Fire Emblem If to feature Base Building mode and head rubbing mode

If your dialogue sounds like the beginning of a hentai...

.________.

Come on, homie. Not everything warrants such a critical view. It's yet another anime trope, the classic "let me wash your back" scenario, but applied in a way that simultaneously caters to women/gay guys and manages to undermine overly rigid views of masculinity. It's kinda lame but also kinda neat at the same time, all wrapped up in a harmless package.

You seemed to insinuate that when you suggested that the better solution was to nerf the might or accuracy or durability of 1-2 ranged weapons. Considering your attitude towards the more casual side of Fire Emblem, I assumed you were inherently against this change.

I mean this comment:

Combined with other comments like those in response to changes to the durability mechanic makes it very hard for me to assume you're anything but hard headed against these recent changes. Newsflash: there are people who like Fire Emblem for the SRPG aspect but are not die hard fans or very familiar with series mechanics. The elimination of double attack nerfs javelins and hand axes regardless of any statistics (might, accuracy, player unit, enemy unit) which is why it is good.
So we agree? :lol

It's like you're saying I can't voice my own opinion here. It's okay. Everyone enjoys different things. That doesn't mean I have to embrace it.

Awwww man. I should've known they'd use Fire Emblem Amiibo in a Fire Emblem game arrgh.

I hope they're still working on that "card scannable equivalent" for people that want the DLC but don't need to hunt down an ultra rare collectable. Something to address the issue! I mean, it'd be nice is all.

(Face touching is weird, Pokemon simulates pets, FE simulates archetype people, dunno what the eventual dealbreaker for Fire Emblem would be but guess it won't be that if it's ignorable. Heck, if using it gives the equivalent of a Defense Tonic, I might still do it.)

Rather I'm saying I'm at fault for making an assumption regarding your stance and we're basically agreeing that both methods work in some capacity.

I legitimately like this design and think comparing it to the creepy shit in Fire Emblem If is frustrating.

The worst I can say about this design is it's cluttered and bizarre (but I always thought it was reflecting the fact the FFTA-world takes place in a videogame, and it was the kid's idea of what's cool?), but there's nothing that would make people who see you playing a game with this character think you're a sexual deviant.

No it is not

Just proves the point. The game is pandering to a low denominator with cheap titillation.

If you don't see the issue, you might actually be a lost cause in the conversation of improving character design.

It's nice to see you going after this so fiercely and attacking anyone who says they might like it. It's cool if you don't like it, but it seems you are hanging around just to keep saying how bad it is every few posts and attack those who might not care or might not find it as bad as you do. You never went in this hard against the character design of Star Ocean 5 and that's just as bad and questionable as this, if not more so. But yeah keep spending your time on a game you don't like putting down it's fans, I just think it's a bit silly when I recognize people from other topics and their reactions in other ones.

Wasn't the world of Ivalice the characters end up in based on one of the character's memories of Final Fantasy? Looking it up, they're transported into a book, but the idea the characters are living in a fantasy world certainly is there enough I thought the design choice was chosen because of that.

I guess here I am trying to justify goofy design choices via plot though...

I'm hoping they do another round of printing them when it comes out, even though they didn't resupply enough Marths for Code Name Steam.

Whoa there.

Sexual deviancy isn't usually a problem. We all have our own kinks.

Yeah on that note, I miss Senri Kita....

Titania ♥️

But Fire Emblem until recently was never this straight-up in having elements meant for people to get their rocks off to.

If Fire Emblem was always a game that went for this, like it was always intended to be sexually titillating, I wouldn't be bothered---it's when these elements creep in is what bothers me, and many others.

Plus you know, I'm not some above-it-all individual who doesn't care what others think of me. I don't want people to think I'm a creepy nerd because a game I play has shit like this in it.

Watch they make amiibos for this freaking game.

Ugh.

I guess here I am trying to justify goofy design choices via plot though...

But how would you feel if the character designs of many characters in this FE are somewhat justified by plot?

e.g. Charlotte (white bra)'s outfit is skimpy because she's a gold digger who wants to lure men

I'm not trying to fool anyone into believing the character isn't devised in order to show a pair of tits on screen, but a justification via plot is there

I'd still think it's creepy and unappealing.

Wait, I want Animal crossing amiibo first!

Plot? What plot? Ivalice, especially the real Ivalice which FFTA2 takes place are medieval-like world, and does the (lol) Luso design justifies it? Nope for me.

I would feel they did some creepy shit and then came up for a plot excuse for creepy shit.

Pandering can be fun to write! But hey who cares what I think, this stuff is saving the series!

this stuff is saving the series!
Is it, though? I thought the streamlined gameplay, accessible difficulty levels, in depth class mechanics, innovative pairing system, two generations of fighters, great soundtrack, and an interesting blend of 2D sprites/3D background was what drew people in.

Nevermind, it was waifus the whole time. It is no wonder that face rubbing made its way into the franchise. It was inevitable!

For a million copy seller, otaku might comprise 10% max of your installation base. They were going to buy the game anyway.

This is a fairly natural extension of Awakening.

So losing sales due to disgusting new additions = natural extension of the game?

That's... visionary,

Wait, I want Animal crossing amiibo first!

They're making the card version for Animal Crossing.

I'm expecting a splatoon like three pack for this game to be announced closer to the western release with male/fem kamui and aqua myself. I mean they have to notice how popular the fire emblem amiibo are right now.

AAAAAND they will be gone.

See, that's thinking about it in a positive way. The people defending this are basically saying the old vets are just salty about nothing and if they don't like it they can just ignore it!

Will? They're already sold out.

This man from the future gets it.

Future travel or not, they WILL be gone AND sold out if this ever materializes.

Please no, Nintendo. I beg you.

I only managed to get my Fire Emblem amiibos because I imported them.

hmm... honestly i don't see the use for if characters to get amiibo at this point, not now seeing that its function in the game so far is just for unlocking 'old' characters.
kamui amiibo might be able to use for avatar storage, but that feature might be useless as you can streetpass your avatar & other savefiles can just import it (if it's still in the game)

TBH I expect this game to sell a bit worse than Awakening but earn much more, due to the campaign DLC.

I'm the same, I dont' think everybody who bought Awakening was fully on board, the hype for that game is something that I don't think will hit Fire Emblem ever again.

But then again the Amiibo sales are legit (Marth was a high seller in Japan for example), and they were supply blocked in the west.

Think I'm going to chose one of the hairstyles on the right if these turn out to be the only options for male.

Not really feeling any of them on the left.

I expect them to unlock more options for customizing Kamui and unlock another outfit for Aqua.

Mind you this is 100% speculation on my part, and I've been plenty wrong on earlier speculation (I was kinda hoping this game would be a return to Tellius with Priam as the MC).

What is Sora/Roxas doing in Fire Emblem? (Second hair on the left)

Second on the left looks like Ringabel.

That one too.

Honestly i expect it to sell at least a bit better mainly due to the fact that it's 2 different versions of a game

Maybe, we'll see. I don't mind being wrong.

Sticking with the standard hair but it's great to not be stuck with one style. Now if color options are available too...

There's no reason they won't be.

For Awakening, I went purple/male blue/female.

Blue/male Green/female this time. Can't wait.

I just realized another reason I'm not liking the character designs. Something seemed off but I couldn't put my finger on it, but it's the color, or lack thereof. Awakening, whatever you think about the designs, were way more colorful.

I get the whole black and white theme they have going, but everyone in this game looks same-y. Almost everyone has either white or black clothes. Most everyone is super pale with blonde/silver hair or super pale with bright red hair. I don't like that, even though I like the general art direction for the world, like the castle for instance.

Watching that translated video has just confirmed my suspicions about the face rubbing: It's just shoehorned into the game with the intention of pandering to the otaku/fujoshi demographic.

You are literally beckoning your siblings, servants, and fellow comrades-in-arms into your room to privately rub their faces and pat their heads while they blush and coo.

And you can possibly do this to every recruitable unit in the game. See all those gruff and battle-scarred warriors seen in this thread? All are welcome recipients of the stylus.

Even ignoring the creep factor of all this, this just feels way out of place for this game. This is coming from a guy who got a kick out of feeding macaroons to giant world destroying gods in Pokemon X.

Are they? I understand they are more two different games based on a common cast and assets.

ha I wasn't meaning that, I meant more in that the game may end up with higher sales than Awakening due to there being 2 versions of the game to purchase, so many are gonna end up buying both versions.

We don't know the sales model in the West yet, I don't think many people would double dip in the West if they did use that model.

Must be a Manakete thing then.

Even if Kamui went for Dragon Deer as his Draconic form.

This is why I get annoyed when people try to tell me it's just "optional". I have to go out of my way to ignore this kind of shit that absolutely destroys the tone of the game. It gives the game a weird uncomfortable atmosphere that FE absolutely did not have in the past, at least not in the US release games.

You never went in this hard against the character design of Star Ocean 5 and that's just as bad and questionable as this, if not more so.
The character design in Star Ocean? You mean the shitty green hair witch with massive boobs? I thought that was stupid, but no I wasn't eviscerating it, since I really have 0 connection to Star Ocean. Never played a game, the series always struck me as anime pandering. I did repeatedly call that character shitty and stupid though. The purple haired girl was moe and dumb, but all I remember from those screens was the green haired girl. She's awful. With this game, we have at least two awful characters: Charlotte and Camilla. And yes, I will harp on people who like them, because they're shitty character designs.

Not saying it'll happen, but can you imagine if this game gets censored in the West and the beyond creepy face rubbing thing is not present in our version of the game? Gods of Censorship, I summon you!
