Slick, but a complete waste of money for people who like home console gaming and couldn't give two shits about handheld gaming.
Isn't 32 GB cartridges a bit small considering that so many games are having a hard time with 50 GB discs?
Yes. NV Vulkan support goes back to Kepler, and TX1 is a Maxwell. Will the Tegra X1 be compatible with the Vulkan-API?
Are Nintendo's games having trouble with it? I don't really think they give a fuck about anyone else's games.
But it's not the majority, which means that most people enjoy Splatoon's gyro controls.I think I read something about 70% of splatoon players using gyro. Even counting people who don't know they can turn it off I would classify 30% of players turning it off as "a lot".
How will that work if it needs to be in the base station?

60$ handheld games will be a tough sell.
The Ugly: Say goodbye to competent ports of big games like COD:AW (48GB), with cartridges that only have 32GB capacity, not to mention the hit in visuals.
32GB is the recommended cart size. 64 and 128GB carts will also likely be availiable. However using reduced textures should help make games smaller

I'll give you gyro controls, but I don't see how you couldn't do Quick Spawning and Inkstrikes with an on-screen overlay.

Not necessarily, especially for stuff like Quick Spawning & Inkstrikes. There's also gyro controls to consider, but that can easily be incorporated to a regular controller.
They already £3560$ handheld games will be a tough sell.
I think we were going to hit $60 handheld games with the graphical bump, anyway.
Just now it's less of a sting since they're $60 console games, too.
I mean, you could, but it wouldn't be as seamless as it is now, especially when you factor in Spawn Beacons.I'll give you gyro controls, but I don't see how you couldn't do Quick Spawning and Inkstrikes with an on-screen overlay.
Its not a hybrid.
Only the Kardashians know the specs.
There is no hybrid.
Actually we know. Handheld and console. No hybrid. ^^
It´s not a hybrid.
Newsflash: It´s not a hybrid.
Nope.
a) because its a dumb thing to do. You get a shitty handheld and a shitty console.
b) Nintendo told us: "It´s not a hybrid", "Its multiple devices, maybe even more than 2, sharing software like iOS and android."
So no, it wont be a hybrid.
How will that work if it needs to be in the base station?

I dont' think there's reason at this point to believe 32GB would be some kind of hard cap. 64 won't cost much more, especially by next year.
There are plenty of reasons the types of games you're talking about probably won't come, having nothing to do with storage space.
If there is a hit in visuals, the sizes will be smaller. I'm sure they won't be stuck with one small cart size. So basically:
I hope they make a revision that removes the handheld functionality and is cheaper. I have no need for a screen and it would be permanently docked. I would never use the system as a handheld device.
not really an elegant solution for something that didn't need one
in a game like this every second counts and a single input is quicker than multiple inputs
WiiU streaming tech will hopefully be there for dual screen games.

So will the NX come with long-ass cables for power & HDMI?
So will the NX come with long-ass cables for power & HDMI?The screen in the dock can be still used like the Gamepad for Pikmin 3. You could still respawn or hit a inkstrike quickly using it in Splatoon.
Detachable controllers can still have gyro in them.
Sucks for people that only want a handheld. But it's going to happen.

sheikah slate
Can your phone be used exclusively as a home console?
Then no.
This thing will behave as a true home console when docked. It'll boot up via the controllers and will turn off via the controllers. It'll boot straight to its OS dedicated to gaming and navigate via the controllers.
Your phone doesn't do this.
