Will Battlefield 1 run in higher resolution on Pro?
Games are required to run at 1080p minimum on pro. They can't be sub native res. So by default BF1 on Pro will run at a higher resolution than PS4. I don't think PS4 ever gets to 1080p

Would upset too many PC players, the OT would be a mess (probably will be anyway but yeah)
Nah, we actually don't give a fuck. It's nice that you think that though.
So... I'll notice a difference with my 1080p TV with the PS4 Pro?

It's been quite a turn to see but not entirely unsurprising considering the original complaints were fabricated concerns to begin with. The biggest turn around to me has been the 'being forced to upgrade' line. It used to be trotted out in almost every PC thread, and now has been strangely absent since the Pro and Scorpio were announced
Next to go is 'I just want to simply put in disc and play without having to tweak settings' since some patched Pro games will have multiple graphics options to choose from.
Please ignore him, some console warriors can't help themselves. Let's not have the thread go to shit again
Haha for your information I play PC as well as console. Im just stating a fact and not trying to cause arguments. Unfortunately some of you are too defensive to see that though, hence you just have to put the console warrior snipe in.
Well, just pulled the trigger. Target with the 10% off kids wish list was a slightly better deal than amazon. Can't wait til wednesday.
Is PC-Gaf as money conscious as console-Gaf?
I can't remember seeing a new gfx card being released and having a thread full of people speculating whether its worth it or not.............they just throw money at it and hope for the best
The Pro is offering a significant upgrade to the og ps4 for £349 especially if you factor in trade-ins.
Is this why this is the first time we've had a mid gen change up from a console manufacturer? the mindset is completely different?
I don't think so, if anything sony may change some of its policies. Allow pro only games foe example. Right now sony is playing it too safe trying not to alienate existing ps4 owners. They have DOUBLE the power at their disposal and I bet once it's accepted and possibly outselling the slim/standard model ( not in total sales, but month to month ) they will change their tone.Having a PS4 Slim and a high end PC this shots are still not enough to buy a PS4 Pro for me. It's kinda funny, but I'll wait for the inevitable announcement of the Sony's new console to fight against the Xbox Scorpio. I'll not bite the "NEW 3ds" effect again lol.

This post is all sorts of NO
Big difference between the Pro and a graphics card considering a PC doesn't need a patch to make your library look better, and you have control over what performance benefits you want.Is PC-Gaf as money conscious as console-Gaf?

I wonder if Sony have any plans for when Scorpio drops though?

Their plan is probably dropping the OG PS4 in 2018

Bound - I've checked a number of stories and some infer additional effects but only resolution bump is confirmedOff the top of my head, Bound, Paragon, TLOU, Ni-Oh, Uncharted, Infamous, and Titanfall 2 all have announced graphics and/or framerate improvements besides just resolution. I'm sure there are more I don't remember, and there will be many more in the future.
If you think the only difference in PS4 Pro games will be resolution, I'd strongly suggest you read up on the topic. GAF has had plenty of threads recently.
Bound - I've checked a number of stories and some infer additional effects but only resolution bump is confirmed
Paragon - fair enough...but it's still pretty bland i.e. not a showpiece to see what can be achieved
The Last Of Us - enhanced shadow maps...that's it
Ni-Oh - resolution settings to maximise performance or vice versa
Uncharted 4 - no real information so far
inFAMOUS Second Son - increased resolution happens to show particles/smoke effects better
TitanFall 2 - hi-res shadows and more particle effects
So yeah...not much going on really.
Like I said in my caveat, maybe we'll see more from developers with games in production now, rather than a patched release.
On PRO there's also additional volumetric lighting added, it's up to you . I think it would be a good thing to play now and then compare with PRO version and write about it from player perspective, because we are so much biased already that it doesn't make sense to say anything .
Well yeah but for the price of my gpu and cpu I can buy almost 3 PS4PRO consoles

they're the same platform until Sony says they aren'tBy the time Scorpio drops they will likely already be on a price drop, i think that's a pretty decent plan, and they are still going to sell more regardless globally.
I feel they will stick it out until 2019 and then really hit hard with PS5.
MS has scorpio coming out, but i would say that the impact for whatever system they came out with after that is blunted the more powerful they want to make this one cause the jump will be less impressive. Considering their views on becoming a platform, they can just have devs focus on Scorpio development and wait until 2020/2021 to launch Scorpio 2 or whatever.
It seems like Sony and MS are going more for diverging release dates now, which generally has always been the case for them outside of PS4 and XB1 which just happend to release the same year, only a week apart
PS4 and Pro are the same platform. No point in dropping either one of them in general if they carry the same ecosystem complete with games, and such forward.
Pro is not strong enough to make PS4 irrelevant outside of providing prettier graphics and more stable FPS.
Nintendo still sells 3DS after N3DS was on the market, and will probably stop selling them both at the same time
That doesn't really change what you get when you compare the Pro to PC imo. I was just answering OPs question.Well yeah but for the price of my gpu and cpu I can buy almost 3 PS4PRO consoles
This will absolutely never be the case. Sony has been incredibly clear on this point.
they're the same platform until Sony says they aren't
.
I'm not saying you are wrong. But how many times have sent been straight up adamant about something only to change their minds later. The dualshock 3 fiasco comes to mind. I don't trust Sony as far as I can throw their corporate hq
lol Yup, PC games never need patching to take advantage of a new GPU, but the GPU does.
And PC games never need patching for a new version of DX to get those advantages... oh wait... yes they do.
I was just correcting your misapprehension that PS4 Pro wasn't already offering better framerates, better shadows, better geometry, better lighting, better particles, etc. etc. Whether you find particular upgrades compelling is on you. But they are there. So yeah...not much going on really.
PS5 announcement. Holliday 2019. 15tf machine. CG rendered circuitry and everything.I wonder if Sony have any plans for when Scorpio drops though?

It'll be a NURBS console.
This has been the top selling PS4 in Amazon since release(#1 for a few days) and now it's #6 and climbing. This is going to sell gangbusters!

Both SS and First Light will also have 1080p high-performance modes for the user to select over high-res as well.inFAMOUS Second Son - increased resolution happens to show particles/smoke effects better
Well certainly debatable, and you basically focused on all the games that don't have performance/image quality options and ignored the ones that do. It's also very early and developers are still getting a handle of what resources they will have to dedicate to produce a PS4 Pro patch. If this is the entire list of pre-november games that get patches in 2 months time then yes, I will agree that would be disappointing. So yeah...not much going on really.
