It's a great game, actually, and this genre is definitely underappreciated. I now have some interest in other games like this, such as Afrika for PS3.
yes it does but its well hidden. I found a group of them though.splattergnome said:Remember, the next game of this type is coming out this spring from Majesco - Wild Earth: African Safari, the Wii port of this game: http://www.wildearthgame.com/us/ - which actually recieved rather good reviews, so this is one port I am looking forward to, although I am sad the promised "cooperative multiplayer" will not be online like in Endless Ocean. Together with Afrika and the new PS3 diving game we might be getting a photo-shooting game renaissance.
I have still to pick up Endless Ocean, so I have one question to those who own it::lolDoes it mayhaps contain a nautilus? I assume it has octopi and squid, but a nautilus would round out the tentacle department.

That's kind of the approach i had to it and i've had a blast, unfortunately i've already beaten it (well i've seen the credits and i've been everywhere in the map), been a while since i've played a game that religiously now that i think about it.ksamedi said:I recently bought this game after hearing some good things about this game and I didn't even expect to like it. But luckily this turned out to be a great purchase for me. Its one of my favorite Wii games now. Never knew that exploring the sea could be so fun.
you get more equipment by finding lost relics/items. Not really by honoring dive requests.Soule said:That's kind of the approach i had to it and i've had a blast, unfortunately i've already beaten it (well i've seen the credits and i've been everywhere in the map), been a while since i've played a game that religiously now that i think about it.
Thewas pretty disappointing though considering as soon as i got the game i saw a pic of it and had been trying to hunt it down.ghost ship/ocean's graveyard
I don't know if i'll have the patience to 100% but i can see myself coming back to it a lot over the course of wii's lifespanwish there was more gear to change between though, I've got tons of suits and gloves but 2 tanks and only 1 pair of flippers
i need more diving requests dammit lol
the swimming in this game is extremely easy. Just point the wiimote at the sensor bar/screen and hold down B. press the "-" button to set automatic swimming without having to hold down the button. I dont particularly enjoy the controls in most games involving swimming either but I spent over 30 hours underwater in this game. Take that as you will.nakedsushi said:Will I enjoy this game if I HATE all water levels on games? Super Mario Galaxy's swimming? Bleh!
Do you like diving/snorkeling/nature? If yes, then you'll enjoy it. If not, you may still enjoy it, although noone can say for sure. Try to test-play it at a friends' house or at the shop.nakedsushi said:Will I enjoy this game if I HATE all water levels on games? Super Mario Galaxy's swimming? Bleh!
I don't like sandbox games either. I'm not into GTA and Crackdown was fairly meh (I got bored). Also, I really like just looking around in Metroid Prime for what it's worth.nakedsushi said:But about sandbox games, I usually get bored of them because there's no goal or progress. Is this going to be a problem with Endless Ocean?
nakedsushi said:I do like exploring and nature, but I didn't like Metroid Prime because of the action elements, if that makes sense. If I want action, I'll play an FPS.
I am in need of something relaxing and that doesn't take too much brain power to play after a tough day at work, so maybe this is the answer.
But about sandbox games, I usually get bored of them because there's no goal or progress. Is this going to be a problem with Endless Ocean?
blu said:well, EO is not you average sandbox game - it's a sandbox-style game with _tons_ of atmosphere. i doubt you've ever come across such a sandbox game before. and i personally find lots of adventure in it, but that depends on your personal understanding of the subject. if adventure for you == near-death experiences, then EO will not feel adventurous to you. if you think that the old point-n-click desktop 'quests' are adventures, though, then yes, EO is full of adventure. exploring places, finding stuff, doing little tasks - all that in alwesome atmosphere and the occasional breath-taking moments.
on a sidenote: has anybody else experienced a guiding dive where the kind of fish the client insists to see actually can't be found at that place?
i had a very weird guided dive wherethat will guy wanted to see a poweder-blue something (the name escapes me, sorry) at the bluff rocks, but that place happened to be the only one where tha powder-blue fish was nowhere to be seen. i went to all the other atol-style locations known to me immediately after that dive, and that fish was abund in schools there!

its horrible... and not because of its content, its because the game doesn't work. The controls don't work... you can't even move around with the analog stick. And no its not because of motion controls or anything because there are non its because its the worst game I've played in my entire life. Its broken.Great Rumbler said:Let us know how it turns out.

The multiplayer is regionlocked. <insert 20 page rant over the stupidity of this issue>Generation ABXY said:And, since I'm on the topic, can you dive with people outside your country - if I have the friend code of someone in, say, England, can we still do it, or do we have to be in the same region (I'm in the U.S.)?
i dont think you understand... the controls don't work... its not a wii thing, its that the game can't be controlled.bjork said:That Sea Monsters one comes out on PS2 next week, maybe controls will be better for it there? Shame though, as I wanted to buy it along with EO when I finally find a wii.
CTLance said:The multiplayer is regionlocked. <insert 20 page rant over the stupidity of this issue>
So, you see... I'm from Europe. You're from Mars. We can't possibly dive together. :'(
What I CAN tell you, however, is that IIRC only the host gets benefits like new fish entries etc... the visitor just gets a fun dive out of it.

about the Sea monsters game. What a waste.

"If I recall correctly"Generation ABXY said:Well, I finally got to try it out today. Went on two dives, one which was hosted and one which I hosted myself. I noticed the benefits thing you mentioned right away - also, I could only choose from the host's music and see his info (whereas I had all three pages on the Coelacanth, he had one...and I could only see that).
Also, I've not been persuaded before that the Wii needs voice chat...but this game convinced me. It was absolute piss trying to communicate about where to go next using those preset commands and underwater pen.
P.S. What does IIRC mean?

Generation ABXY said:I've had similar experiences, blu. I believe it has happened twice now, but I think it may be a matter of placing your boat so it covers a variety of areas. Of course, you never know what they will want to see, so you could end up screwing yourself that way...

Same here. I tried to find a goddamned powder blue tang and all that was there was regular blue tangs. but blue != powder blue so OMG FAILURE.
Generation ABXY said:Well, I don't think it is an instant failure. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure I've gotten all five stars on a dive without finding the specific fish mentioned. I just swim around to all the key spots and important animals and, even if they are still asking about a specific fish, I still take them up whenever Kat says they are "thrilled". Still, it is annoying.

This doesn't help me get into right position for good photos in time.Vexidus said:I just think you need to shake it for a couple sustained seconds, sorta like petting fish to get them identified, I'm not positive though..
