The Super Saiyan 2 Kid Gohan transformation episode stood out as well. Also one of the Goku vs Vegeta fights in the Buu Saga, Vegetto after he turns Super Saiyan Saga, the final episode of Goku vs Cell, one of Goku vs Cell fight episode as well, and the original Goku vs Vegeta with the beam battle was nicely animated.

lol at Toei

makes a well animated episode last week which was mostly comedy

screws up on the main episode that is more important :/

They should've just used the footage from Battle of Gods

JJBA had crappy art in the beginning and improved after Phantom Blood. No reason DBS cannot improve once they have a good workflow down. And by good I mean have it all like Episode 4, which is the best episode thus far.

Sounds like Toei alright. The final episode of Gohan vs Cell was kinda ugly as well in my opinion, it still wasn't as bad as Super though. Thankfully the final episode of Goku vs Buu wasn't.

There's also a short but pretty nice moment in either the first or second episode of Goku fighting Frieza. And in general, Goku vs Frieza was so long that it must have had a few good animation episodes within the whole thing.

But from Namek in general, I think Recome fights are the nicest still.

what saddens me is that Toei could do well animated stuff like their movies (Film Z and BOG) and some episodes but there priorities are all off

they should've saved the budget used for last week for this week

Thankfully their priorities isn't as bad as the studio that does Naruto. They gave some of the most important scenes shit tier animation and art.

This episode was weird. As many have already said, the SS1 and 2 scenes were MS Paint garbage while the SS3 sequence actually looked nice.

Toei is frustrating, they could still make business investing in good animators, because they're using the less risky anime franchise of all time, not a niche dark seinen or something.

Aside from the expected bad art, I still have faith in Super. It's been entertaining even though I already know what's going to happen in the first 2 arcs, so hopefully things will get exciting once Champa appears and then when we finally get to the universe 6 arc.

Even if DBZ had its crappy animation moments, that is a show from the 90s. In 2015 with all the newest tech available at prices cheaper than ever before one would expect the animation to be, I don't know, serviceable?

If Toei can't even handle a fight at this level I don't know how they are going to manage city destruction level of fights.

Beerus says Goku at SSJ1 should have been a very tough fight in order to beat Frieza. He's gotta be wrong about that. SSJ1 Goku should wreck Frieza with ease.

Toriyama must have forgotten a lot of shit. Goku freaking parried the sword that sliced up Cyborg Frieza with his fucking finger. The same Frieza that shit his pants when Trunks turned Super Saiyan. Fought Perfect Cell that wasn't full powered, but would have killed Frieza just by talking to him.

Goku was holding back for most of the episode, so what Beerus saw probably wasn't even Goku's max power at ssj1.

But why hold back and go ssj 2 and ssj3?

Dam getting older and trying to make sense of stuff..

This its like ssj 1 goku gained nothing while in the hyperbolic time chamber or while being in the afterlife.

Pretty disappointing episode. We finally got a fight with Goku, but it's not nearly as fun when Beerus is just standing there. And as everyone has already mentioned the visuals were pretty dreadful. The animation and art style is really all over the place on this show and it's really jarring because of that. Feels like it's being drawn by several different studios.

Well, they are usually drawn with various teams whitin a studio. Hence why quality bumps sometimes happen (or badly ones).

I'm really shocked however that they didn't reuse material from the movie. I mean, that's like the biggest cost saver, literally reusing movie footage. Sure, some of the scenes are a bit different in the series but still. I'm really surprised.

Well it's clear that the fight got dragged out much more compared to BoG. They really can't rip much.

Well let's just see how the quality goes from here.

The movies are fun, but they omit too many potentially great scenes.

Frieza training, obtaining SSGSS form, etc.

That was only really a problem in RoF's case though. And with Super announced right after it, it's possible they always intended to keep those holes exactly because they knew there'd be a tv show covering the same story.

What I actually wished the tv series would do would be create some unique soldiers for Freeza's army to give everyone unique opponents, but that seems fairly unlikely with the way the show is going.

Saw the episode, not as bad as the screencaps suggest, if you freeze frame most animations you will get some funky shit 8/10 times.

Animation wise, the motions werent very well executed. The characters mostly moved in straight lines without any of the curves and secondary motion youd expect. I didnt mind the smear frames being low quality, as thats their purpose (too much detail and they will look stiff) but there were more than a few badly draw keyframes.

As an episode, much better than the last one, and I enjoyed the exchange between Beerus and Goku more here than in the movie. At least in the show he moved faster than a fat person

super the TV series makes the bad bits of the movie look good. I'm all for extending scenes that are interesting, and I was looking forward to ep5 all week, but this was not great. im keeping the movie as my canon. the episode needs redoing, frankly.

Meh, I didn't notice most of this while in motion and I enjoyed the episode. :)

Though is it just me or does Gregory look bigger/fatter than before? Just when he was close up near Goku while they were hiding, he looked bigger/fatter than I remember.
