CoroCoro Pokemon Info: New Zygarde Forms, New Anime (XY & Z)

This is so NOT happening. Time to let go of that dream because it's over.

More like celebration of the entire series and not just the first games.
How do you know it's not happening? It I s just speculation and I'm not wrong for having that. :P

So if Zygarde is Zygarde 50% I guess Zygarde Cell and Zygarde 10% are going to be completely useless.... Zygarde Perfect looks really weird, I don't like that he has legs and is so black.

Also I find it super weird that they didn't announce Z version but announced that the anime is getting the name XY and Z.

Someone had the idea earlier of you encountering Zygarde Core/Cell early in the game and it gets stronger and changes form as the game continues.

In a sense it would be an evolving legendary that starts out useless, becomes average strength in its 10% form, strong-but-not-quite legendary in its 50% form before finally becoming a powerhouse in its perfect form, probably after the elite four.

That might be an explanation as to why Zygarde is pretty lame stats wise, as it is a legendary they expect you to use throughout the main story.

That's just my guess though.

Inb4 Zygarde Core is the starter pokemon for Z

Dog form looks pretty meh, love the look of the perfect form though.

Hope we can get alternate colour starters at least. Might be interesting if they could tie that to trainer customisation.

then why does the poster show having a stare down with noivern instead of greninja?

It looks like the usual Mega Sceptile pose where its back is actually pointed toward its target, which would mean its eyes aren't actually pointed toward Noivern.

However, I have no opinion on whose Sceptile it is lol.

You already can, just SR a billion times =p

I'm thinking Greninja might be a tie-in for a feature that lets you alter the appearance of Pokemon and only has a cosmetic effect. I can't see Human/Trainer fusion happening now when Megas are the main "event" for this gen.

Edit: Oh, What if Furfrou was the Precursor to this?

Dude, another set of Kanto remakes seems really redundant when XY spent half its time pandering to 1st gen. Maybe FRLG will get its turn at some point down the road, but in Gen 6? It's not looking likely. Which is good, because focusing all your attention on the first iteration of a franchise isn't the only way to handle a big anniversary release.

I don't think we're getting two games btw, just Z. I don't see why they'd name it Perfect Zygarde if there was another alternate form to it, plus all the forms go into eachother.

That'd actually be pretty cool, kinda like a second starter Pokemon. It'd be something totally new in a Pokemon game, raise a Legendary from a week baby to a powerful Kaiju.

Being a Kaiju and having Hoopa be 21 feet, Perfect Zygarde being a bit under 15 feet is kinda underwhelming, lol. I mean it has no effect on the game, just thought it was weird.

Yeah I don't agree with the Trainer fusion theory either since Ash is in that poster along with Greninja. Even if it did happen, there's no way they would introduce something like that mid-generation.

Being tied to new customization features in Z is the most likely thing right now because I doubt it's an anime-exclusive thing. Corocoro isn't one to usually hype anime-related things unless they're tied to the games.

It is likely nothing to do with fusion, and if it was, why would the colour of his hat be fused over to Greninja too?

It's likely a mega that takes on characteristics of the trainer as has been mentioned, or it is a regular Mega Greninja which has had a anime-only makeover for some reason.

I like this idea and i can see it being in Z easy.

I'm gonna go with regular Greninja with a slight makeover just like spiky eared Pichu. If it turns out to be a fusion thing... yeah... goodbye Pokémon.

I'm guessing a fusion but it'll be a one-off thing like Spiky Eared Pichu and not like Kyurem but with a trainer.

I would totally love to have that! Level 5, Zygarde Core, stats similar to an average starter Pokémon or slightly better. :)

Could make for something quite fun, especially if the story ends up getting "tailored" to the fact that you always have this starter.

Zygarde Golem form looks like a fusion between Xerneas and Yveltal.

His dog form looks cool as well.

And that's totally Mega Greninja, I take it Ash get's a Greninjaite sometime in the anime or maybe in the movie?

If you do get Zygarde early on I wonder how it will go, I mean Core and Cell need to merge to become the brain, So will you start with the Core and then at a certain point in the story you will encounter some Cells and then they merge and you get 10%? And after that what is going to be the cause for Zygarde going 50% and then Perfect? I'm super curious about all of this!

And then the replacement for getting your Kanto starter between the first and second gyms would be getting a Kalos starter.

Actually the idea of getting Zygarde early in the games makes a lot of sense, my question is how the percentage works. Would he just slowly evolve in the game until he reaches 100%? Or does Zygarde doesn't have levels but rather percentages, at what is traditionally level 1 is 1% and then evolves to the next stage at 10% AKA level 10?

I'd imagine it would happen at certain story points, or the crtieria for changing forms becomes available at different points, like say you get the ability to change into Zydoge after the second gym, and then into Zygarde after the 6th/8th, and then into Zyju in the post game

I feel like you may get Mecha Zygarde during the final evil team fight of whatever legend they send at you. Just seems more gamefreak to give you something that powerful before the league.

I doubt Pefect Zygarde will be post game, it'll definitely be for the climax of the story.

True, I'm trying to think of it from a balance perspective, but lolGamefreak

I meant in terms of the Ash's Greninja not shiny Pokemon. Having those three Pokemon adapt to your trainer through the game would be a nice touch even though it would be useless.

First of all, Zygarde is getting not 1, but 3 new forms. The little green blob we've been seeing is Zygarde's core form that acts as its brain. He will also be getting a dog like form called Zygarde 10% as well as the golem like form we've seen in teasers, Zygarde Perfect Form.

You know nothing, fool! It's Chaos! The God of Destruction! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Garde dog is cool. Mecha Zygarde looks really lame imo. I like the Norse Fenrir/Jorgunmandr/Hel connection though.

I doubt that is anything more than an anime-only look for Greninja (as a result of their bond so strong or something). Or...Southern Kalos alternate design? :P

Wow, boy, those are... huh. Not really feeling it. Thankfully I was planning on skipping the inevitable third versions anyways.

I really like the idea that the tiny Zygarde could be your starter in Pokémon Z; getting stronger and changing as you progress in the game. Anything to change things up, honestly (even though I'm not liking Dog Zygarde).

About the Ash-Greninja: Although I still think that's some anime-only thing, I saw that some people brought up the possibility that it could be tied to customization. I've been thinking lately about how I'd like them to make Pokémon more customizable, appearance wise. Even if it's just being able to give my Dunsparce a top hat that he'll wear during battles, I just want something that would make Pokémon more unique than nicknames.

Come to think about it, I wonder if they'll level cap your own Zygarde while you're before certain plot points if form changes are determined by level.
