you sure you ever had sex? sounds more like masturbationGaimeGuy said:It's like sex... you feel the buildup, then you come.... it feels GREAT... and then right afterwards, you feel like shit and don't feel like doing it anymore.![]()
Deku said:I want the simplicity this Sonic game offers, which is basic running, dogding obstacles and jumping. The free roaming Sonics ruined the franchise.

An example of the Sploogefest that was Sonic during E3
Krowley said:As a huge fan of the series, i'm really looking forward to this and i don't mind that it's on rails at all.. I also like the looks of the ps3/360 game, but the gameplay in this one seems closer to true sonic. I became a fan of the series during the first two 2d games, and this one seems to live up to that tradition..
The only thing i don't like the sound of so far is the jump mechanic... Having to hold in a button to jump seems to break the flow, but i'm guessing they will come up with some level designs that make it fit. this is the kind of game where it's all about memorizing levels and maximizing your score. I expect it to be great.

i'm still trying to figure out what any of this has to do with hypocrisy though. in one thread many people loved what they saw and in this thread a lot of people dislike or criticize it. it's not like they're the same people.Cauliflower of Love said:Bingo.
SolidSnakex said:That's more like 2D Sonic though isn't it? Those weren't about exploring they were about getting from the beginning to the end of the stage as fast as you can and this is what this Sonic does. But for people that don't like this style there's still the PS3/360 Sonic that does seem to be in the Adventure style, including all those extra playable characters that people love to play with instead of Sonic.![]()
SaggyMonkey said:Don't be fooled by the video. It looks nice, but was easily the least fun of Wii demos on display. They've watered down being sonic, to just moving him left and right and jumping over obstacles. (no more interesting gameplay-wise than Breakout)
There's no exploring at all, which was key in the 2d games.
Error2k4 said:damn, if you consider the sonic adventure games fun... uh... wow.
Magicpaint said:Exploration is a key in the 2D games?
I must have been playing Sonic wrongly then. :/

Biohazard said:pretty much. Sonic 3 & Knuckles was fun as hell searching evrything out. As was Sonic Adventure, I liked trying to find different things to do than "OmG GET TO THE END!"
Magicpaint said:I actually prefer racing to the end of a level as fast as possible.
If I want exploration, I wouldn't be playing Sonic. That's me.
I agree, I leave exploration to Mario games. Sonic is all about blazing through levels.Magicpaint said:I actually prefer racing to the end of a level as fast as possible.

he meant 2d Sonic games.Your earlier statement makes it sound like you wouldn't play any 2D platformers for exploration.
You must not have done a lot of exploring in the 8 and 16-bit days.

Snaku said:QFT, this game looks great. Easily better than the mediocre to just plain bad Adventure games.
Kaijima said:I really have to give them points for trying, based on that video.
But, it doesn't look good to me at all - the 3D speed stages in Sonic Adventure, and /especially/ in SA2, make have looked on rails but required a lot of precise timing, skill, and navigation. They were also broken up at just the right time by a touch of platforming here and there - which is what the 2D games were REALLY like. People must just be remembering the 2D games as hitting a zipper and flying through a couple of corkscrews. Sorry guys, 2D Sonic is FAR more than that.
Unfortunately, Wild Fire looks as if they had a good idea, but nobody at Sega can still program a 3D action game worth a damn. Sonic looks super floaty with physics straight out of Sonic R, it looks bad the way you just... stop... when hitting an obstacle, and the most of the demo just looked way dumbed down to me.
Again, they get points for trying, especially with using Wiimote in as simple a way as possible.

You just move left and right by tilting the Wii and it's completely unintituitive. You jump and if you hit something, you end up pressing against it till you move.
