Detroit Become Human - E3 2016 Trailer

Seems more like HR than Beyond, I'm glad. The setting ain't the most original thing ever, but it's still a pretty interesting theme to explore.

It makes PERFECT sense.

Cage can't make believable human characters, so he just sidesteps the issue by making them androids.

It's so brilliant I can't believe I didn't think of it.

I don't think he's writing the script this time, and the game was wanted (Kara) so they went with the android that has a mind of it's own angle already.

Took a few grabs from the less compressed video Gamersyde has up. Still not native quality, but it looks pretty good and is confirmed real time on a regular PS4!

Seems like they actually abandoned black bars? Very interesting

Not generally a fan of the Quantic Dream stuff, but this looked really cool. I love the concept, and it feels like something the developer could pull off, even with their usual propensities.

I like how throwback the title is. Sounds like some obscure game from like the PS1 era.

Would be cooler if it was just "Detroit" though. lol

I hope the other protagonists/situations can deliver a similar feel to this trailer because this whole sequence was hitting all the right notes for me. Give me Blade Runner hotness

The initial Kara reveal seemed so far removed from this though, but I suppose it could work. Even Blade Runner had Rachel (and to a lesser extent) Priss just trying to blend in outside of the main plot

The style in this sequence was so on point. Give it to me nowwwwwww

Wow at the cynicism in this thread at one of the few companies and creators actually trying to pushing forward choice driven, narrative-focused "cinematic" (yes I used the term) games despite their numerous (and legitimate) criticisms and failures.

Someday this will evolve into something more. These are stepping stones.

I like it - like the direction of this and the Kara stuff. Been a big fan of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Can't wait to pick this up.

Jeez this looks so dreary. I am not sure the trailer emphasized the right things. It looks like a game where you play out the same depressing standoff over and over with slight variations so that any sense of importance or weight to your actions is completely lost. If you can just change it next time then what does anything matter?
It seems like that can't be the game they are making but it sure looks like it from the trailer.
Skip.

You are not replaying this standoff multiple times unless you force quit the game before it can save. The game will continue even on the very first outcome they showed. Yes it will continue if Connor dies, he is gone from the story then. They showed how different it CAN play out based on your choices. But you are not encouraged to replay until you get a desirable outcome, the devs actually don't want you to do that. You can experiment on the next full playthrough. There will never be a time where you are forced to rewind and replay and every scenario in the game is unique. There might not be another scene like this in the entire game after this one.

I think this is why I am not loving it.. I feel like I've been told this story before and David is just Gona make it worse.
You have been told nearly every story before though. Of course this will have an unique spin somewhere, need to have a 12 hour game after all

This reveal was meh...not sure if that was in-game or not...kind of weird.

I'll still look forward to more info and footage ...

Edit: realtime I see.

This could make for a nice VR game though...not so much a great controller game.

I thought it was just going to be Kara but I'm willing to give naahman 9000 a shot. It's an interesting angle. I imagine the two will interact at some point. I wonder what the other characters will be. Will they all be androids?

I'm really looking forward to this, though I still don't know if I'll buy it. I enjoyed Heavy Rain but didn't pick up Beyond: Two Souls. BUT I'm really interested in stories related to AI / androids and this demo/trailer was fantastic. The character models look less uncanny valley-ish than Until Dawn too.

I'll be hoping that BroTeamPill plays through this in a series of streams. David Cage writing is funny in a Tommy Wiseau-esque fashion.

Visuals are appealing, for sure. Cage writing still blundering it up though, that is pretty clear.

I'm catching up on shit as I'm on vacation and I almost did not watch the trailer for this game due to some comments I saw here. Well I'm really glad I decided to watch it as this looks fantastic. Day 1.

Android skills.

Depth of field's causing some of the chunky aliasing I think, performance looks much better than early HR/BTS footage though. I noticed a few iffy looking assets and the water ripple looked a bit plasticy but really nice lighting and materials on the whole.

This is likely going to be their biggest game yet production wise, so that makes some sense. Might still see some improvements down the line, especially with a Neo version rumoured (or I mean it pretty much will happen since this is late 2017 at the earliest). Cool of them to show off the regular version though and have it be stable at 30 fps already from the looks of things. Might be their best performing game yet as well :P

Not a big fan of Cage, but this is the game that I look forward to the most from what's been shown. Curious to see whether this will be a leap forward in interactive story telling or a step back.

I'm still waiting for my LA Noire detective replacement game...not sure if this will be it but I'll give it a go. GF loved HR and UD so the more cinematic games the merrier, I say.

The first half of the trailer is running 60fps most of the time, the latter half falls back to 30, I wonder why they went like that instead of constant 30fps (this as a 60fps fanatic)

Anyway, I'm hype, can't wait to play it with my wife accompanying me. We did that with Heavy Rain and it was the one and only game we played together. So David Cage is special for me in that regard, no matter how much hate and flak he gets.

Not a fan of his writing but Cage has always been an amazing director.

I'm in.

It doesn't look bad...almost good...but then i think David Cage and it scares me

Yeah I'm bracing myself for almost rape/ android rape and gratuitous shower scenes.

More detective work, less angsty android existentialism please. I don't even see how the android thing is relevant here. You could have done the same scene with people.
