Ferrari unveils the Luce, its first electric vehicle designed by Jony Ive

Always amazing when amateurs at home can make better looking things than people on payroll. Kind of like games. Some random modder dude at home makes better texture packs, fixes bugs or adds weather effects better than a 300 people studio.

What makes Luce also look horrific are the wheels. Not the spoke ones which look ok. But that solid ones with the dots. Looks so cheap like it's a bargain hubcap.

Here's a pic of a black one with the better spoke wheels. Doesnt look like a Ferrari, but at least looks better. But still too thick and bubbly like it's got a Tesla or Mazda 3 hump to it. Got to get rid of the yellow brakes though. Looks tacky.

That's one of the problems EVs have to deal with. If you keep classic looking rims you're ruining part of the aero the energy consumption will be visibly higher. Based on the provided stats Luce is not the most aerodynamic thing out there and the range also isn't that great. I still think they should ditch the EV rims in the Luce, like for instance electric Rolls Royce is not fighting to be super efficient either and prioritizes the looks.

Eeehh...... I like the signature Ferrari tail lights. I like the rims. I don't know much about this EV. It has a quad motor engine? The overall design is alright. But doesn't really do anything for me. That front end does not scream 'Ferrari" at all. I'm trying to find the positives and negatives here to balance them out and not just say 'what a piece of shit'.

ChatGPT > Jony Ive

Hmm... well this is on the right track. But the problem is that ChatGPT is honestly constrained by red tape that it can't really use any signature elements from real Ferrari's. Even the Ferrari Stallion logo does not actually look like the real logo due to trademark reasons. The red is not proper Ferrari red. I don;t think Ferrari would use those tail lights or front lights with the slits. Not using the signature 'star' Ferrari wheels. I like the pop up headlights. Some of the lines and features need to be paired back. But not bad ChatGPT. This is a decent little off brand Ferrari.

While yellow calipers is technically a Porsche thing, they been the most popular factory colour option on Ferraris for about a quarter century now.

As for the whole enthusiast vs professional thing, it's not that surprising. Enthusiasts don't have to make a real product or don't have to balance as many competing interests.

If it wasn't for the sky/baby blue colour, I think it looks good and I like chunky cars so I would definitely like to drive one.
600k is way too much for an electric car though.
