I haven't really driven for 18 years. Last car I owned was a Mk III Escort.

The missus is awful at parking so I get to do that occasionally.

Edit:

Reading over at Forza Central there's a good chance whatever is coming this week isn't the Nurburgring, maybe some of those laser scanned tracks that was leaked by Smart Geometrics?

I'm excited yet thoroughly prepared for disappointment.

What were the leaked tracks? This is the first I've heard of it. I don't care what the DLC is anymore. I'm just glad they are still supporting the game and we'll get it for free.

Long Beach
Monza
Silverstone
Yas Marina
Pacific Raceways (iirc a shot of this also appeared on the FM site a long time ago)

And a couple of others.

What does the rest of ForzaGAF drive in the physical world?
Mine's an E92 335d.
I just replaced my 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS for a 2014 Nissan Altima. Not as much fun to drive, but way more features and more room in the back for the kids.

Other vehicle is a 2012 Honda Odyssey Touring... having kids means having lots of stuff to pack so the room is welcome, but it's actually a pretty nice drive. To think I could have bought an STI for significantly less than the Odyssey though... oh well, maybe when I replace the Altima.

I don't have my license yet, but i have a 2004 E46 330i Touring.

My bet is that the big announcement will be a Saab expansion.

Nice car man and I, honestly, would LOVE a Saab expansion. They have made some interesting and quirky cars over the years.

I know that feeling man. My M3 is currently sitting in my driveway awaiting repairs that I can't currently afford. So I have been driving a 2000 Chrysler Town & Country on most days.

I love Monza, would be delighted to have it in Forza.

But it wouldn't feel like huge news - so yes it would be a bit of a let down. Unless it was one of five tracks all coming at once - that would be quite a big deal.

Still no Ring though.

Twitch never worked for me, wonder if this will?

Just throwing this out there.. a buddy of mine raged over his twitch not working. Finally found out he had disabled the auto record videos and that is the same setting as broadcast so make sure you have that checked in your x1 settings.

It does not error out and tell you thats why... so hoping that might be your issue.

Oh thanks, would that be in the dashboard or the Twitch sidebar thing that pops up where you can change the bitrate and so on?

Really must learn to use this thing, I haven't done anything more than play Forza on it.

So I jumped in and bought the Thrustmaster TX wheel. I really haven't touched any of my ps3 or 360 racing games since Forza 5 came out and with PCars and F1 this fall, it seemed like the time was right to transition. After selling my fanatec gt2 it was only about a $100 delta to "upgrade" to this wheel. I say "upgrade" in jest because I lost my clutch and shifter which will have to be upgraded later. Anyway, I mounted the wheel on my stand and have a couple of hours hot lapping rivals to get it dialed in and comfortable with it. My initial impressions:

1. There is some cheap plastic but the wheel, including the rubber grips, feels really solid. Not quite as nice as the alcantara on my fanatec, but nice.

2. I'm already matching my controller times, but I am used to a wheel. The main point is the wheel is very responsive and easy to use.

3. Pedals are surprisingly good. Very solid feel.

4. The FFB effects and vibration are absolutely phenomenal. Truly a next gen wheel. I don't know if it is Forza 5, or the wheel, or a combination of the two, but this blows the fanatec away. I can actually feel the tire flexing, levels of grip change, etc, etc. The most eye opening moment was driving through Prague and actually feeling my tires slip on the rails. It really felt like it does in real life. I'm very impressed with the tactile feel and feedback.

So is this add-on coming Tuesday, Thursday or neither. Who's guessing.

The announcement is Thursday. Turn10 usually doesn't have much time between announcements and releases. I'd imagine we'll have the DLC by end of the month if not sooner.

Especially after the big fuss they made regarding getting the Hockenheimring in Forza 4

They looked to have done a thorough job on it too going by the video.

Good isn't it. Wider array of effects than we had before, a wheel feels almost like an assist with the extra information.

Didn't have to dump the Fanatec pedals though

I think it was mrbasher who said the shifter port is disabled on the current firmware too so there's no option but to wait.

Makes me think the Fanatec Porsche/CSR may be simple to get working as they also use a PS/2 connector.

You know there is still a chance you won't be any better off on the PS4
Yes, but my CSR has the "FM" logo emblazoned on it, not "GT", so I'm not as apt to be upset with Sony. And since Fanatec wheels use the Logitech setup in GT, it's much more likely to be backwards compatible with the PS4, as long as Sony keeps compatibility with old Logitec wheels. Could you imagine the shit storm Sony would face from Logitech owners if they removed older wheel compatibility?

Didn't they do just that?

See the GT6 thread from today. Haven't seen confirmation though.

Sorry, not Sony's fault. It was said to be Logitech that's not supporting PS4.

I don't know if I trust what he said. You can't just drop a bomb like that and not provide a link.

It's odd that Sony hasn't really addressed the issue yet. They aren't in a rush because they don't have a game that uses a wheel on the ps4, yet it was kind of weird how Thomas from Fanatec was implying he wasn't a fan of Sony's approach on the wheel situation.

Yeah I had a little look around the usual places but didn't find much on the situation, really hope it's a mistake as there's so many of those wheels out there.

If they are truly getting out of the wheel business, I could see them not wanting to pay a licensing fee on a new system, but that would really suck.
