Dragon Ball Super |OT| 28 Episodes Later

I personally didn't see anything wrong with the movie fight though. Unless the series is going to be more than 100 episodes, I personally don't see how 15ish episodes of retelling is going to be of a benefit.

to be fair that original 100 ep rumor was just the original order. You can always add on more episodes and as long as everyone is still free to they likely will as the ratings are holding steady for a 4-5th place anime finish for the series nearly double the ratings of the 10th place finishers.

I mean we are opening up multiple universes, that sets up a lot of potential new bad guys that can be conveniently stronger than the last without people ever hearing of them before.

Toriyama is my hero. Nobody ever created something so beloved by taking the lazy route every step of the way.

Just want to react on that.

There is nothing lazy involved in being a mangaka.

The inhumane conditions and pressure they work under should prevent people like you calling him Lazy. :/

Hmm that's a good point I suppose. I didn't think about it like that.

Although wouldn't this qualify as a big fight? Maybe next episode will look really incredible, but even though this one was better than average for DBS, it was still worse than average for other high-profile action anime [that I've seen this year].

Animation wise it's kind of underwhelming.

But anybody saying this DBSuper didn't look as good as other ongoing series (naruto, one piece etc..) is simply wrong.

Objectively.

It's hard to top that, it's a flawless rendition of his new character design.

Goku doesn't seem annoyed by the fact that he couldn't reach that level of power alone. That was kind of a big deal in the movie.

He'll probably come to that conclusion after feeling out the power a bit more. Right now, he's just a kid who's been taken to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time.

Goku being disappointed the power wasn't his own was a good bit of characterization from the movie like Vegeta putting aside his pride. As mentioned, it should be in the next episode (maybe one after that? Doubt it.).

This was a cool episode, as were all the little looks and shrugs Vegeta was giving. He's probably thinking of all the things he'll be able to do once he gets the power lol

The animation was at its best and there were mostly no horrible static images.

Now what, a couple more episodes of fighting and then Frieza? I remember in the movie Beerus realized in the end that he was still stronger than Goku but he was satisfied and left the Earth.

I have to say, for all the things Toriyama has done badly, Beerus was not one of them. Pretty cool "bad guy". Now that I think about it, DBZs villains are consistently good: Raditz, Vegeta & Nappa, Frieza, A18 and 19, Cell... OK, maybe Buu was hit and miss, but his kid Buu form was amazing just for the pure rage and destruction. Super Buu vs Gotenks was hilarious too.

I agree!

But I'm not watching either of those. I only read One Piece.

I'm only comparing it to other action anime TV series I watched this year, which on average are way way better than anything seen so far in Dragon Ball Super. I suppose I could come up with a list, but I'm not sure it's worth it. We all know DBS is fairly disappointing. ):

Yea agree with slaythe, being a mangaka is no joke, especially when you have a popular series, then your boss wil force you to extend the series regardless of quality to get extra bucks.

It'd probably be more accurate to say 'Nobody ever created something so beloved by making things up every step of the way'.

Just now watching Episode 10. When Goku flicked Beerus in the head and gave the chop, that was great. Best moment of the series so far. Hilarious.

Had to gif it

Figured this would be OK to drop here. Had some free time after lunch so I drew Teen Goku arriving at the Tenkaichi Budokai

I have a feeling the funi dub of this is still a while out. Buu Kai hasn't even been revealed as being officially worked on yet. Just weird comments by voice actors saying they've done Buu Kai stuff.

I think Sean Schemmel said he was done recording for Buu Kai already. Not sure why they're holding it. Maybe to wait for Kai to finish on Toonami and air it on there?

I guess? I'd say I'm more just indifferent. I've always been more of a fan of when Goku looks like Goku so I'm definitely more in favor of them reigning the transformations in, heh.

Would love for them to get the tails back.

Now that I can agree with. I always thought it was a cool character trait for Goku, and then they removed it for... reasons. Obviously it's been explained why, but it could've just... not happened, too, and they could've dealt with the problem somehow else.

):

There are spoilers for the next chapter of the Dragonball Super manga floating around. At least, in the manga, it sounds like we're jumping straight from Battle of Gods to Revival F, with no transition events between them. The chapter covers the Goku vs Beerus battle up to the end, which flows similarly to the movie, although Goku doesn't use SSJ after losing his power, just stays in base and afterwards goes back to SSJ God. It also adds a lot of stuff with Champa though, setting up RoF too
After learning about how Champa was searching for Dragonballs, Kaioshin went to Namek to gather them (in the previous chapter of the manga), but it turns out he wasn't after Namek's Dragonballs. Meanwhile, Freeza's army encountered a giant Dragonball, but they're all quickly wiped out by Champa, including the number 2 of the army. That's what convinces them to resurrect Freeza. Since he had already gathered the Dragonballs anyway, Kaioshin uses them to undo his fusion with Kibito.

I really wonder why there has been no Champa in the anime so far. Will Champa get an entire episode dedicated to him after the BoGs story is done? It doesn't sound like he can't just not appear in the anime until meeting Goku, considering Kaioshin's involvement.

they are likely waiting for the cartoon network series to catch up.

so like ... a year from now maybe

SS4 was a much better transformation that really did a much better job of incorporating the lore then anything before or even after it. Even the Super Saiyan God silhouette from BoG looks closer (I the figure looking like it had fur?) to that then just red haired Goku... Toriyama straight up pulled the next transformation out of his ass too.

I still believe GT is just in another universe.

Super Saiyan 4 is such a fucking good design. It doesn't deserve this.

SS4 is like...the dumbest thing in DragonBall. 'Oh, let's turn Goku back into a kid.' 'People don't like Goku as a kid again, but we don't wanna go back against him being a kid so let's do a new temporary Super Saiyan form that gives them adult Goku. YAY!' So fucking dumb. Don't even get me started on HOW it came about as well. Lazy ass lazy shit. SS4 looks like a Saiyan hit puberty for too long. It's amazing as a kid cuz you don't know any better, but when you grow up you realize how stupid it really is.

Don't like it. 3 gets rid of eyebrows, why would they come back with 4?

3 gives the impression that with every new Super Saiyan level they resemble Oozaru more (which has no eyebrows). 4 also gives this impression with the fur and everything but the regrown eyebrows and other weird stuff just ruin it.

Do we still not know FemWhis's real name? With how the manga's been processing, I'd thought they'd at least drop it in casual conversation.

But at least the rap explained to me what GT stood for.

Spoilers:
its "Grand Tour"

It's not like it mattered. I also knew what it stood for years before it came out here. I just hate the US intro so much, because it is the antithesis of the original intro, which I love so much.
