• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

First shots fired in the next gen power comparison?

I don't get it, I'm a little tired so maybe I'm being dumb, but arent they both saying the same thing? I dont see a up-to anywhere in their statement. Both are 4k60.

PUBG is running in BC mode, so it will run at pro settings.

idk what this means, 4k at 60 and 4k and 60 is the same thing, isn't it? Or is 4k at 60fps locked constant 60fps, and 4k and 60fps its one or the other but not both at once, what the fuck, am i losing my mind here?

Comparisons will be coming. Might as well wait a few more days before having a console orgasm...

Who gives a shit, even if this was true? I wouldn't come to any conclusions if 3rd party games run or look slightly better on one console or the other. Maybe that's the console they focused on during development, are more comfortable with, have more experience w/architecture and frameworks, is better suited to that particular game, etc etc.

Sorry but I'm trying to find the info about PS5 on OP tweets... can you help me?

Edit - I found it lol

The OP means "4k and 60fps" vs "4k at 60fps"? I'm not the native English so what is the difference between these terms?

I said it before unless the game got downgraded, there is no way this runs at 4k and 60 fps on a PS5. AC games are demanding as hell.

Specs-1080jpg.jpg

But on XSX it will, thanks to 17% more GPU performance? Alright.

Saying "4K and 60fps" is they really mean "4K or 60fps" would be hella dumb. "4K at 60fps" and "4K and 60fps" imply exactly the same thing unless you're intentionally trying to read stupid shit into it.

This feels childish as fuck... But I guess you gotta get those jabs in anyway they'll land. Xbox bros did just come out of a very hard gen.

To be honest, i think its just harmless word play, and you shouldnt look too much into this until you get confirmation.
When they do these press releases, they dont expect desperate console warriors to scrutinize every single word.
I think they are avtually very careful with each press release.

I have noticed several games claming "up to 60 fps"
And this just means the game is not 60 solid fps, but it may reach 60fps sometimes.

As a general note, language is important indeed so we should pay attention to subtle differences in press releass.

Aah well..close thread already.

Suddently, a lack of posters.

I wonder why.

The Xbox and PS5 sections were obviously writtern by different people.
We will know soon enough what is right, comparisons will be here very soon.

Saw this comment there from a mod and he's right about alot of things with what happened.

We need to all stop being so damn pedantic about the smallest wording choices.

That thread was full of picking over individual words and sentences in what was essentially a mish mash of copy/pasted press releases clearly written by different people. 'And or Or' was by far not the only thing that people were concerned about.

They said 'or' not 'and'
They didn't mention Series S so that must obviously be half the framerate
They didn't mention DualSense for Valhalla
They didn't mention 3D Audio for Xbox Watch Dogs

etc

It was a random blog post that someone made a thread about and then 400 people proceeded to pick it apart and criticising it for not being 1000% clear on every little detail of everything.

As I said yesterday, signed, someone who writes public facing things like this daily and is used to them being picked to shreds by pedants who have got the wrong end of the stick about everything.

Insomniac used the "up to 60fps" wording as well for Spider-Man remaster and NXGamer could not find any drop in framerate in the footage available.

5700XT is ~10TF GPU, you would need (more than...) 2x that to render this game in 4K with the same settings in 60FPS, consoles are just slightly better than this GPU.

IF a 5700XT can do 1440p60 at V.High id think the XSX/PS5 GPUs would be able to carry the consoles to 4K60 with some graphical cut backs.

The most important thing here is how good are the assets. Ive seen pubg look decent and ive seen it look like dogshit. 4k 60fps is much less impressive if there no change in the settings when compared to pc

The tweet in OP doesn't speak for us all, I can assure you. It's mildly embarrassing yet entertaining at the same time. I don't take this shit too seriously.

I'm looking forward to my new console, and so should PS5 buyers 👍🏻
