Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: journey through the world outside of Midgar will be with a "high degree of freedom" (Tweet 2)

I definitely see the new comrades as a double meaning. I bet we play as Sephiroth in the Kalm Flashback. I could also see at a late point in the story a potential for Zack being playable.

Also - it's nice to see a semi-confirmation of the synergy character attacks from Yuffies DLC coming into rebirth on a larger scale. Good.

Tweet 5 out of 7. I reckon Masahi Hamauzu and Tetsuya Nomura for the final 2 and them boom release date trailer.

So this is real. 7 tweets in 7 days...but what does it culminate to?

Technically doesn't answer the question fully, but sounds like they implemented the tag attacks and what not from Intergrade.

Maybe a reveal at SGF since that is in 2 days. I still believe Sony did this to maintain mindshare. But let's see.

Yeah, that's the FF I am looking forward to and not XVI. Can't wait, VIIR was pretty great (minus technical issues).

I also doubt we will see anything substantial till after FFXVI release.

I posted it a few times before but the Square influencer relations manager liked this tweet.

To me it's becoming obvious what it means. This is leading up directly to the 8th. You don't do a countup or countdown type PR push unless it's leading to a big drop of something. I'd expect a meaty trailer on the 8th and Ever Crisis trailer on their social media accounts to coincide.

This is my hope but the E3 2019 FF7R trailer was 4+ minutes long and XVI's reveal trailer was also 4 minutes long. So hopefully with this being Rebirth's genuine reveal we get a 4 minute long trailer that covers the topics in these vague answers.

Million dollar question; Will saves carry over to Rebirth?

I hope there's things that will carry over if they do save imports, such as weapons, items and materia. Limit Breaks as well.

Then there's the question of where Characters would be level wise and if there's some sort of level scaling for those that carry a save over. It would be weird to start from level 1 again.

Development comment #4 mentions that people who didn't play Remake can jump right into Rebirth. So the question for that is, would we treat carry over saves as a big bonus for returning players? What about newcomers that start with Rebirth? Would they have a longer time grinding to achieve certain items that were obtainable in the previous game?

Obtaining new Limit Breaks were at Corneo Coliseum. Maybe there's an alternative way to achieve them if you didn't play Remake?

There's a number of ways SE can do this if they decide to. Very curious to see how they approach this (if they do at all).

Was just reading the ResetEra topic on this stuff and seeing how many people doubting it's gonna be shown off Thursday. Idk, I feel like people are not reading whats literally in front of them.

Do you really think Square would do a day after day vague ass Q&A session about Rebirth that is directly leading to the 8th if we aren't getting a trailer?

Why would they do something that they know would obviously piss off fans? lol

I will bet you Yuffie is going to steal all your stuff immediately and you'll be reset, Samus style.

And then dropping the ever crisis trailer with probably the beta announcement to coincide. Should be a great week. Then the 11th should be the XVI demo drop since that's the pre-launch event.
Makes sense. Not expecting FF9 Remake at SGF though, I think they'll announce that at the next PS Showcase.

I only played the original when it released for the PS1 so I don't remember, where did cd 1 and cd 2 end in the story?
I have the impression that we got to the open world part on the 1st cd.

End of CD1, fight Jenova, death of a party member, get ready to follow Seph into mountains...
End of CD2.... boy it's been awhile, I think ends after you take out the 1st Weapon & take out Hojo in Midgar?
Disc 3 is all side quests, getting ready for northern crater, & Sephiroth.

Open World was right after Midgar... only maybe a dozen hours into the game.

So let's just roll with the fact that it's likely at Geoff's event tomorrow, particularly because Square is listed as one of the companies listed that's there and now FF7R's twitter header is blank.

What are you all hoping to see in this trailer? I know these little teases might be a glimpse of some things they cover but I'm talking specifics.

What would you hype you the fuck out?

BTW -

Here was the last major info dump on Rebirth.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

  • (Regarding why it is called Rebirth rather than Remake 2…) Both Remake and Rebirth have a similar meaning of ‘being newly reborn.’ Also, if we called it Remake 2, it might give the impression there will be a 3, 4, 5, and so on… as well as that 2 only exists because of 1. This also means that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth can be enjoyed sufficiently on its own.
  • The reason for the delay in announcing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was because we were not sure whether it would be a two-part work or trilogy.
  • Usually when it comes to the Final Fantasy series, only the core members are retained after the completion of a game, while most of the other staff move over to other teams. However, since the Final Fantasy Remake project was decided to be released in multiple parts from the start, the same team was able to start work on the sequel while maintaining their teamwork, know-how, and momentum, so development has been extremely fast. However, due to the large amount of resources required, there’s no time for rest and things are always moving at full speed. The fundamental parts are complete and we’re currently in the mass production stage. Development is going well.
  • We’ve already begun work on areas such as the plot and scenario for the third title.
  • Just as we created Midgar so that fans of the original Final Fantasy VII can appreciate it, we’re taking care to develop Rebirth as not to ruin the image that fans have of the original. For that reason, the volume is quite massive.
  • We hear the concerns of fans asking ‘Can the story really be told in a trilogy?’ and ‘Will it be a trimmed down / digest version?,’ but it will not be a digest.
  • As for whether the game will be open-world or not, that will be announced with the next information release.
  • The general systems from Final Fantasy VII Remake will carry over.
  • The scene in which Cloud and Sephiroth are walking together in the trailer is a Cloud flashback scene.
  • The main characters’ 3D models haven’t changed. However, some characters have been adjusted, such as Yuffie’s model, which we touched up from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.
  • The focal point of the story hasn’t been changed. As for the new mysteries that differ from the original Final Fantasy VII, players of the original will be able to enjoy the game in a new way. The challenge we tackled for this project was how to include those new mysteries without deviating from the original.
  • Regarding game progression, there will be some changes. If while you’re playing you think ‘Was this cut?,’ it’s because the structure of the story has changed a bit due to the nature of it being a trilogy. Although the order in which you visit some places may change, our policy is essentially not to cut anything.
  • It’s exclusive to PlayStation 5 because of the graphical quality, of course, as well as SSD access speed. Since the adventure unfolds in a vast world after the escape from Midgar, loading stress is an extreme bottleneck. We felt we needed the specifications of PlayStation 5 to overcome that and travel the world comfortably.

Great summary.

Very excited for this considering the points about extremely fast development and momentum carrying over from FF7Remake.

There's two things I want to see.

- A tease of the intro. I assume it'll start in the flashback so Cloud in the truck with Sephiroth during the storm would be a moody way to start the trailer.
- I really want to see exploration of the world. Show us the crew riding Chocobo and some of the vehicles from the OG.

There is a difference between not liking something and offering constructive criticism or opening a discussing and just shitting on something. I don't count your post as an "opinion". There is lots of games or devs I dont like, but I dont go into those threads just to do a drive by shit post.
