E3 Press Conference Grading Thread

Who had your favorite E3 press conference?

Results are only viewable after voting.
Microsoft: 8/10
The did what they were supposed to do. Show some games, reveal others, give players new features. A good showing.

Sony: 7/10
Sony announced a few games everyone wanted... sometime in the future. They at least showed new games which is nice.

Nintendo 5/10
I expected more, I won't lie, but I'm not mad at Starfox. I want that game real bad.

EA, Bethesda and Squeenix Meh/10
Doom is kinda cool but I'm not really interested in anything else I saw here, so I can't judge.

Of the conferences I watched:

Sony - B+

Had the most incredible announcements in years, had a very healthy ecosystem of games and showed how to be a market leader. Still, lacked truly groundbreaking stuff.

Microsoft - B-

Pandered to current owners of Xbox One but did little to convince others to jump on board. Having difficulty demonstrating a competitive advantage, and it shows.

Nintendo - C-

Every so many years, one can predict Nintendo's worst conferences, and this is no different. They are clearly transitioning to NX. It's funny because when they were transitioning to Wii U, I said the same thing. Then at the beginning of that console's life they had nothing to show for it. Will they make the same mistake twice?

Square-Enix - B+

This is mostly riding on the FF7 remake announcement. They are giving fans what they want and also creating some original titles. The ship is turning toward the sun but it hasn't quite finished its arc.

I only saw Sony and Microsoft's E3 conferences, but I personally would rate them as follows.

Sony: 8.5/10 - They delivered on a lot of promises, but at this point what they delivered is just that. No release date or window for FF7, No release date or window for Shenmue 3 (which isn't something I'm personally interested in at all), a broad release window for The Last Guardian. Three huge announcements but two of them are likely multiple years away. The conference dragged a lot in the middle and felt like it should have been about a half hour shorter. Also no GT7 tease or reveal which is a bummer personally.

Microsoft: 8/10 - Great content, mixed delivery. Halo 6, Gears Ultimate, Forza 6, Tomb Raider, 360 Backwards Compatibility and more. They had a lot of awesome announcements but they didn't have much buildup. I would've liked to see Scalebound and Quantum Break again and shortened some of the longer trailers a bit. I was happy to not see COD campaign gameplay on stage finally.

Bethesda B Spent way less time on ESO than I feared, Fallout Shelter, and Fallout 4 looks amazing.

Microsoft B- The long Gears demo did not show well, but they have a really good fall lineup

EA: C+ Had they taken out the 4 hour long PvZ segemnt and the still-going Pele segemnt, this might have been an A. Mirror's Edge and Star Wars look amazing, The Hearthstone Arena mode in Madden is a really smart idea, and that FMV in NFS looks SPECIAL.

Ubisoft: C- Not even a moment where the only 2 people on the stage were black women talking to eachother could save this. A music number by an unnamed man, fake dialog between teammates- just the worst stuff you can do in a conference

Sony B+ They dropped megatons, but didn't do a good job hiding the fact that they have literally nothing for this year coming.

Nintendo D I finally understand how people feel when their favorite franchise gets a sequel, but it's only for Mobile. HD Animal Crossing!.... but it's a Mario Party Clone. New Metroid!.... but it's a co-op 3DS game. New Zelda!... but Purple Link died for our sins and it's now only 3 swords. New Mario Sports Game!.... but not Strikers, Baseball, or anything that you would actually want. This probably would have been saved a bit if they hadn't done the big Mario Maker reveal at the World Championships earlier in the week.

Square-Enix: B All of the Eidos games look incredible- Just Cause 3 is probably the Game of the Show, Hitman with daily challenges is a really smart idea, and Laura Croft Go will probably be really good. The Japan stuff was weaker, but the fact that it looks like they are actually trying to make games for consoles still was a strong morale booster.

PC Gamer F 3 hours long, very few announcements. No thank you.
When will this stop...Sony has nothing this year? A quick Google search shows who wrong that statement is. They already released bloodborne, the show and the order and they have a busy lineup coming this yeat.

Bethesda 7/10, solid first showing. Overly long presentation of Doom, but highly detailed and diverse presentation for Fallout 4, plus a release date! The offerings sandwiched between the two big games were not so interesting outside of Dishonored 2, but even Dishonored 2 came as a CG trailer rather than gameplay.

Microsoft 6/10, solid but unexciting. Opened with Halo, closed with Gears. Halo 5 presented okay, but Gears was hard to decipher on screen and didn't present well. A really expensive car on stage! About as exciting as watching your toaster make toast. I confess I fell asleep during the Tomb Raider presentation and don't remember what ION was at all (I'm looking at the notes I made while the conference happened). Sea of Pirates was colorful. Hololens Minecraft was vaguely interesting but it's mostly a demo of tech rather than a game. I don't really feel the use of AR with games. Tried and true formula, but the conference lacked something that really pressed the button.

EA 3.5/10, I timed this, there was a total of 28 minutes spent on sports. I thought for a moment Pele was going to become James Cameron at Ubisoft, but thankfully he was shorter. Mirror's Edge Catalyst and Need for Speed presentations were good but short. PvZ GW2 and SW: Battlefront of course got more time but were not particularly exceptional or distinct, just feel solid but can't muster enthusiasm. The presenter for Unravel was super nervous but quite heartfelt. I didn't watch the PC conference, so this is the lowest of the ones I watched.

Sony 8/10, a conference crafted for the modern age. If there was a conference that inspired belief that the impossible can become possible, this would be it. Interesting juxtaposition of The Last Guardian and Horizon Zero Dawn. The third party games were the solid offerings even though many of Sony's showings had gameplay. The one-two punch of FF7 remake and Shenmue. An odd, interesting idea of actually presenting a Kickstarter on stage. People laugh at hiccups in game demos but I don't mind them, since the hiccups show the relative authenticity of the demo.

Also, that Disney Infinity presenter, he was so enthusiastic that you couldn't tell if he was real or fake, and you also didn't really want to slag on his game since he was so excited. Geez.

Nintendo 6/10, somehow disappointing. There were games, but there were no third party games, the WiiU offering was sparse, and it felt like every corner of the presentation stank of Amiibo. I also felt like there was a lot of Super Mario Maker chat and demonstration. I didn't realize the Metroid game was a Metroid game and SMTxFE is literal poison. Puppets were a bit too much. The general summary: "I guess it was okay."

Square Enix 5/10, the only dudes still using a podium. I thought it was going to suck, but the conference turned out fine. While the wholly new titles announced are interesting, like Nier 2 and Project Setsuna, I think they were shown way too early. Just Cause 3 had a lot of gameplay, but almost all of the gameplay was 'blowing shit up'. Deus Ex looked good but wasn't particularly detailed; ditto for Star Ocean 5. Basically, the opposite of Bethesda, which was to have few games but detailed presentations. However, this conference did leave me feeling more confident about Square. Now the question is whether or not it was all surface and no substance.

I think everyone did competently. But the only one that absolutely merited livestreaming was Sony, if largely because a month ago it would have been literally unbelieveable.

Bethesda - D

These guys don't do much for me. I've grown weary of their dated antics. They're stuff was great back in 2006, but now, they need to advance or like skyrim some of these, namely Fallout 4, are just games I cannot play. The base building is cool but not enough to hook me.

Microsoft - B

They came out swinging with backwards compatibility and moddable controllers. There were some very interesting games as well in "Cuphead" and "Sea of Thieves". Recore looks interesting. It was a solid conference.

Electronic Arts - E/S

I wasn't feeling this. Need for speed looks wonky with the car sliding from side to side. Mirrors Edge was ok. much of the rest, I don't remember, I just remember being bored. And worst this conference began to make me sleepy. Oh yeah, that Pele crap. It gets an S however, for waking me up with that spectacular display of Battlefront.

Ubisoft - NA

Missed this one due to EA's presser putting me in a sleepy state, and the realization that I don't care about Ubisoft games. Sorry.

Sony - SSS

This was the conference that was never supposed to happen. But it did and here we are. A conference that may not be topped for a long time. I really liked what I saw of Horizon and Uncharted. My girlfriend loved the Dreams segment even if I am a little apprehensive of it. The only lull for me was CoD which works in a funny way. It was a huge deal that CoD is now at playstation even If it bored me to tears. I'm not looking forward to that being here every year.

Nintendo - C

I didn't see last years digital event, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out this wasn't the year to watch apparently. Yoshis Wooly World looks amazing, and the new Skyladers seems like it might be fun.

Square Enix - NA

Forgot about this one.

PC - mostly NA

tuned in to this a few times and it was wildly not for me. Lots of hardware talk. It seemed cool but I was ultimately bored. It's good to see Cliffy B again.

When will this stop...Sony has nothing this year? A quick Google search shows who wrong that statement is. They already released bloodborne, the show and the order and they have a busy lineup coming this yeat.

it will never stop. popular party draws constant hate as long as its popular.

The ones I watched:

Bethesda: 7.5/10

Pretty impressive for a first effort and there was never a truely dull moment. Doom looked very repetitive though and was kind of dissapointing. The Fallout annoncements were all great though, especially release date. So even if it was pretty much a Fallout conference, that's still not a bad conference.

Microsoft: 6.5/10

Not a bad conference, but a pretty safe one. Both Halo and Gears looked pretty unimpressive and ending on the Gears demo especially was like ending on a wet fart. They had a lot of games though and BC is a real megaton, so that counts for a lot.

EA: 3/10

EA was terrible last year and almost as bad this year. Every sports game was terrible, Mass Effect was still only teased with like 30 seconds of footage and that Pele interview... Battlefront looked amazing, but this was a conference where they had to constantly remind people that it was coming up later to force thrm to stay tuned.

Ubisoft: 7/10

Started strong and then went a bit downhill. It had a great and snappy vibe though, some interesting games and except Just Dance, was never dull.

Sony: 9.5/10

Because nothing is a clear 10/10. This was the conference of legends though and one that will be remembered for years to come. Can't think of any other conference were we got so many huge megatons. Horizon and Uncharted 4 looked really great as well.

Nintendo: 4/10

I don't mind developer diaries, but the games justed looked terrible with the expection of Super Mario Maker. You got the feeling that Nintendo had already abandoned their old hardware and that's not a good feeling to get.

Square-Enix: 8/10

Was not expecting much from Square, but they actually brought their A-game. New Nier was my personal biggest highlight, but it was a good conference overall, that was only brought down a bit by repeat trailers and no real Deus Ex gameplay.

MS and Sony clearly bought the big guns to show despite earlier leaks going down.

Of course both conferences had moments were it dragged but they've delivered despite previous years where I just wasn't entertained. In Sony's case, it didn't feel groundbreaking.

B

Nintendo

I was honestly expecting worse. And I see where some of the criticisms came from, even if some went overboard with reactions. I've definitely seen worse than this. Even with that said, there wasn't too much that was already covered, and they had titles where it was something you were not expecting. Animal Crossing is one thing (which ironically ruined their E3 3 times beforehand), and honestly, it would've been a City Folk situation, so whether it was a party game or not meant nothing to me.

Metroid... yeah. There's a time and place for everything, but this wasn't the time right now. Developer Diaries were too long. Despite that, there's a line up at least of newly announced titles as well as established titles. The conference was rather boring.

C-

I feel like this year there was a huge quality bump separating 4 conferences from other 4:

Sony, Bethesda, Microsoft, Square Enix
------------------------------------------------------
EA, Ubisoft, PC Gaming, Nintendo

And I don't mean the 4 below were bad, they just had some sort of meh to them. Here's my scoring:

Sony - 10 - we'll hardly get a showing like this again in the near future, they made the best statement they could make by slaying vaporwave and dropping 3 megatons on stage. SFV, No Man's Sky and Uncharted 4 contributed to the show's solid lineup.

Microsoft - 7.5 - solid showing, exceeded my expectations "by a nose"
literally this time
. RotTR looks outstandingly good and the Hololens stuff was cool to look at. Backwards compatibility was quite the nice ace for them and Cuphead stole the show for me.

Nintendo - 2 - I felt sadness while watching their digital event, as it was complete garbage. Nothing really stood out, and the best we got was a release date for Xenoblade X. That 3DS Metroid game looks eye-harmingly horrible. Nintendo was a disappointment for me.

Bethesda - 8 - They didn't show many games, but we saw plenty from those they brought. DOOM looks sick and Fallout 4's soonish release and awesome footage made for quite a notable presentation overall. Too bad they self-leaked Dishonored 2 the day before lol

EA - 5.5 - Unravel and Battlefront were the highlights of a showing filled with filler and sports. They went onto waaaay too much detail on their sports games and the Pelé moment dragged.

Ubisoft - 6 - When you think Ubisoft can't come up with a worse way of presenting their yearly Just Dance game, they drop Jason Derulo and allow him to murder one of his own songs on stage....there was very little wowing stuff here (For Honor), rest was just shooting, shooting and more shooting. Plus cinematic trailers. Aisha Tyler was a plus though, she was less cray than last year but still funny.

Square-Enix - 9 - This company is wearing their redemption suit and it shows. While the event was too formal and it felt smaller in scope than all the others, they still managed to provide a solid showing, mixed with announced games and surprises like a Nier sequel, Project Setsuna or that marvellous KH3 gameplay trailer. Hashimoto-san trolled folks a bit by dragging the roll-in of KH3 footage and it was hilarious. By my standards, this could have been a 10, if they had presented FFXII HD, but they didn't, so that's 1 point down.

PC Gaming - ? - Didn't watch, but the summary I got from some friends was 'MEH'.

This E3 was an extremely solid one overall, definitely 2 or 3 steps up from last year. Gamescom, TGS, PGW and PSX should be good this year, so we're off to some more epic announcements!!

Clearly. Clearly have no idea how you using the e3 platform to ask for money to develop a game that Sony should fund themselves is a good direction for the Industry to go. And I'll play TLG, but that game looks so last gen man. Oh, and ZERO exclusives this holiday while MS showed 4 and BC. Right, I clearly have no idea. Forgive me for not having the hive mind.

They are helping with development and funding the game so stop spreading bullshit.

Jesus, you are the awful reality of a delusional fanboy.

Sony B+ They dropped megatons, but didn't do a good job hiding the fact that they have literally nothing for this year coming.
I'm confused. When you say "literally nothing" are you just talking about 20 million+ marketing budget western focused games? If so, then that's true. If you're talking about games in general for the rest of the year? That's obviously wrong.

Persona 5, Dragon Quest Heroes, Disgaea 5, Tearaway Unfolded, The Tomorrow Children, Until Dawn, Everybody's Gone to Rapture, and other Japanese exclusives are making their way to the west. All of these are coming out within the next 6 months. I'll never understand why people would try so hard to push a false narrative.

Sony: A+. The conference dreams are made up. Matches up with Nintendo's amazing 2004 E3 conference in my eyes.

Microsoft: B-. A generally good conference, no wasting of time, a new IP, etc. Halo is getting old fast although the gameplay looked cool, and Gears is my favorite Microsoft IP so its good to see some of it although Gears 4 looked too much like the previous ones from what little I saw. Docking points because it felt stilted, but much better than the Kinect days. Still, Microsoft has no unique IP that can make me yell like a kid.

Nintendo: F. Nearly as awful as that Nintendoland conference or the Wii Music one. It almost destroyed any love I still hold for Nintendo. It was bad, awful, nothing interesting, Star Fox looked meh, spinoffs looked even more meh, Xenoblade has been seen like 5 times and launched already in Japan. Mario Maker looks fun though and I will definitely get that, but this is Nintendo's lowest in some time.

Overall this was a great E3 (from the conferences I watched) and was really pleased with pretty much everyone, at least in parts.

Microsoft: 3/5
Started off strong with the backwards compatibility announcement but I have taken a point off since it doesn’t seem anywhere near as good as it first sounded. Of course this could change depending on how quickly they update their lists. TR looked good and I enjoyed the last one so I will enjoy playing it (Once it comes to PS4). Holo-lense demonstration was great and really made me want to give it a go to see how well it actually feels toplay Minecraft that way. Gears looked good too, only played the first 2 though so im not too invested in them. Rare’s collection was also really good and easily worth a purchase, wasn’t too sold on their new game though. That’s the main things I remember.

EA: 2/5
EA had some really great parts, NFS genuinely took me by surprise and looked fantastic, ME:C also looked great, SW:BF looked great too, Unravel (IIRC) also had a lot of charm and I will probably pick it up. Of course once all the sports parts came in the even took a serious turn for the worse and killed any momentum they had.

Ubisoft: 4/5
Regardless of what people think, Ubisoft are one of the best publishers around and always have games that im interested. In fact, I think the only thing I didn’t like was the Just Dance section as that was horrible but otherwise I enjoyed it all, especially For Honour which looked really good and I appreciated the live stage demo too.

Sony: 5/5
What more can be said, this E3 will be the stuff of legends because of Sony. TLG, FF7R and Shenmue 3 all announced! People laughed at the idea leading up to you show. Horizon was also the game that I came away from thinking “Damn, I need to see more of that game!”. Looks so good, cant wait to try it out when it comes out next year (Hopefully). COD stuff didn’t interest me but from a business standpoint it was a big win for them and I didn’t have a problem with it. I will say the montage they played after the initial COD section was cut really well and made me wanna play it which says something as I have only ever played BLOPS with my cousing in law at his house. Dreams looked really interesting, and beautiful to look at. U4 looks like its going to be following the tradition of fantastic entries for the series, some amazingly impressive stuff there. Destiny im not sure I will go back to (Just for times sake) but I had a great time with the game and the content looked interesting too. The only thing that I was disappointed in was the lack of VR news (Which was a real surprise) so I can only assume they are saving all the juicy details for the Paris show later on in the year.

Sony A+

TLG, FFVII Remake, uncharted and the whole feel of the conference was great. Saying that the PlayStation vew thing sucked and CoD showing up also sucked. Lack of vita was disappointing.

Bethesda A

Bethesda showed 3 games and 3 games I'll end up buying. For a first time conference they smashed it brilliantly.

Ubisoft B

Instantly my 2nd favourite and that's because of South Park. I didn't expect a sequel and that blew me away! That at assassins creed made it great. But too many tactical games in the conference for my liking.

MS C

Eh even though the backwards compatibility is there which is the best part they didn't show anything I was really interested in apart from tomb raider and Halo really. GOW remaster maybe but since it's out on PC I might get it on there instead.

Square enix C

Loved the kingdom hearts trailer so thank you for that square you're getting a B....oh wait a KH mobile game? Well down to a C you go, stop it please!!

EA D+

Mass effect was great albeit a little light. Mirrors edge looks fantastic but too many sports things, Pele, sports oh and more sports.

MS: C : Really surprised people giving this am A or even B, very safe, typical over reliance on Gears, Halo Forza. The gameplay for halo and gears was underwhelming, and tomb raider looked even worse, 1 new IP was just cgi trailer. Pirate MMO was the best thing they had. BC sounded good at first until it was revealed it is select titles like 360. I was sick of gears, halo, forza in 2009 when I had a 360, I a more so now.

Bethesda - B. Pretty good show, Fallout 4 sounds really good, Doom is doom and that's ok, looks like mindless fun. Didn't feel Battlecry though.

Sony: A - Great show, even if the big 3 announcements didn't win you over, Uncharted 4 and horizon looked amazing , Horizon is how you reveal a new IP. Dreams looks creative and unique even if it wont be for everyone. Something for everyone at this conference. I love the concept of last guardian and its a hard game to show due to it needing to be experenced, but I thought it looked a bit rough, hope sony can iron it out.

EA: D- Thought it was bad, Pele was cringeworthy, too much mobile, Battlefront was the one bright spot. Mirrors edge still not sure what to think about it

Never saw the others...

Oculus: didnt see it
Bethesda: good display..still don't think most of the things were real time
Microsoft: not a bad conference per se..but reminded me why I'm not a xbox user anymore..barely nothing interested me.
EA: boring
Ubisoft: boring
Sony: well,I'm only really interested in shenmue 3,but with all those highly expected titles, they killed it,really.
Nintendo: ultra boring
Square Enix: didn't saw it
PC: didn't saw it.r[/QUOTE]

Of the ones I saw:

Microsoft: 7/10 - It didn't convince me to get an X1 as Halo 5 and Gears 4 were rather unimpressive. Cuphead looked amazing but I'll wait to see if Gamescom catches me.

Nintendo: 3/10 - No Zelda, SMG, Metroid (worth being shown), DKC, etc. I mean, at least show Fatal Frame, no? I sold my WiiU during that ridiculous buy back deal and I can't say I'm unhappy right now...unfortunately.

Sony - 10/10 - If they announced FFVII:R and walked off stage, I would have said 10/10, but that wasn't even my favorite game of their show. Horizon looks incredible. Additionally, Shenmue 3 is happening...TLG had that Ueda charm...etc. etc. etc. In my opinion, it was the best conference ever. They held SO much back for future conferences (GOW4, QD's next project, etc.) yet still showed so much.

EA - 7/10 - It'd be a 2/10 if they didn't show Mass Effect and the amazing Battlefront stuff. Everything else was garbage (side note: look EA, we know you do sports games and we will buy them. No need to show them for 30 minutes)

SE - 9.5/10 - Selfishly, i loved it because it was effectively a Sony 2.0 conference. Nier, the old school project, JC3, etc. all looked great and I'm excited the SE is getting back in line with the old Square days. Could have used XII HD, which is the only reason I knocked off 0.5

Microsoft - A few decent announcements but mostly stuff without a date/already announced/crap. LOL/10

Sony - Probably the best conference I've ever seen. A total 180 from last year. OSHIT/5

Nintendo - Boring and safe, solid games announced with zero fanfare. It's obvious they're saving the bombs for NX. A real letdown after stellar 13/14 showings. fart-

Microsoft: 7/10. Very solid conference with great pacing and decent announcements. I think the exclusion of some of their most hyped games, like Quantum Break and Phantum Dust was a big negative for me.

It's cool that they actually do have a good line-up for this year, unlike Sony, but the demos they showed off weren't not impressive at all imo. I hated the Tomb Raider demo. Everything from the nameless black friend dying off-screen; mountain climbing in a storm with no context as to why, and ridiculous parkour with no real tension behind it made me not really care so much. I can't really explain why it is that I don't think the parkour had much of an impact on me; maybe it was because they started out on top of a precarious position to begin with and the bar was already high and so when the "dangerous" action sequence started, it fell flat. Idk.

The Gears demo was also underwhelming. Idk if that's because that's all they've completed of the game so far, but what they showed could've been from any other game and I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. There's also the issue of the demo being played at nighttime, so we couldn't really get a good look at what it really looks like.

EA: 3/10. Completely soulless. I liked Garden Warfare and Battlefront -- and that's about it.

Ubisoft: 5/10. A surprisingly weak showing from Ubisoft compared to what they usually bring -- although it was still a decent presentation. I like the idea for "For Honor" a lot. And I love the way that they described it as "a new genre". That really got my attention. But then they did some weird, cringe shit. Which is usually alright, except this year I don't think they had the games to back it up with. And they really need to stop the awful, awful scripted online chat dialogue. It's both unnecessary and makes their game look lame.

Sony. 9/10. Honestly, one of the best conferences I think I've ever seen. If I was actually grading their lineup, they'd be worse than Microsoft. But the actual presentation never felt dull and ending on Call of Duty and Uncharted was perfect. Although, I would have liked maybe another 2 minutes on explaining what Morpheus is and why we should care.

Which you fail to even mention...

Until dawn
Tearaway Unfolded
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
Dragon Quest Heroes
God of War 3 Remaster
The tomorrow children
Everyone Gone to the rapture
Persona 5

That's off the top of my head.

Sony has no gaemz remember.

Sign of desperation from fanboys in panic mode because they're favorite piece of plastic is getting beaten to shit by another, radically more successfull piece of plastic.

Bethesda was my favorite. They just seemed so friendly & earnest. Fallout 4 is my game of the show.

MS & Sony are tied, imo. Both did FANTASTIC.

Nintendo. I honestly feel bad for them. They seemed really earnest too. They just didn't deliver.

I'm only going to rate the ones I've seen, obviously:

Bethesda: F. Doom looks like ass and every bit of news regarding Fallout 4 is something that moves the series further and further away from what I want. I hate it. No, loath it. I wish they'd give the IP to Obsidian or inXile, where it belongs. Shelter looks like something that's novel for 10 minutes but I can't play it because it's a timed Apple exclusive.
Sony: C. No Man's Sky is the only thing I really cared about. Glad they reconfirmed that it's coming to pc because that means I still don't really have a reason to get a ps4.
Nintendo: D. Ehhh.. where do I start? Wooly world is the only upcoming Nintendo thing I care about. Everything else they decided to show this year was lackluster at best. I like the format they're using though, hope it returns again next year but with better games.
Microsoft: E. It's Microsoft. I never cared much about them and I'm not sure why I watched any of it.
Square Enix: C. Deus Ex looks alright I guess? It's still not the Deus Ex I want and I wish they'd give up on Jensen, but it's still better than what I expected.

Yeah, I was really happy with Bethesda's conference. Wish we got a little more gameplay but DOOM and Fallout 4 look really good plus we got a confirmation for Dishonored 2 and some interesting details. Great first conference and Todd Howard is one of my gaming heroes.

Besides Battlefront the EA conference was like wtf after so many good ones this year. They blew their load last year on pre-pre-pre Alpha stuff so they didn't have anything to show this year besides the annuals.

Sony : 11/10 (Greatest of all time)
Microsoft: 8/10 (BC will up some sales)
Ubisoft: 7/10 (Haaaave you seen For Honor?)
Square: 7/10 (impressive quantity of games)
Bethesda: 7/10 (small lineup but heavy hitters)
Nintendo and EA: 4/10 (disappointing due to IP management)

one of the best E3s overall (Sony's especially was bonkers!)

Those poll results...wow. Lol
Anyway, the real winners this year were the believers, the people who never gave up on their dreams, the dreamers of the day.
God bless them.

Bethesda B - I love fallout but nothing else did much for me. Still though it's Fallout.

MS A- - Halo, Gears, BC, Hololens, Fable, Rare comeback, Fallout mods and some great looking Indies plus a preview program. Think they could have added one more surprise to make it an A or included 1 of the games coming to gamescon.

Sony B - Seems like they have nothing so went for gimmicks. Hate Uncharted so really left with Shenmue and I'll keep an eye on Horizon though I was expecting more of an RPG feel. If it wasn't for Shenmue would be an F.

LOL what? Can you elaborate?

Oh, do grow up. Andrew House openly copped to holes in their first party lineup. You don't do that if you don't have a problem.

?? Who said anything about first party? Are you forgetting sony already has launched 3 first party titles ms Zero this year? He never said first party, sony has a lot of exclusives this year, that's a fact. Since when does a game need to be first party to be exclusive?

Sony: B
+ Horizon was the most exciting game shown at E3.

+ Street Fighter V

+ Morpheus

- TLG is cute but a bad game concept. I don't see the fun in calling for the monster and waiting for it to get to where you want it every other minute, then watching a cutscene where the actual progressing occurs. The crumbling platforms being the primary obstacle in that demo was pretty bad.

- Shenmue 3 needed to actually be a real thing for it to be worth the hype. It's a kickstarter. This is coming from someone who eagerly anticipated Shenmue on DC and loves both games. It's great that the ball is rolling, but come on.

- The rudimentary space battle in No Man's Sky.

- Call of Duty

Microsoft: C
+ Backward compatibility is a phenomenal feature.

+ The indies looked incredible, especially Below and Cuphead.

- Not too much jumped out at me and got me excited. Gears and Halo look as they should, impressive but not really my thing.

I think he meant in comparison to previous years, as they still have a number of titles for this year.

Its just absolutely astounding how Bloodborne, The Order: 1886 and MLB don't come into the conversation because of they haven't released in the holiday season - of which this sense of thinking was created because Microsoft have been horrifically bad at thinking the year consists of 3 months, and the rest is a barren wasteland of nothing.

What are these same people spouting written diarrahea in every Sony thread going to say when 2016 rolls around with an insane lineup including Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank, Street Fighter V, The Last Guardian, No Man's Sky, and that's just the start.

Bethesda: B
Great format, knew how to present their stuff. If you are fans of those games great. Doom kinda fell flat for me. Gameplay demos are fine but I was hoping for a bit of story or something to pull me in. Fallout looks better than I thought initially but still kinda not as much an upgrade from 3 that I was hoping mechanics wise. Loved their runthrough of it and quicker than anticipated release date.

Microsoft: B
They just don't get it, Halo does not get the blood boiling anymore, that vertical slice of the game was fairly uninteresting and lasted what felt like too long. The Halo hardcore loved it I'm sure but there's gotta be more than that. Their format was great though, just bullet point to bullet point. A lot of the reveals fell flat due to leaks though. Not bad but nothing convincing about it, once again great format and convergence pace.

Ubisoft: C+
Good host, pace, and no silly games. But it was super standard fare of Ubisoft games these days. I know they are not in the business of publishing every random left over ip these days ala Grandia 2 PS2 and Enchanted Arms ect. but they have become the generic tactical shooter and "open world" guys. Also not a South Park fan but grats to the fans of those titles announced. Also can't wait for the Division downgrade thread lol. Oh yeah the live performance... no matter how many times people say to stop doing these someone always fucking does it.

EA: C
Best at speaking about their games live I guess is what you can say lol. NFS looked great in game but geeze that "urban white people street racing" shit has to go, it always needed to and was super annoyed it was back and constantly on the radio during the game. Honestly cant even remember what else they showed.... they were the guys with the red yarn game too right? Either way if I remember right it was diverse at least which is good but nothing hooked.

Sony: A+++
Would give them a S tier but I had two problems. Theirs was a conference about "dreams" all dream games and projects being announced, half of which are missing 2016 release easily. That's amazing they announced all these upcoming and just started projects. The issue was it also highlighted they are the console with nothing coming out this year really. There is tons to play sure, but nothing shown is coming out soon that was shown. Also relegating some cool trailers or news to their montage was lame as much as I love those damn montages. They showed a great line up for the future as usual but nothing to get excited about this fall and winter. Great show though but once the hype wears down you realize, dang none of this is dropping any time soon.

Nintendo: (gosh) D-
If I were a fan of Nintendo's first party stuff, F. Just bought a wii u (and not for wii u games if that says anything) and they really just left the fans who bought this thing with confidence out to dry. Feel so bad for them. The puppets were great, we knew they would kill that portion of the video. The interviews were great too, I personally love that stuff. The games though, wow. Starfox looked kinda rough for a 1st party game and seems like they are trying to get it out asap. Cutscenes might be great since plat is handling them. Seems like they went "lets go with what the fans want, classic starfox." but took it too literal and do not seem to be giving anything else. Animal Crossing party game, yeah party game versions of stuff people love never goes over well. Mario spin off sports game fell flat as well. Same with Zelda and Metroid, all spin off mini game titles wtf. The other things are all stuff we saw months ago, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, one of which does not even seem like its coming out outside Japan at this point and Fatal Frame which did not get mentioned on their video, I know why but its not like they had much else to show. Excited for Fatal Frame and Xenoblade but yeah what else.

Square Enix: C
Would give a B+ for games shown and announced but that format was a mess. They showed up as "we are the stiff business robot Japanese company square enix... these are our games... these are our employees... clap now... stop clapping... leave." It's an E3 presser, not a fucking serious board meeting with investors. Literally everyone else had energy because they were excited about their projects. SE felt like they told everyone to not be excited about the work they are doing and just read from the prompter. Which btw, we should not have been able to see, much less had it at that angle where people kept having to look over at lol. I figured what could they possibly show after the sony thing and man, Sony fucking saved that FF7 announcement because Square was so damn stiff it was painful. -sigh- That aside tons of great announcements, KH gameplay was great too. The Just Cause 3 trailer was terrible, they had a guy explain the game, then a trailer to explain the game... Way to much set up for minute long trailers and completely took the fun and excitement out of seeing something new. Instead of letting our minds run wild with speculation and excitement to see more, they just told us everything and made sure there were 0 questions in the worst way possible. Though I was glad to see the signs of "Japan side is going to focus on the types of game people love from us in the past, NA/EU side is going to focus on that side of games you love from them with little to not meddling anymore." Thats all we wanted.

PC showcase... did not finish it. I tuned out 20 minutes in. That was boring lol and seemed like very few news stories came out of it.

Overall amazing games shown and announced this year, mostly from Sony, but E3 was a 2016 and "platinum please save our game" show.
copied from my blog cause lazy lol

There, as you can see, neither side has significantly more games than the other. Sony actually edges MS out in terms of releases.

Now lets stop this tired rhetoric

They are helping with development and funding the game so stop spreading bullshit.

Jesus, you are the awful reality of a delusional fanboy.

Fanboy....not true. My personal Game of the Show was Horizon and my favorite game this year has been Bloodborne. I love PS. :)

Bethesda: A, Fallout 4 was amazing and their conference addressed the few fears I had about it.

Microsoft B- Hit all the right notes especially the BC angle which is appeal to a lot of people. Didn't really have any games I feel would make me prefer it over the PS4 though.

Sony A+, Finally delivered on TLG, got to show off Shenmue and FFVII remake. Horizon and Uncharted looked amazing.

EA C Eh. It was as expected

Ubisoft C+ Expected. New Tom Clancy game was a highlight.

Square A-, It was a bit stiff and very formal, but I feel like they've gotten back into their JRPG groove again which is a massive plus for me and they got me to want Just Cause 3 and Tomb Raider. KHIII and Star Ocean footage was absolutely amazing.

Nintendo D Honestly the only thing I got excited about was Super Mario Maker. Everything else just felt very lackluster.

PC B, Surprisingly solid conference, really enjoyed the way the format was presented and I'm not even much of a PC gamer.
