It's not that I think he'd be biased. I have no idea. But I do know as someone who's an admin on another message board, you tend to better protect the topics that you have more interest in. It's just the way it is. Nothing wrong with that, really. But with that said, there are what, maybe 25 mods here or so? And maybe 10-15 frequent the gaming forum. So out of those,

And despite this large imbalance, the next person modded is SonyCowboy. *shrug* As if the gaming forum somehow needed that. But as I said above, whatever. It's just disappointing they don't strive for more balance.

My theory about the current state of the gaming forum is that it is currently in the throes of LAUNCH MADNESS, and within a month or so it will largely have corrected itself. The holidays are usually chaotic and even moreso this year.

I don't know the real reasoning behind modding sonycowboy, but I have a feeling he's going to be in charge of talking with the NPD.

If I was mod I would hold contests every Friday, the winner of which would have mod immunity for one hour with which he (or she) could do whatever they want.

What kind of contests you ask? Official sanctioned videogame competitions (Gears of War, Counterstrike, Mario Kart, Tetris, Madden, whatever) and freestyle rap battles held every Thursday.

aside from his handle, Sonycowboy only has a bias pertaining to rational thought.

Go through his post history, look for some outragious stuff, you won't find it. He's levelheaded and I expect him to be as professional in his duties as he is in his posting.

A year or more ago, I would've agreed. But he's had a bit of an insanity streak lately. Like his posts have gotten downright weird...

I can dig up examples if you'd like.

I dont think Sonycowboy is that bad, I mean yea he likes Sony but he doesnt constantly troll like some do. Would you guys rather have Drinky or MAF back. I remember when I didnt post that much and just came in here to get game news and basicly every thread was a Drinky, MAF troll thread and there was nothing the mods could do.

I have an issue with his bias.

Drinky & MAF were great mods.

The decline of Neogaf's gaming forum to the drek that it is now can be traced to their dissappearance.

Uhh huh. Did you miss the part where he claimed every 3rd party game would without a doubt look better on PS3. Or his weekly post on how horribly dissapointing 360 sales are.

It's a transition period for gaming. Everyone's hackles are up; it's like election years raise partisan tempers. I agree that it should mostly blow over in a few months.

Even MAF admitted he was a pretty bad mod. I never knew how much we really needed DC until he left. Although, it's probably his fault that the NeoNintendo fans are so uppity.

It's all true, though! True, I tells ya! He tries really hard to sound balanced, but it's all so transparent. Who cares about the Gaming Forum, anyway. It's all gone to hell. I think Sales-Age put the nail on the coffin. :( Well, that and the last influx of retarded juniors.

$20 says Triumph Dolomite 1300cc is the next mod. Because

1) I have a sneaking suspision he is hot in real life and
2) #1 is the only thing that matters.

Pretty much my theory as well. I think a month is a bit too optimistic though, I don't see things really settling down until summer, maybe even next fall. Basically, just give everyone enough time to experience all of the new systems in some form and work past their initial bias, be it positive or negative, providing them with more to say than LOL WAGGLE XBOX 1.5, MICROTRANSACTIONS, and 4D. After that, ideally, the forum will return to sensibility until the next round of systems appears.

Also, sonycowboy's acting as our NPD liason, so his expertise in that regard will greatly benefit the community. By all means though, carry on with your worst case scenarios.
