So they did change it then? If so great news for those who imported. Since before it did want a CC which was pretty much impossible unless you had a JP one.
I played for about an hour and a half, but I don't really feel like I've played quite enough to give any sort of opinion. Systems keep opening up and stuff changes, so I'm not sure yet. It wasn't that long ago that I got access to character switching, after all, which changes things a lot for me.
Played about 6 hours now and I really like this game. Dragon Quest music rocks, character designs are good enough in that style. Musou with tower defense combined and a good skill/equipment system which isn't confusing are plus points for me.
I only got 6-7? characters right now, but they all play very different and I love the special attacks. Game so far is very easy when you get the tower defense system by using monsters to protect your escort.
Liking it more than Hyrule Warriors so far.

Really impressive numbers for a console game in Japan these days.
It shouldn't be a problem for you. I'm about half way through the game and I've had no problems with the language barrier and I know next to no Japanese.
Here is a good link I found that shows the menus and shops translated, it may help some people out.

I'm really liking the monster coins they add a real nice level of strategy. I'm not feeling the flight mechanic though, I mean I know why it's there but for me it just doesn't work well and feels kind of cheap.
Does anyone have a link or know of somewhere that has a translated trophy list? I've looked around but can't seem to find one.

Been playing this all day and I can safely say that this is my favourite musou game so far.
Everything in the game feels really good and the combat has a lot of variation without being overly complicated. The only thing that could use a little work is the team AI as sometimes they just stand around on on some of the harder challenges when you really need them they just aren't there.
I'm not sure how far I am from finishing this but the difficulty is ramping up pretty good although it may have to do with my gear as I'm making accessories in the alchemy pot but I'm not 100% sure what they do lol so I may be a bit undergeared.
I really hope that if they make the next main line DQ game on console that they aim for a game that looks as good as this game I would honestly be disappointed if it was any less.

Btw would folks here consider the full trophy list spoilers? Since if not Ill just post the image instead of the link. Have just finished making it. Might have screwed up some translations as truthfully I fucking hate translating things as Im not a writer. lol

This has to be the first game of its ilk I've ever been interested in. Not a huge DQ fan, but the game looks like something worth buying. Gameplay seems satisfying and the visuals look fantastic.

Visually the game is quite impressive and it runs great on the PS4. Very happy with the game and purchase overall.

Something seems very different about it compared to other Musou games... the gameplay just seems a lot more satisfying and it honestly doesn't look repetitive at all. How's your experience going? Thoughts?

This game looks so amazing on PS4.
It also has a low language barrier to understand the general ideas behind the missions.

No idea considering that we do not know when localization had / has started. Though guessing that since they did the announcement so early, one would like to think that it is already in the process of being localized.
Most sensible thing is just to wait till an official announcement comes out, since no other way to tell really.

No idea. I dont really pay attention to 2ch.
The update came today/this morning JP time, it begins with quest 081 to 085, you have to go on a (random) mission to trigger it, recall (Evac/Outside) and Dirk will talk to you when you're back on the ship deck to give you quest 081

I don't know when you can pick them up actually, i was done with the game by the time the update came but judging by the difficulty comparing to the story quests, they're most likely mid or end game yes.

My copy arrived from Japan today. Super pumped to get home and try it - can't wait!
Finally got my copy yesterday , played about an hour ,maybe that's because I'm a bigger fan of Dragon Quest but this game is so much better than Hyrule Warriors. Graphics are really good, everything is super smooth and fluid It really feels like a next gen Musou game experience.
The music is sssoooooo good !
I'm going to play this again for sure in English since I understand little of the story (I wish the game used Furigana)
Can't wait to get back home tonight and play .

Thanks, that Menu translation will be a life saver. I just got to the part where I can switch party members. Really liking it so far.
Terry is very op, having him plus Alena who can also clone herself in your party is some crazy damage when you level them up.I jump between the both of them all the time.
