Cops make surprising gesture when couple refuses to sit near them

Well no, but generalizing is generalizing, it's either acceptable or bad, you can't have it both ways.

You make generalizations everyday about everyone and everything because the time it would take to learn all the facts about each individual thing or person would be prohibitive to living your life. The bottom line is that police reform is needed and nobody who knowingly joins a corrupt institution is above suspicion.

Today, I watched a video of a black man that said to stop blaming white people for the problems some have faced. I found nothing, but racist comments from colored people. This shit is getting crazy now. I'm hot right now because black people called him..and I QUOTE, "a coon." The fuck am I reading now? We need to unify and stop referring to ourselves as a color. I'm sick of it. Fucking sick. Now cops pay for a bill and they are bastards? The fuck is happening in this world? We need cops....are people suggesting we get rid of cops? OK. lets fucking do it. I'm legit sweaty mad. I'm tired of the racist talk from both sides and people looking for anything. WHY THE FUCK CAN"T WE JUST LIVE. We're all going to die. Come on. The universe doesn't give a shit about us so lets atleast give a shit about each other.

The reactions are mostly to the note bro.

A lot of black people are getting tired of being kicked in the ass and when we have enough anger to actually speak out about it someone says "hey stop doing that, we need to unify and your actions are just tearing us more apart". No my words or protests aren't tearing us apart it's the system of white supremacy many of us find ourselves oppressed by and the complete willful ignorance of it that is tearing us apart. Don't kick me and then tell me not to react!

So how about for once we see some efforts for unification from the other side and stop depending on blacks to do all the work.

This is the kind of boot straps talking point said by people that don't actually want things to get better, or to make things easier, and yes, more fair, because they managed to make it. It's useless chatter predominately covered by conservatives, regardless of skin color (aka Stephen A Smith)

You say you want to unify, but that kind of statement is doing the exact opposite.

stats show that Black cops are actually more likely to shoot and kill Black civilians.

Why though? Is it racism or a "race" being held down and resorting to bullshit? We need to start asking these questions. Instead of everyone being a racist. As a white male I'll gladly admit there is not fair treatment, but it isn't every white males fault. It's the officials fault, but today it seems like cop wanted to say, "hey I know you don't like us but here is a nice gesture." Yet...hell is breaking loose.

are you saying the cops are all bad? because i saw people suggesting that we get rid of bad cops... your comment only makes sense if you think all cops are bad. if they are, then yes, we need to get rid of all of them.

I don't get the idea someone has done something wrong or should inherently be an object of scorn for simply being a cop.

That idea just seems insanely counter productive.

Can you clarify the bolded?

What are you trying to say?

I'm guessing you watched one of those videos designed specifically to shame black people for those racist facebook/youtube likes. Shame those poor colored people couldn't listen to what the good one was preaching.

I live in TN. The Nashville chapter of BLM will not let a person of NC attend the meetings. The message is about equality, yet someone of a different color cannot attend. How is that not racist? There is racism all around. It's time to stop it.

Would you attend it either way?

Just stop. You sound like one of those people that use BET as an example of racism.

I don't know what IMBA is. And hey, it's your choice to hold that position, I just think it's going too far in the other direction.

Then I propose that gay people take that same stance with regards to Catholics, Muslims and Jews. Part of an aforementioned religious organization? Well then fuck off you homophobic, bigoted piece of shit! (Hell, I actually wouldn't mind that. I wonder how many people will join me in this line of thinking? What? Crazy? Get outta town!)

I mean,

gay people kind of do that, sometimes. You're going to find a fair few gay people who are legitimately terrified of Christians.

i feel like this tweet can't be re-posted enough

Wow, how right-on-the-money.

That note reads to Passive-Aggressive. Or is that just normal Pennsylvania dialect?

The meetings were held in a local library and BLM said white people could not attend. The library said the location was a tax payer location and that anyone could attend. BLM responded by changing locations to a CHURCH that would not let people of certain color attend. Racism is racism not sure what your argument is.

I'm not seeing the scorn for these cops, although some might feel it comes across a bit disingenuous, but i'm not feeling particularly sentimental here, and could not give a care about this essentially meaningless gesture. It's not doing anything for an ongoing, and increasingly pressing issue.

Oh I'm not talking about this gesture in particular, more so some of the reactions in this thread.

What is weird about respecting police officers? This whole ideal terrifies me honestly. It's going to get to the point they wont come to do their job because people want their, "gotcha" moment. It's sickening now.

Bwahahaha

Too fuckin late for that dude, cops in certain areas haven't come to do their job in decades

Ah so you're a troll

Yeah, TaterTots is pretty ridiculous. I sent a PM to them once telling them that one of their posts was kind of offensive, and they got really defensive and suggested that I was looking for things to be negative about (the post was specifically about him citing his appreciation of trans porn as why he wasn't transphobic - or something to that effect).

Eh, you may not care, but when I was 12 I lived in a poverty neighborhood. Our fence was ran over one night during a drive by and the shooter decided to drop his firearm in our lawn. Cops responded immediately. I'm not sure what you're trying to say. We were the only white family on the block, but I'm guessing the responded quickly because we were white? Most of these responses are drive by racist comment. It's wack.

Black people wanting to meet and discuss problems facing our community and potential solutions are racists now. Yeah, I've heard it all now.

ohhhhhh...you think I attended these meetings in person. Well, no, I did not. I'm just aware of the story because I live in the state. However, me being shot or not does not dictate racism. Racism isn't defined by one being shot. Not sure what you're going on about.

I... well... I'm not sure what to say except this post is amazing in how misguided it is.

Cops not a fan of profiling and thinking of them as violent.

That shit hurts don't it? And they didn't even get pulled over for no reason or have to worry about getting shot.

My word

how have you lived life so ignorantly for so long

The fact that racism might not end in violence doesn't stop it from being racism. Look, nobody is arguing that what many of these cops are doing isn't worse. The shootings and police brutality against black people is horrific and wrong. That doesn't mean that it's ok for other, more passive agressive forms of racism to occur like not letting white people show their support for a movement like BLM. One side being more wrong (and in this case it's much more wrong) does not necessarily make the other side infallible.

Also, the idea that good cops should quit or go on strike in response to these situations seems kind of absurd, given the implications (That now everyone left involved in law enforcement is the worst of the worst). As for not speaking up: Just because they're not making a big public statement doesn't mean it isn't happening. Maybe many of the good cops aren't in a position where they can make a big stink without risking their jobs and risking their ability to feed their family.

Wait.....so if you believe white people are racist and a group of white people realize how fucked the situation is and want to help and progress...its ok to turn those people away that want to destroy those walls? How is this not racism and going against the message? This is the whole point I'm trying to make. This is not real.
