On the other hand, Notre Dame making it to the MNC and getting plastered would be a proper sendoff to the pre-playoff era of the BCS.

I'm torn between wanting to see two good teams in the game or see the BCS made to look like as much of a joke as possible.

ND won't beat USC, so it's moot.

So a previously mediocre Big 12 team beats the best SEC team and the SEC team stays at no. 1? Really AP? Quite a few teams in the Pac-12 and Big 12 as well as ND and tOSU could wreck Bama's shit on a bad week. Dat SEC self sustaining hype.

Is there a B1G version of Finebaum? Because this needs some kind of generalization about burning couches, playing cornhole and eating bratwursts.

Had family this weekend, so wasn't able to stay on. Obviously watched the entire game.

Congrats to the Ags. Bama had chances to take the game at the end, and didn't get it done. Ags won fair and square. The Sumlin hire is looking like gold, right now.

Until either of them lose, I'm pulling for an Oregon / KSU matchup in the MNC. I think ND would get destroyed by either.

Well, at least a GIF came out of yesterday's Northwestern fallout to Michigan.

Coach Fitzgerald celebrating a late hit call.

We've got 2 of the 3 components for the BCS rankings... Just no computer rankings other than Sagarin, so my computer rankings are very close to last weeks accounting for teams that lost or had a huge win...

aTm looks to be taking a huge leap with Clemson also taking a decent jump. I didnt' see Florida State's computer rankings jumping much, but they could easily be swapped with Clemson. Actually, from 8-12, I could see some significant variability based on the computers given that they're only .03 apart in my guesstimate. Finally, my computer averages are based on whole integers, whereas in the BCS they're the decimal value, so K-State could average a 1.6 on the computer ranking which would make a huge difference in the computer portion.

He is most likely reporting what I posted this morning.

Word is Dooley will not be fired this week since the team still has a bowl game to play for.

The decision to fire him is made and if we win out the next two weeks he will be announced as fired after the Kentucky game.

If we were to lose to Vandy and bowl game is then out of the question he would be fired that subsequent Monday.

Everyone in program very much wants a bowl game for the new coach to come in and get to know the team.

I don't really see the need to wait. It's not like we have some amazing recruiting class to salvage or anything. Also I'll be able to take back to back games where UK/VU drop 40+ on us a little better when I know it'll all be over soon.

Regardless though, I don't see us making an impact hire/anything significantly better than a lateral move. I just honestly don't know how you fix this.

edit: That's Hubbs right? I'm calling bullshit. Even the media guys are calling it though, shit's over. Our shit AD needs to just put him down already.

...Clemson ahead of FSU?

I hadn't noticed until your post that the computers like Clemson more than FSU. Can this all be chalked up to the bad NC State loss? Either way, it's fun to look at the disparity between the humans and the computers when it comes to the ACC.

Lots of money is really the only way at this point. Make someone turn down 5-6 million a year.

It probably helps us that our loss was against a top 10 BCS ranked team and their loss was against...well...you know.

There is no way to logically argue that Clemson should be ranked ahead of FSU. Neither should be ranked particularly high, but still. You can't argue how good the losses are when Clemson's loss is against FSU.

How does Oregon have that many more votes over KState? I'm shocked by that. I know Oregon has an exciting offense and everything, but I feel much more confident about KState winning over them.

Because the heroic voters in these polls agree that we're more awesome than K-State. Suck it, defense! Suck it, SEC sheep!

I just don't see K-State beating us unless they can stop our running game AND our passing. I can see them holding back Barner and Thomas but Mariota is such a better passer than Darron Thomas, which makes us a lot more dangerous than we were in 2010. Yes, teams can prepare to stop our run, but our passing is just as good. Cal demonstrated last night that stopping one but not the other still results in our offense getting 50+ points.

Our defense is an issue right now, but it has a lot to do with injuries. Most of them should be back in soon I would think.

Yep. Our strategy two years ago (fake injuries aside) was to stop the run at all costs, and make Thomas have to go to the air. It damn near succeeded (college kickers lol).

We did the same thing in last night's game, and Mariota destroyed us. Dude is a legit QB.

I'm not arguing anything. I'm explaining how the BCS calculation would put us ahead of FSU. We don't even know if the posted BCS rankings are accurate.

I hope La Tech somehow gets into a BCS game. I mean, they gave A&M a better game than Bama did. $10 mil of BCS money going to a defunct conference full of FBS startups, instead of one of the PAC 12 or Big 12 would be due justice.

read people... They aren't accurate... They're a guesstimate based on where I think the computer rankings could fall and what that means for the overall BCS. We don't get the true rankings until 8:30PM EST.

What I could say is that if Clemson is ahead of FSU by more that 3.6 spots in the computers, then Clemson will be ahead of FSU in the BCS rankings. For week 10, Clemson was ahead by exactly 3.0 points in the computers. And Louisville and Oregon State lost who were ahead of both in the computers (Oregon State was 8th in the computers and Louisville was 13th)

Because Clemson lost to FSU on the road. Clemson would beat FSU at a neutral site.

The computers are not going to account for every head-to-head matchup when determining rankings, and losing to a 9-1 team doesn't look as bad as losing to a 6-3 team.

As far as the humans go, there weren't any other games on Thursday, so everyone had a chance to watch FSU narrowly escape Virginia Tech this week.

It looks like Derrick Dooley has finally been fired. He was a good guy, but his record was going to catch up with him sooner or later. I would love for us to go after Grubin, I know his name was tossed around the last time, but i dont know how realistic that is...

It's a question of whether you are ranking the teams as "best season" or "best team right now". LSU had some awful games against Towson and Auburn, but I'd still pick them to beat FSU. Human pollsters seem governed by inertia: they usually will not drop a team unless they lose (or a team below them has a much bigger win). Personally I would like to see the computers have a bigger say in the rankings so long as their formulas were more transparent. They at least aren't slaves to the preseason rankings and the "eye test", whatever that means.

You forget that OT game with Purdont and those 95 points you allowed to Indiana? Sounds about right to me.

Past few weeks defense has been playing lights out and this team has not had an issue with teams who like to line up and run it right at ya. See Michigan St game. Not to mention Wisc has been pretty bad are are starting a backup qb. Not to mention Wisc lost to UNL who we obliterated and lost to sparty as well. Wisc has yet to beat any good or even average teams.
