Is there a way to make it so voice doesn't come out of the controller...? >.>
I'm not even sure I understand the point it is already coming out of the TV.
edit: nevermind didn't realise there was a way to do it via PS4 menu.

I just go into device settings and under the controller, and turn off the speaker entirely. I have never found that feature to be of any value in any game. Just annoying usually.

I have a question too...I've been trying to translate some of the dialogue and menus with partial success using the google translate iphone app, but I can't seem to figure out how to change party members. I have gotten to the point where Clift and Alena join up with us on the ship.

head to the bar large red doors in there you talk yo the npc to change members.

I'm really enjoying it so far...just reached level 23 and just finished an escort mission. Deploying monsters using the coin system is a lot of fun. Trying to set the right monsters for the right situations in pretty interesting and it feels rewarding especially when you have a ton of huge monsters all duking it out.

I'm still not too far in, but Terry's R1 + circle skill, はやぶさ斬り, seems way overpowered. You can just murder anything with it as long as you don't get interrupted.

Cast R1 + X (Miracle Blade) first so you can leech life with every attack!

Perhaps you would know it better by the Totally Superior Hilarious Dragon Warrior name, INFERNOS.

I was reading a DQ guide and it said a weapon can be used as an item to cast INFERNOS, so I was like "Ohh! Sounds good". Went into battle and then used it...

...INFERNOS was just that crappy wind spell "Woosh". What the duck!

Edit: Oops, double post.

Heresy! The feature is great in GTA V, and also Transistor.

Hayabusagiri makes Terry super good for solo bosses and big enemies like trolls and less so for crowds. His attack starts getting outpaced as you go up in level too.

watched some videos and it looks quite good. I wanted to import this but considering that I still have to (receive and) start a game which I imported a month ago and I have a few others to finish I'll pass, for now.

Been watching some streams on my ps4 and the game looks pretty good. Like there's more to it than just a Dynasty Warriors reskin. Saw a guy saving and he had about 17 hours in the game. Wondering how long it'd take to do everything.

I really like the look of the game. Hopefully they make an actual Dynasty Warriors RPG again on current gen. I'd even take a remaster of DQ8. The visuals also make me want a remake of Chrono Trigger too.

I can't seem to find any other combination skills outside of Julietta's which stacks btw. You can do Bagicross + Burning bird + Powerful throw for giant flaming/slicing tornadoes.

Oh awesome I never thought of trying powerful throw.

Yeah does not seem like there are any other combinations. D: Though I wonder if Bianca can do anything with that lightning stuff of hers?

Is the character switching the OP mentions ("The player takes control of a small group consisting of 3 heroes / heroines which the player can switch between at will") similar to Zill O'll?

I really like it but it may depend on how much you like the series to begin with.

Game is pretty enjoyable. Esp if you are a Dragon Quest fan.

I have never had an interested in Dragon's Quest before. But it's one of my partner's favourite games ever, apparently. He recognises the characters. I know I will end up buying it for him, so I was wondering how you guys were finding it.

Thanks!

It is quite well made overall. The boss fights are amusing too. While they may not be as complex as Hyrule Warriors from what Ive seen about that game. This title still makes fights pretty fun. Plus good number of enemies all over the place. While generally I do not put much stock into the amazon japan reviews, the game is sitting quite high at 4 / 5 stars for the PS4 version with 240? reviews.

My only gripe with the game is the party members standing there doing nothing when there are monsters near them. Seems like they only attack large monsters.

It seems like they went with the usual "Musou" type of AI for allies. Kinda weird considering that they also do have decent AI in the example of the Toukiden series.

Though Im curious if part of the issue has to do with them trying to figure out how to get the AI to deal with all of the targets present and such. Or they just did not bother wanting to mess with that.

As for the most part with the Musou type of games they never really have improved ally AI all that much. Which is why in the main line games its always you having to bail out everyone lol

I think their line of thinking was "small monsters die easily so if party members are going around slaughtering everything then that doesn't leave anything for the player to play around with".

Understandable, but it just looks so wrong when there's stuff attacking me and my party are standing there like derps.

Ive been a long time player of Musou games so it doesnt really bother me all that much. Im just thankful that for the support spells they are fairly decent with using them. Rather than making me manually have to pop them off every single time.

Running around with Clift / Flora / Jessica = Unkillable party lol

Question guys and gals: does the tension mechanic work well?

I never used it in normal DQ games because I'd always get hit and lost it.

Its nothing like the main line games really, since all this is basically is like the usual super meter, when its filled your character can activate it with circle that starts to drain the meter. While active several small abilities are available such as double jump being one. And pressing circle again = Special Move which is the large damage dealing move for the character.

Okay thanks! Looking forward to this one. I imagine it will be my go-to game for when I don't feel like shooters or smaller digital titles.

It really is quite enjoyable if you like this sort of gameplay style. That and are a DQ fan as mentioned earlier.

Just killed about 10 metal slimes. Fantastic exp lol. Though you most def need terry and his hayabusa giri はやぶさ斬り skill, since the slime has an insane evade rate as expected.

I wonder when the Hagure Metal or Metal King will appear?
