Final Fantasy XIII post-release comparison/garbage thread

a port is a port is a port. as long as the framerate and loading is optimal, 360 owners should be fine. PS3 owners can gloat.
And they should, for once they have (by and large) the definitive version of a high profile 3rd party game. We are missing a select few posters in here though, they know who they are. Funny how things work when things are flipped the other way. BUT 360 players really shouldn't feel in the cold. As I responded to Synless in the other thread, I thought Bayonetta was playable while looking like crap compared to the 360 version. This can't possibly be that bad a port. It looks more than competent.

i think duckroll's OP warnings are keeping them away :P

This one looks nice. The weird hair effect is not present.[/QUOTE]

Maybe the one in your post is an FMV cutscene?

Maybe photobucket is scaling it somehow...

I think you're right. On photobucket it shows as 1024x576. My question is : is this a coincidence? It seems to adjust to the resolution of the game itself.

It's a coincidence.
(Though it would be awesome if they had an automatic pixel-counting algorithm that adjusts screenshots to their native resolution :lol )

These shots are confusing the shit out of me, because they look a ton worse than when Square Enix showed us the game at their offices. Like, a lot. I'm starting to wonder if it's that these shots are fucked up (but why let them out the door?) or wonder what kind of fucking smoke and mirrors they had going on at the event.

EDIT: And what's with this weird black border around all the shots? What the fuck is going on?

I'm pretty sure there's a sharpness filter applied to these shots. It's really evident in the shot with Lightning doing an uppercut kind of thing, with "Cure" and "Tireless Charge" on the left side.

I now tried with 2 other shots and they are all resized to 1024 x 576. weird.

Didnt S-E release some crappy screenshots for FFCC: The Crystal Bearers to IGN awhile back? I remember something like that happening, then a little later, nice shots that actually reflected in game quality were uploaded.

I have no sympathy for S-E's PR department. At this point, they're just doing all the damage to themselves. It's pretty sad...

I think, can't be sure, that photobucket has an upload limit of 1024 x 768, but when you adjust to keep the aspect ratio 1280 x 720 image constraints to 1024 x 576.

Same choice S-E made? :D

That is why I said we should wait for the game to release, and not trust these screens. Someone thought I was in denial. :P

Most of that dithering(? the weird shit on hair) isn't really noticeable in motion.

I think, idk

Yeah..this is just a..mess... :lol
Photoshopped screens, screens with mouse cursors, screens with different resolutions...

If this is now, just with pictures..come mid-April, with the release of the NPD chart from March 2010...ugh..

Might as well just lock this thread for the moment and make a new one when the game is on hands..of everyone..or Beyond3D makes an actual comparison with videos, with the retail copy..or something...and ban any kind of comparison between both, till both are out there. Because, people will continue coming "Ugh... I'll cancel my preorder the Xbox 360 version"..then the arguments .. :p

I'M CANCELLING MY PREORDER OF THE 360 VERSION. )<
But seriously those screens. :lol Keep us updated AP since my buddy is getting the 360 version, but I'm sure he'd want to know if it's worse.

The worst shot for me is definitly the close up on lightning face. My god the hairs are awful. And god what happened to her eye lashes :( They look like they were added on the screen.

Also, in all the "Xbox 360 pics" aside the black border..there's this..

xbfwar.jpg

(zoomed 200%)

..Like an extra line of pixels..of some sorts...though also looks like a burn-in mark..

Looks like ghosting from a badly-shielded cable or sharpness turned too high.

Yeah..was looking for that term.. :lol
Also, edited the post and added that it looks like a burn-in..because it also looks like my previous LCD's burn-in marks all over the screen.. :lol

Is like they're taking this pics..from some...place and cropping them...then resize them. Which can explain the weird resolution, the bad quality, the weird contrast, the high sharpness, those "marks"..and the fact that this pics are always accompanied with PS3 version pics (the Snow/Team Nora pic..the PS3 version is all clean, the Xbox 360 pic has that "burn-in" and black border)...

Probably did captures from analog component video, added sharpness filter in an attempt to hide the fact that it's a lower rendering resolution, and just turned the filter up way too high, resulting in sharpening artifacts that look worse than just showing the lower rendering resolution to begin with. :lol

Yep..
All the pics has been distributed by the different Square-Enix regions (US, Europe).

They've only been distributed by the US. When emailed about the quality of these pictures the European guys were like:
