Fire Emblem If to feature Base Building mode and head rubbing mode

I noticed this one too, this can lead to various interesting scenarios where you can get royally screwed because you spend all your Dragon Vein points on another mission trying to save a unit in 1 mission (building a bridge, creating cover, etc...) but that leads to losing more big and vital options in the next map...

Yeah, I think it'll be neat, especially if using Dragon's Vein can help you complete sub-objectives (think PoR-like sub-objectives) in certain chapters or if you have to choose between multiple points in which to use the ability in a particular chapter. It could be a great resource management mechanic (provide they aren't too abundant or too scarce, of course).

No, really, I don't get it.

Ok. If there is somebody asking for censorship and then asking for no region-lock, to me that's hypocrisy because region-lock is a form of censorship too. Putting in a home console example, it is like when people complained about Microsoft getting the 1 month DLC deal with Activision, then the same people cheering when Sony (just a rumor now though) apparently got the deal.

Region lock is mostly a measure to prevent people from buying cheaper games from elsewhere. You can oppose that and petting maids, IMO :P

Right, and what about games that will never come? DQ7 says hello. It is used as the method you said, but that's not the only use.

I won't use it and I'm not really complaining about it, but NOA has aged characters in the past and censored some of the dlc, so it's definitely possible.

There's a third route where you choose neither side, that we're waiting to here more details on.

not choosing either side would be great if it's like a happy middle difficulty wise and you aren't like completely limited to interactions with the family members because you didn't choose their family.

people I'm creeped out too but you do realize you can like... not use the feature right?

Yes, this is true, but a lot of people fail to understand this. Awakening had some creepy fan service and sold well (not saying creepy fan service is the reason for good sales). Now they added more creepy fan service in the next game. What will happen in the next game? Will they continue to build on the creepy fan service? If it's a one off thing, I'd just laugh and move on, but now it looks like it'll be a trend. I hope I'm dead wrong.

DQ7 didn't come because it was deemed not worth the investment - that's why I oppose region lock. And petting maids :]

As it should.

I wonder if they will bring the puff-puff west like they did with the PS2 version.

If DQ8 ever comes, which is near 0% chance. Looking forward for the reactions.

I don't get it. Do you still not see how opposing region lock doesn't mean I should want maid petting in this game?

Of course you can not want something, there is nothing wrong in that, I undestand. But asking for censorship on an optional feature is different.

I'm hardly asking, though. The Censorship Gods don't actually exist :P I'm simply not going to complain if it happens.

so you're just sticking around to cause trouble? don't you have anything better to do?
No, I was sticking around to have a discussion about character designs and the way they've changed through the series (in many ways for the worse), which only one or two people seemed interested in. The most common themes to the accusation of shitty character design is something along the lines of "I like boobs" and "Hot things are cool." So whatever.

So after watching this translated version of the My Castle video, it does appear that Kamui can just invite every unit into his room to pat and it's not just a lovers thing. LOL.

I wouldn't mind this feature so much if it were just for laughs like the Hubba tester. But the fact that it feels like it's a way for otaku to rub all the little sisters and boob girls I'm cynical of it.

If this were in Awakening, and you could do it to Gangrel or Basilio though, I have to say it'd be worth it.

.....
........

There would have to be a polish you could buy from Anna, that you could use to give Basilio's head a mirror sheen.
I like the way you think my friend.

I give up. I hope you're happy casual Awakening players, you've singlehandedly allowed this weeb'ed up idiocy to happen to what most long time players considered a nice challenging SRPG. I'm out.

Don't let the door hit your nose on the way out.

Such an overdramatic response over something so trivial and insignificant. And who are you anyways to claim that you speak for "most long time players". What a drama queen.

I am also a "long time player" of Fire Emblem and I am here to stay, so see you later then bro. I'll be sure to send you letters of gratitude as well from all the "casual Awakening players" since they're surely happy someone oh-so-elite like you are not going to bother them while they're enjoying If.

Maybe you "long time players" should've actually bought the games so they didn't have to resort to this.

if this is what it takes to keep a series alive nowadays...

i'd be willing to step to new lows to get a new F-Zero game.

i can't remember the Architect's quote from Matrix Relooaded atm

So the touching thing, while it comes off as a little odd makes some sense to me. Firstly, your character's a Lord, so you're a powerful figure to these people. People line up to kiss the pope's ring and shake celebrity's hands, a pat on the head from the president would make some people's decade. And while the implementation may seem awkward, there are much worse alternatives:

1) Full body go where you will touching: As hilarious as it would be to grope everything that walks into your tent, it goes from "wierd" to "wtf" as soon as you add it to this kind of game. Also goes from affection to potential exploitation. This is a no no.

2) List of affectionate gestures when someone walks in, pre-scripted responses. Shake hand, bow, kiss, hug, fist bump. It's a less elegant solutions and people will end up looking up the "best" decision anyway.

3) Pre-scripted interactions based on the character/loyalty combinations. Utterly skippable. Zero interaction.

I think this is the best solution for showing affection in a game where bonding with your followers is encouraged and a pretty big draw for the series in general. It's a little awkward but so was petting Slugma and Kirlia, utlimately i'm satisfied.

I think some of the changes in the series aren't really things I like, but I don't get these elitist posts... I just feel like I'll feel uncomfortable playing a game with these female character designs around my girlfriend. It's a bit embarrassing to depict women that way to me. I wish there were alternative costumes. That'd be perfect for everyone!

Anyway, still excited for the new game. Hope I can get my hands on the special edition. I hope there are more copies at some point...

Something something ergo something.

How would that work when your biological siblings and parents are white asian?

"You ended up having genes that could give your skin various levels of an Okinawan-style tan."

Seriously, in a setting where some type of bloodline power that apparently skips generations allows you to turn into Dragon-Deer things, explaining away skin tones should be the least of our worries.

I see some of the people complaining about FE's art direction and "weeb" game features....

...but they have persona 4 avatars?

Really? FEif is where you draw the line?

Roberta was pretty much the Terminator lol. She is the weapon

That chasing after the car then "grabbing onto it" with her knife most def was a nod to Terminator 2. That knife while not exactly the same as the one the antagonist had am almost certain it was also a nod to the movie Cobra with Sylvester Stallone.

She had emotions, she cared what the kid thought of her.
Yeah, their whole thing was kinda touching. Weird, but touching.

Speaking of Black Lagoon, forget maids, let's bring in the battle nuns.

Let's hope there's no hot spring trip in P5...

Yup it seems most successful character based jrpgs have waifu simulator elements. Fire Emblem isn't an exception. Final fantasy XV seems to be going the husbando route. Wonder how that will pan out.

Hm. Well, after witnessing Awakening's hot springs/beach episode shenanigans, I've come to terms with the fact that modern Fire Emblem is going to be a lot more...indulgent...than its predecessors. Watching characters you've come to be attached to pal around is fun; the support system in FE7 is one of the big reasons it's my favourite FE. And I guess the bathhouse and Unit Amie stuff is an extension of things like base convos and unit support skits. But even though these anime-inspired additions are quite tame, it still feels like that the game is trying to wank you.

I agree that some of the new artist's character designs are pretty tacky, but there's a lot of great ones he's doing for FE:if, too. Generally, I think the character design for FE:if is a lot better than Awakening's. I can ignore Camilla and Charlotte for character designs like Oboro's and Marx's. But I do think their designs do reflect the series's problematic new focus on indulging the player, and I don't know high on the totem pole gameplay and design is anymore by comparison. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I'll soldier through it. For now.

A lot of the new gameplay changes sound neat, though. Still interested in what the changes mean for the main campaign.
