First downsampled 1080p screens from PS4 Pro (Titanfall 2)

Please do every VR title you have, especially DC VR, social screen screenshots might show res/aliasing improvement.

The picture comparison is there to prove it's not JUST looking at palm fronds. The difference is quite noticible.

He's saying that he's not going to look closely at how sharp our not sharp everything is while playing the game. It's not enough for him to care. People need to understand everyone will have a different threshold of caring. He's not saying he doesn't see the difference in the comparison. I imagine there are plenty of people who think the difference is huge but then will pick streaming video over a Blu-ray.

Why do some folks who aren't buying the Pro feel they have to insult those who want one? If you don't want it, fine, but there are a lot of others who clearly see and want the benefits. It doesn't just have to do with static screenshots either. There are performance benefits to be had as well.

PS4 Pro has been demonstrated to provide all those things--better geometry, better effects, better framerate, etc.--from the very first time Sony showed footage. It's up to the developers which elements they wish to improve.
Nearest neighbour shouldn't be used, it discards information when downscaled and duplicates texel when upscaled. (Reason why Vita version of Ratchet and Clank looks crappy.)Well here is the final comparison for now. Thanks to Taker34 for sending me a native 4k skyrim shot and the 1080p supersampled mode.

Yes that is finally supersampled 1080p it looks literally the same as the downscaled image.
In 4k to 1080p scaling it would discard 3 of 4 samples.
Binear is the cheapest usable method.

The Pro could easily improve IQ and performance for Bloodborne. It has already done that for more technically impressive games.

Of course they will, come Monday you will most likely see a lot, but its nice to see 1080p captures from the Pro now instead of 720p.

It's night and day. The difference is like a low-end PC to high-end, it's that big. It makes me eager to get a Pro, but kinda sad at the same time my PS4 is now being left behind.

It's been quite a turn to see but not entirely unsurprising considering the original complaints were fabricated concerns to begin with. The biggest turn around to me has been the 'being forced to upgrade' line. It used to be trotted out in almost every PC thread, and now has been strangely absent since the Pro and Scorpio were announced
Next to go is 'I just want to simply put in disc and play without having to tweak settings' since some patched Pro games will have multiple graphics options to choose from.

At this point they have two options per display type; quality and performance. I wouldn't say that's the same as actually having to tweak the settings to get a game run properly, or altering between several settings until you get the optimal ratio between quality and performance, which I've had to do on PC.

The biggest 2 issues with me for PC gaming are
1. Cheats - Its far too common on PC to gain an advantage, whether its a plain cheat or optimised fire rate for gun, wall hack or the like. PC gaming is rife with mods.
2. Mouse and keyboard and sitting 1 ft from a gaming monitor with wide FOV does not mix with players on a couch wanting to sit back with a controller.
Yes cheats do exist on Console, but anyone claiming PC games have less issues is a google search away from being proved wrong.
I have always desired PC like performance in a console with controllers in my living room.

I can upload some Deus Ex and DC VR 1080p comparison shots today - would do a lot more if I wouldn't have to swap my 2 and 1 TB HDDs and basically re downloading everything on my Pro again.

Downsizing in photoshop is not the same as taking a shot of a native PS4 pro game... At all.
But I see there are some legit shots here as well.

I play MP games on PC often, and I don't think cheating is as rife as you think. Rainbow Six Siege had issues with it because Ubisoft released the game without any client side cheat detection, but has since fixed that and the game has been fine since then.
If you are that concerned about cheating I don't know how you would be ok with the way people are using completely undetectable mouse and keyboard adapters on PS4 and XB1 now. That is something that is only going to get worse as more people buy them just to keep up with people they perceive to be using them. They have gotten much more advanced and absolutely do provide an advantage now, and there is no way to detect and ban them since they emulate a controller's signal to the console.
There is also things like the CronusMAX allowing people to create hardware macros that are undetectable as well. Neither console or PC 100% cheat free right now and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The best you can hope for is a good deterrent that turns off 99% of cheaters.
As to your second point I'd agree with that, those are two seperate audiences and it doesn't mix well.Not a lot can be done about that really unless people want to accept new inputs.

The floodgates are open though. Tomb Raider will have 3 modes to choose from. Considering all I do when I launch a PC game is maybe turn VSYNC off and that's been overblown by console gamers as 'fiddling with settings for hours' I think that compares.
Also, no one was forced to upgrade before to have games run, either. Now you understand what it's like to have to correct people's assumptions on that matter.

The post shows, that there's no difference between a direct capture and downscaled image.
Those people were of course just downplaying PC's advantaged due to bitterness but I think these people really wanted a PC like experience all along, but without actually owning a PC. Whether this is due to the perceived complexity of PC or just that gd ol brand loyalty I'm not sure but you definitely see less and less embarrassing posts like that now. Now they have a much closer experience to PC to choose from from the consoles, they are loving it. Now we can all bask in glory with our super IQ gameplay experiences, now consoles just need to up their game on performance and they're almost there!
Yes there is. Surprisingly at a first glance the Pro shot has less aliasing in the distant mountains, the photoshop downscaled image has bigger jaggies much like the native 4k shot. I'm positively surprised by this.

I opened the images in a new tab, and I guess there's a slight difference in that regard. It's a good thing though, if the direct capture actually looks better than the Photoshop image.
I'm not just referring to those people concern trolling, but also folks who are legtimiately concerned about their PS4 experience being compromised, people who actually want to be able to fully understand what they should expect from the Pro uniformly, ect.
Whether its PC players against console, console against PC, console players against console, it feels like tensions are unnecessarily high ATM.
