trousers that expose my crotch I'd be some kind of creep and charged with exposing myself. If I talked about my dick the same way some woman have talked about their breasts to me, my career would've been cancelled long ago.

We have laws in Western culture, and courts of law for a damn reason. The phrase "innocent until proven guilty" by a court of law exists for a reason. It's so we don't get the baying mob rampaging through society, destroying what it can in order to garner victim points and attention.

Until Chris Avellone, or any of these "people who need to be cancelled", are proven guilty of anything by a court of law, you have nothing. And there's a reason the people making these accusations never go to the Police.

Oh, the horrible crime of sending you a drunk text message that's actually asking you for consent for an explicit sexual act? That's the death penalty right there. Are you a grown fucking adult?

And even if this already mad world decides to go off the deep end and get madder, he will be punished by the justice system. It's funny how right now, criminals with hardcore records are supposed to have their past actions ignored, while those who have made the terrible mistake of mentioning sex to a woman are apparently never allowed to work again or engage in any social media.
There's also a reddit user who has hung out with Avellone responding

I'm speechless. All those white knights, who the fuck are they?

Do have any sexual feelings? Can't be because its criminal offense.
Are they in relationships? Can't be because they ask for consent all the fucking time.
Sex before marriage? They have no partner.
Do they even have sex at all? See all the above.

I find it fascinating that by nature, a straight male should feel attracted to women but these guys talk as if its forbidden to do so, and as if they know women better than women know themselves. They even decide how they think. Don't they see that they're ruining it for every party involved? Nasty shit happens on both sides. There are so many women, countless ones, that target occupied males. When i'm single I have a much harder time getting attention then when i'm involved. I guess they feel attracted when they notice i'm not paying attention. But they try to get in between and mess up your head anyway. There are many who don't take no for an answer.

My personal take is that there are quite a few women around who feel remorse for their behaviour, want to clean out their closet and twist the story. And a shit ton of them involve being drunk and can't help it. First of all, you are a grown up and you can say no to drinks. Secondly, and this is anecdotal, when I am shit faced I always remember the majority and I still don't step over the line. There are some holes, but shit like this I certainly don't forget when I wake up. I had a coworker who misbehaved when she drank too much, she was into a relationship but forced herself upon me and other guys from time to time. On monday, she -always- said the same shit'"I can't remember anything from X point forward, did I behave?'. I simply responded that I don't need to answer as she does know. I just don't buy that shit. They are ashamed and brush it off like that. Many white knights defending it anyway.

I followed Mike Laidlaw on Twitter for a while. He’s dangerous. His inability to think things through is staggering.

In Mike Laidlaw’s case he says things that are super woke because he’s a developer who’s in the public eye and knows that if he says ‘the wrong thing’ he’ll be canceled.

He’s created a nice little bubble for himself on Twitter. Anyone who disagrees with him gets labelled a bigot or a racist, etc.

Haha that codex thing is nice.

"Finding out he isn't gay would disappoint me in a way I haven't been disappointed since finding out dunkey is actually a fat white guy as opposed to a cool black dude."

that was also a huge disappointment for me...maybe that's racist but his videos weren't so funny after I learned the truth.

BTT: don't think for a minute that those canceling are normal people. Most are artist, a really really weird bunch. They live in like a second society. Often it's harmless but in times like these it's just freaky. And those who aren't artists have mental health problems. (Or both) The current culture of the USA just rounds this shit off.

Haven't followed this story except at very beginning - one observation: Avellone's behavior sounds... opportunistic at best - which I think is different from "predatory", at least if we want to preserve some degrees of freedom for heterosexual men, not to "slutshame" as aggressively as we do women - but at worst, if not "predatory", irresponsible and out of touch with the dominant mood of the era. The adjectives "abusive, conniving", though - to my ear, those fit a lot of the online take-downs and pile-ons that rip behavior from context, provide one skewed personal account, and abuse adjectives as violently as Donald Trump..

Just to illustrate how pathetic some people in this industry are the HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS at Riot Games went after the guy for defending Avellone and tried to shame him for having freelance experience. He's having none of it though.

I'm sure this is already obvious to everyone here, but the "DOZENS of accusations" headline is a ludicrously dishonest way of framing the issue. The videogame industry is enormous and employs tens of thousands of people. Even a dozen people on a single large project, and that is very generously assuming that one whole half of these are serious allegations and not just one or another personality disorder oopsie, is statistically in line with the rest of the world. This is in no way a "videogame" problem, as much as they'd like it be.

Cunts like this are what's wrong with the world.
But she’s furious for despicable behaviour she’s never seen, though has had plenty of opportunity to see! FURIOUS!!! All caps! So you know it’s important and surely justified and rational.

As an aside, “c*nts” are magical life-giving orifices that represent life, power and womanhood. If anything she’s undeserving of the term and of hers. That’s assuming she’s a biological woman, but since it’s Twitter and she has neon hair, who knows?

I read through one of those google docs a few days ago about some of the recent abuse stories, it started off mentioning some sexual messages sent back and forth. It went on for about 4 more pages and I was waiting for the sexual abuse to reveal itself. Then the document ended, and I realized that the sexual abuse was the text messages.

That's the moment when I leaned back scratching my head, wondering if I just ate some mushrooms or if someone really just shamed someone as a sexual abuser on the internet for sexting. What I find so puzzling, is how the crowd who goes after sexual abuse doesn't have any limits to what constitutes sexual abuse. It's like they are doing it for the witch hunt and social media bashing rather than trying to help sexual abuse victims.

So she, an adult, got drunk with the guy and almost had sex with him. But it's all his fault. What if he were trans, would that magically change things and make it alright?

And.....

I....

WHAT THE FUCK

EviLore EviLore

Turns out Karissa is now accused of covering up sexual misconduct by her friends.

Karissa is a whole other story. Karissa’s story needs to be shared, with her screenshots. Karissa works IN the industry, she’s made it her literal job to be a liaison between fans and VAs.

Recently there has been a big movement with women coming out in the gaming industry. Last week, the day before Karissa issued a public statement against Chris Avellone, she unfollowed me for the first time in three years from my Twitter (as of this moment, we are still Facebook friends, I checked-but I’m sure that will change very soon). I thought it a calculated move. Why would she unfriend me for the first time since 2017 the day before she comes out about someone engaging in sexual assault with women in the gaming industry?

She has been extremely vocal on her platform about “believing women,” and has been putting up several tweets daily about how women need to come forward and be believed with their abuse encounters. I have yet to hear a word back from her about her so-called “investigation” into Ray from two years ago, when she told me that I imagined things, and told my friend to be quiet, and that there were “nasty rumors” floating around about me, which have been proven to be a lie.

I cannot imagine behaving in the manner that she has, but IF I were someone like Karissa, and IF I were guilty of aiding and abetting other VAs with what they do with fans, I’d probably behave in the same manner she’s been displaying. She comes out against someone in the industry, and publicly encourages women to come forward, so if anyone like me tries to say that she knows about Robbie Daymond or Ray Chase behaving inappropriately, their claim would look ridiculous. She’s been working with them for years, and with how she came forward about Chris, any insinuation that she would support men who act in the same sort of manner would look ridiculous.

It’s unfortunate for her, then, that I’ve kept the screenshots throughout the years.
Mexican Telenovela writers couldn't make this shit up. And considering how much she exaggerated, lied and gloated regarding Avellone I'm not exactly willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

You made your own bed, now lie in it.

What does VA stand for in this context?

In any case, with this outrageous twitter culture it's a matter of time that they'll turn on each other; the insanity will back fire on them.

The hope is that before it all implodes on itself, there won't be much more damage done to the mob's targets who are not part of this.

What the hell? Did they really purged him from bloodlines 2? Wtf?
Are we sure of this? any news about his work on dying light 2?

A representative from Bloodlines 2 publisher Paradox Interactive has explained Avellone's involvement with the game was "brief," and that none of the content he produced would be used in the game.
Also about Bloodlines 2: If you liked anything about Malkavians in Bloodlines 1 you won't get that now:

On Malkavians:
Mitsoda: "I looked at some Bloodlines 1 Malk replies and I was like, 'Wow - we would never approach them that way.'"
"They're not gonna be wacky, ever."

I mean this is proving to be the case in 99% of all these incidents of virtue-signalling and rallying the mob: deflection from one’s own misconduct.

What’s the old saying: “Only a thief worries about their belongings being stolen” (or anyone who lives in NY on a 1st floor apartment).

Look, if there's more to this Avellone stuff, I retract my dismissal. Sometimes there is - but lately everything we see is a non-event hyped as if it's a rape epidemic

If you want to make it a crime to be slutty towards or with colleagues or people in your "industry", go ahead, but it isn't one - and "frowned upon" isn't the same as "taboo"

The dynamic just seems so obvious - you get a successful dude, maybe powerful and entitled but not necessarily - and you get women who are being super solicitous of him - because he's just so influential and they want to "network" and so on and don't want to be on his bad side!! - and then they act in ambivalent, ambiguous ways that are interpreted as romantic/sexual interest. Kissing someone's ass is now considered a sexual overture in millennial circles already

Also, if you're widening "sexual harassment" to include "disrespect" - do they mean "sexual disrespect"..... good luck, I'm about to get half my last workplace fired for being disrespectful to me...? Like... pump the brakes, geniuses

The problem is more of an ethical issue than a legal one. She sort of implies that he repeatedly gets women blackout drunk so he can kiss them easier without consent. The groping is still a light crime, and if he knows he didn't do it, I do not know why he is apologizing.

He wasn't apologizing to the groping or the accusations. From context it was clear he was apologizing to his ex for a bad relationship more than anything. After that he shut up.

Also paying for rounds isn't getting people drunk. In every case so far they could have easily refused. Neither were they young enough to not know better as well.

Oh, thanks.. plying people with alcohol is gross, yeah. I've had it done to me as a dude, and not even by women with sexual motivations, just like, "let's see what happens" malicious/reckless types

And yeah, paying for rounds isn't identical to getting someone blackout drunk in order to take advantage of them.. and that's a big big grey area w/ consent, in my opinion, universities treat drunk sex between two people as inherently violating, and tend to fault the man over the woman, regardless of agency and decisions made..

Idk it all just seems like we're making a bigger mess out of a natural mess.. like, sometimes people drink too much and throw up, you don't need to call CSI. Same way, sometimes people act cringe or "bad" or opportunistic or impulsive or short-sightedly sexually, it doesn't mean it's all "off with their heads" predation. I guess I'm a little older/old school?

No, you're just objective.

It pisses me off personally because while I never actually worked in the field I did get to help out a helpline for abuse victims for half a year. We were two people (1 woman + 1 man) who visited the victim and lend an open ear to their suffering. I heard some truly horrific shit that still haunts me to this day, often carried around by them silently for decades.

So seeing these harpies twisting situations and stories, making a mountain out of a molehill, suddenly deciding that an event they had 10 years ago was *sexual assault*, and practice gloating of all things makes me physically sick.

Most likely what Chris provided in DL2 will still be there. They're polish devs so they wont scrap or cancel Chris work but they do have to show some PR shit to the angry mobs. Bloodlines 2 on the other hand is another story and I was extremely skeptical about it ever since they showed it. It will be a fucking disaster.

I know VtM was always left leaning, and even the first game took some shots at republicans, but what happened to the franchise and how it got devoured by SJWs is just depressing.

Karissa has been lying. exaggerating and gloating through this whole thing. (Apart from being accused herself of covering up sexual harassement by her friends). I don't believe her one bit.

On the thread: An rpgcodex user has researched the worst accusation so far. (Him repeadetly groping a women). Going through her tweets during the event where it allegedly happened show that she indeed met Avellone, but opens up tons of holes regarding her story including the timeline not matching up and these two treasures:

Apart from that being more sad than anything, it again casts doubt considering by her own account she was lamenting not getting hit on and she started hitting on people.

Unless there is significant proof, I don't like seeing people's names/careers dragged in the mud all over the internet. People should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
There isn't. So far there are only doubts and things not matching up. The only things that can be said are true are:

1. Chris has/had an alcohol problem.

2. Chris had a bad relationship.

3. Chris has the wrong circle of friends.

As for his accusations:

- The women he sexted once while she had a boyfriend has an okupid profile where she clearly has an open relationship and fucks other men. So why was that sext such a problem?
- Karissa has twisted the truth multiple times and as said above got accused herself.
- The women he repeadetly gropped against her will spent the event in question lamenting not getting anything (because of her weight) and started hitting on everyone later on (despite her boyfriend being around). Also as mentioned above,

It's an utter mess. Chris certainly has problems. Being a sexual predator isn't one of them.

Those two tweets aren't loading, but holy christ..

I thought "Gamergate" and "ahh! harassment and death threats! heelllppp!" were histrionic and embarrassing all around, but..

Turns out.. I mean. You're doing basic "reporting" here that tends to mitigate both what "gossip" spreads on "gaming news" sites and the criticism that "ethics in game journalism" was a b.s. pretext for something else. The "harassment" now looks like something vindictive moralistic borderline types have been doing to relatively normal people engaged in anything the tiniest bit unsavory or sexually forward (when they are men; women get a pass and a pass and a pass)

That culture war ended surprisingly
