All true, but more powerful hardware sure will cover a multitude of sins @ 1080p.
Game runs like shit in certain areas on PC too. Powerful hardware really isn't the issue in this scenario.

Because the next will be surely better compared the PC how not.I can't wait to get off of this gen of consoles :
Post a clip of you going through the corvega factory, this anecdotal nonsense with no evidence needs to stop when we all have the capability of showing proof.
Excellent OP
And yeah, this game is fucking gross from a technical perspective and, as stated, the hardware itself is receiving a disservice by continually having to run this woefully outdated engine.
I know it doesn't mean shit at this point as Bethesda is laughing all the way to the bank, but I'm at least not gonna pickup Fallout4.

Neither of those clips are in the areas digital foundry is showing in their video and they are completely clear of all ai including all but 1 body.I can see a bit of stutter when switching to an energy weapon

Other than that, seems alright to me.

And you can still see it dropping frames when you turn.
Show something more than 30 second passes of 1 area you know is safe to show.
Xbox can record for longer than 30 seconds and I didn't ask you to show 1 section of the area that runs ok. Your attempt is disingenious of the request to hide the known issues DF has shown in this game.30 secs is all I can record.
And it's the area you asked for....
I went in and recorded it, then quit the game.

Snap the dvr app, and you should have a save from when you first exited the vault, load it and set the difficulty to easy or whatever and sprint over to the factory and record it with enemies actually in it.How do I record for longer on the Xbox One?
And where would you like me to record?
I'm not trying to be disingenuous, I just went in a and recorded like you asked.
Mobile CPU's can't handle this kind of open world stress. Even with GPGPU's. I hope the NX uses an entry level desktop level CPU.
I am so sure Bethesda was taking advantage of GPGPU, lol.
I'd love a 3-way
Pretty sure he is referring to open-world specifica: like shadow render distance and draw calls. Stuff that really is not at all done on the GPU.
Aye, even with brute forcing and throwing as much hardware resources at the game as I can through overclocking to the limit, I only net around 5 FPS (quick save and load same location and don't move) looking out over an area full of building geometry.
I thought it was my old CPU at first, but seems people with 5th gen i7s and DDR4 are still having the same problem.
The issue seems to lie within the engine itself.
Half the game is missing in the console version

And stuff like that can be taken advantage of on the GPGPU, however this is Bethesda. Minimal effort to get it running compared to other developers.
This engine has been doing the same object calculations since Oblivion, hell, even Morrowind. Power is not the issue. Optimization is.
It is not a graphical powerhouse at all, lol. Regardless of "scale", that they did with FO3. All it is, is a slight fresh coat of paint, they know their modding community will do the rest they failed to do.
I think DF said there's no single PC setting that exactly matches the consoles. Console settings seem to be all over the place.I'd love a 3-way comparison with PC at medium, at ultra and ini-tweaked (uGridsToLoad, object and shadow distances).
The level of detail is so embarrassingly poor in terms of quality, you wonder how these weak looking buildings and trees in the distance could not be replicated on consoles.Half the game is missing in the console version

Batman AK had no issues giving us much more detailed lod with no loading times. Both shadows and LoD are tied to CPU performance.
These systems could be $1000 and there would still be games that look as assy as Fallout 4 with awful performance.I have an unopened PS4 version of Fallout 4. Should I trade it in for the Xbox One version?... or are both equally bad?..
Also, honestly, I am willing to pay $600 for a next gen console just please make it powerful.
No matter how many times it's been shot down, by literally every game that had awful performance and were subsequently updated to perform better, (without changing the CPU in the PS4), it will be said. I'm not confident in this dev doing anything to fix this in a hurry, but if they happen to fix the alpha bug on PS4, if they extend lod and improve shadows on PS4 and overall makes this somewhat salvageable at a half-measure 30fps, I'm sure the next janky open world game will still net you the same first-post.....It's the CPU.not this shit again.... Yes it's all the hardware and has nothing to do with the shit engine and the extreme lack of effort put into porting it.
Always glad to see an honest PC gamer weigh in. There is absolutely nothing in terms of detail, character models or even draw distance that should task the CPU here, this game looks average and it performs below average. People are actually seeing areas where there is literally nothing going on, an empty hallway where the game falls into the teens and they blame the console hardware. Surely, the disingenuous levels are through the roof.I have it on PC with a high end rig and feel the same way that you do. Granted it's closer to 60 but the fps fluctuations in Corvega is ridiculous and frankly the game is ugly.

Thoughts;
Fallout 4 faceoff PS4 vs XB1: Looking at this game though, it seems that PC and XB1 were the main targets on account of DX11, still in Bethesda fashion, even a platform is the lead, the game will still be janky as it shows on PC an XB1.
Every setting on the XB1 is like for like on the PS4, including resolution, when was the last time we saw that...Oh yes, on another janky game of course (Unity). These guys used the lowest common denominator (XB1) as a preset map and just did a quick conversion over to the PS4 with everything remaining the same (how else would alpha effects trouble a better GPU over a lower one?). There is absolutely no GPU improvements on the PS4 side, nothing in the realm of a more note-able frame rate advantage or higher detail anywhere in the world, as was seen in a similar 1080p conversion in GTA5. These type of parity releases on account of the lower specced console, is really the bane of this generation.
OP, I like the style, I like the pic comparisons, I still went to the site to read everything, but normally I don't look at the screen comparisons where DF usually makes some distinctions, it was quite convenient for me, that it was all in the OP.
One question though, that part where DF said they could resolve more detail in one specific map or vista on the XB1 over the PS4...did they provide a screen showing that? Btw, good personal thoughts and breakdown.
The thing that really stuns me is that prerelease I wasn't too hard on the graphics of this game because I figured Bethesda went for less ambitious visuals so that they could get performance in order. It's really sad that they couldn't even pull that off.

Yes. And I personally think Destiny looks better than this game.Wasn't Destiny also identical on both consoles?

The most disappointing thing to me is the frame rate. Really disappointed by the performance. Visuals are just serviceable and not something that I'd consider to jump to PC. Frame rate, however, is a completely different story and I am seriously considering just selling it to play on PC and atleast have stable frame rate with the visual improvements.
Bethesda should have dropped something else in favor of shadow rendering distances. Overall the game looks good, but man some of the views you get are unbelievably shitty.

I wouldn't call the difference between exclusives and multiplats massive. Id say it's much smaller than last gen actually since most of the best looking games are multiplats. As much as we might hate it, its best to design the game for the xbox one and work your way up. But that means not taking advantage of hardware. Its the reason why there is such a massive jump in visual quality between ps4 exclusives and multiplats.
