Can't wait. When I get back from PAX we'll be racing on the new laser scanned ring. Or whatever track it is, if its a track. It will be a track right Helios? One wink for yes, two winks for track and cars.

Is there any evidence to suggest that the 'Ring is coming, or is it a matter of simple, (and in this case perfectly understandable), collective desire? Given the time and expense that remodeling it would entail, the cynic in me finds it hard to believe that they'd just give it away for free, but dammit would I love to be served a nice helping of crow!

Personally, a Porsche pack would do just fine, thank you very much. I play Forza for the cars, and would take the return of Porsche over any 10 tracks, or 20 even, if it were to include the 935/78, 917, and 919.

Regardless of the contents of the upcoming DLC, the updates and post-launch support for FM5 have been most welcome. Keep it up, Turn 10.

i think it all stems from that pre-release magazine article in which they mentioned the ring would be added as dlc, in january iirc.


while the ring would certainly be a welcomed addition, forza 5 is severely lacking in some of the unique tracks the series has been known for. give me positano and kaido

Fingers crossed for you guys that the Nordschleife is indeed incoming. I've been playing it in FM4, GT5 and Shift 2 recently and it's omission so far from FM5 is criminal. If it does arrive in FM5 in laser-scanned glory then it could well be the definitive version.

Just a thought guys, but what if it's not a track they will announce on Thursday. What if the free DLC is a new mode like the rally pack in horizon or a 24 hour race for Le Mans with a day/night cycle.

I am sure nobody agrees with me, but I would rather have The Ring. I don't care all that much about day/night, I would just rather have another course.

The popular expectation (not just here, but on other forums too) is undoubtedly that this announcement will be about a new track, and probably the Nordschleife. If this doesn't turn out to be the case then it'll be another spectacular own goal, I'm afraid. Surprises shouldn't be teased and hyped unless you are pretty fucking sure it's what your audience wants and expects.

It just needs to be a major change. It could be be the ring or a track with a different time of day or weather.

As long as it's not cars.

After seeing some stuff on "build" conf and some nvidia stuff too on them clouds, I do kind of believe that in the next couple of years we may see a forza game where the calculations about weather and the calculations about environmental time of day lighting etc are done on azure, and just some series of coordinates along with color code are passed to local processor to "paint" them on screen, without having to put up all the math too.

wont be happening this week though, not in this upcoming dlc. nope :D

I wonder if the rumoured pre-war race cars may make an appearance or it was a mistake. Can't even remember where I read it now but iirc it was related to an entry in the leaderboards possibly in a similar fashion to how RA was semi confirmed.

The 24 player thing also dissapeared though so who knows what makes the cut.

I agree with Mascot. This can't be anything but a track, hopefully it's the ring, but any track would be cool. I was just wondering if maybe they would bring in something they wanted to do from the start of development, like day/night. It's just spit balling, I'm just super excited to hear what the news is.

Like I said earlier, if you're going to tease an awesome secret then you'd better make damn sure it's either:
A. what everyone wants and/or expects
or
B. better than what everyone wants and/or expects.

If it's something as asinine as more cars then serious questions need asking in MS's marketing department.

Trip to Turn 10 was AWESOME ! Asked a lot of your questions and they gave me some great answers. Also got to check out the next DLC that's coming and it's in a word.. INCREDIBLE ! That's all I can share about it.. lol

Thanks for your questions as they made for a great interview. I sat down Alan Hartman and Dan Greenawalt and they opened up to a lot of your questions. My show will post on April 10th due to discussion of the new content.

Also got to hang out with John Wendl and Brian Eckberg and meet a lot of other people from the team who are avid ISR watchers. The team that works on FFB asked for my advice on it and took notes.

We never got the behind the scenes stuff this time, hoping for some interesting shit. Wonder what comes of the ffb notes they took. I like the way it is now but there's some room for for improvement.

....unless it was a 2004 SVT Cobra.


We need more cars in this game. We need more cars in this game that aren't added as paid DLC.

Tracks will be Catalunya Grand Prix and Road Atlanta. If the DLC announcement is nordchleife we'll be racing it as well. Actually if the DLC is a track, we'll be racing it. Still have to figure out how many laps per track but you can start practicing now.

No races next week, I'll be at PAX East. If you are going let me know, we can go for a pint. Now I just realized the week after is Easter. Not sure if P3tran will still be eating lamb, but I might be missing the races to have lamb too. Let me know if we should reschedule the race day. Maybe move it to Saturday? What do you guys think?

I haven't really driven for 18 years. Last car I owned was a Mk III Escort.

The missus is awful at parking so I get to do that occasionally.

Edit:

Reading over at Forza Central there's a good chance whatever is coming this week isn't the Nurburgring, maybe some of those laser scanned tracks that was leaked by Smart Geometrics?

I'm excited yet thoroughly prepared for disappointment.
