No, it really doesn't look okay. And this is actually worse than the 360 version of the first DA.TheFLYINGManga_Ka said:It looks okay.
I hope it's not worse than the 360 version of the first game.

PS2 is kind of stretching it. The IQ is too good.SimpleDesign said:Fixed.

It's not a leak, either. BioWare signed off on these. Maybe they have bigger balls than I thought.WanderingWind said:I'm not sure it has, actually. They're clearly trying to appeal to the crowd of people who wouldn't normally touch a classic CRPG-style of game, but I think that's a fools errand.
These screenshots should have never left the editor's computer, and there is somebody in that chain that is solely responsible for polishing these shots up. They failed in that regard.
It's still pretty early. So I'm sure they'll touch it up.SimpleDesign said:Maybe this is their way of demanding more time from EA to work on the game.

They must have hired a bunch of the people who worked on Lord of the Rings Conquest.

Maybe more comparable to Morrowind?Fimbulvetr said:Pretty sure XII was known for it's relatively good texture work so that's a no-no.

Also, I just have to throw this in here. I think BioWare's Dragon Age team has to catch up. I thought Dragon Age looked horrible compared to Mass Effect 2, Demon's Souls, or Final Fantasy XIII. The character models were atrocious and the animation was very rigid and without life in them. The backgrounds also looked like cardboard set pieces. Instead of actual trees they looked like cut outs from a pop-up book and the mountains looked washed out.
Maybe it's because I play DA on the 360 but that's no excuse since Mass Effect 2 and FFXIII look amazing on the system.
The DA team need to step up their game! And seeing how so many are disappointed with these new screens, maybe I'm right here?
I was also talking about the character models and animation in DA. I think they are pretty bad. If you have a very strong PC the characters do look better, but it's still a step behind compared to FFXIII or Mass Effect 2. And the animation is definitely bad.hermit7 said:Eh they are different game types. One has a fixed perspective, while the other can shift from third person to isometric. Furthermore there is significantly more content in DA compared to Mass Effect. While DA may be linear (in some ways). They need to create many more environments than both ME and FFXIII.

You guys just don't get it. It's the 2000-2002 PC game revival look. But I guess you have to hate on everything, Gaf.
The PC versions combat system remains mostly the same. The PC version implements the same strategic approach afforded by a mouse-and-keyboard control scheme. Rather than try to mimic the PC experience on consoles, Dragon Age II has a battle system more tailored to the strengths of the PS3 and 360.
Cels said:I got DAO on PS3 since I didn't and still don't have a PC that can handle it (netbook lol). I still enjoyed the game and the PS3 version isn't all that different from PC so I don't believe I missed on out too much.
But...
That is from the greywardens blog. I wonder what they mean by less strategic strategic combat on PS3/360. I hope they don't dumb it down too much, DAO wasn't too complex for console-players like me...
voady said:I think Dragon Age was getting more and more boring near the end and this screenshot looks awful...there is no more interest in this game.
Preferably I'll be re-playing FF6...at least the story isn't clear before you watch the last scene... I mean DA:O had no real twist you just decide if you want to kill Person A or not. That's your imagination of decission -.-.
If you kill A you get his Hammer or the Sword. If you Partner up with him you get the Shield. But no matter what your current equipment is already a lot better.
Seriously what most of the people call WRPG > JRPG becuase of "open world" and "choice" is just a very big imagination.
