Iamnotthereorthere's posts are so thorough, they're great.
I notice the only people trying to link significant moments from Dark Souls 2 are people whose first Souls game was DS2.
And yeah, the game has a bit too much fan-service at times but he needs to stop going "I don't think I'm gonna like where this is heading." every time something like that comes up. Dark Souls 2 tore up the DS1 lore and took a dump on it and he came out saying (at the time) that he might prefer it.
If you think carefully you will seethat there will always be flame somehow. I dont think either age can stay forever.
Can you stop with this already?
Comments like that are not only divisive but they're inaccurate as well: I'm one of the persons that's trying to tie DS2 to DSIII as much as I'm trying to tie it to the original. I've played all the games and started with Dark souls one, which is my favorite game in the series.
This thread is about the lore, about findings that help us understand what's happening in the world of DSIII and how we can tie it to the previous games. You have the right to express you didn't like one of the games but let's not transform this thread into another DSII hate thread. I mean, you can try to ignore it if you want but even in Firelink shrine you have some blatant references to DSII... Even the posts of that reddit user tie DSII events with what's happening in DSIII.
In his youth, Leonhard suffered grave burns to his entire body. His face in particular, which he hid beneath his mask, was terribly scalded.
innit! Why was he exiled? The huge lack of lore on ludleth is really weird :/
Maybe we are missing something?
One of Courland's transposed wonders. Derived from the soul of a Soulfeeder.
The Soulfeeder was a beast that insatiably absorbed souls to feed its own power. Even after its accursed corpse was burned, it is said that the pungent stench of souls left the air permanently stained."
I know firekeepers in general aren't really special and there's been many.
I'm just wondering about her tiara which seems to have something crawling inside, and I'm just wondering about the parallels in the intro showing her in a similar way thn Anastasia in DS1. And even Anastasia at least had a tiny been of background. In this case, there's nothing at all.

makes sense!Considering the state of his body I thought that Courland himself was the beast that feeds on souls... As if he's consuming the souls we give to him.

and the ring he drops got me intrigued

The fire keeper mentioning him knowing something about her being is interesting too.
Feel like he knows a lot more than he lets on during the game

Well he does know about UD Firelink and that the eyes of the firekeeper will reveal a world full of Dark, born of betrayal.

mmmmmmmm dis lore, Irina's ashes
"Irina was a frail woman. This frailty led to her becoming a saint of Carim, and to her grand treachery."
regarding the Untended Graves, I kinda hope it's just another Firelink (perhaps related to Artorias in one way or another) and not more than that :/ because I hated it
I wonder if people have tested for interactions between the dusk set and karla
Hammer of the Four Knights, writhing in the dark.
Sounds a lot similar to 4 Kings right? Imagine one of the DLC's being on Londor and we have to fight the 4 Knights of Gwyn, corrupted by the Abyss? HOLY SHIT HYPE
Let me dream
Not sure why dreaming is necessary, fighting old bosses in reused areas would be the least surprising DLC possible.
Related, after fighting that FUGS invader in Catacombs and dying and receiving him a gesture from him, I realized how garbage the DLC will be if it DOESN'T feature a literal meme giantdad invader that gives you Well What Is It? if he kills you.
God dammit, I feel disgusting knowing that this is what I want.
Is there any evidence within DSIII of the fire ever going out (i.e., Age of Dark happening at any point)?
To me it definitely looks that way in the Untended Graves area.
I thought that was either a vision of the future where the fire goes out or just the Abyss.
