I always have this nitpicky issue with the snares that Boi 1da uses. Its so weird, but they annoy the hell out of me

Game ft. Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre - Drug Test

Off of the R.E.D. Album.

Haven't listened yet cause I'm watching Evo but I hope it's good and/or has a Dre beat.
Can't wait to hear the final version.

So with the Black Hippy movement, OFWGKTA, Lil B et al. bubbling, is it safe to say the West Coast is on the rise?

I heard Royce and Elzhi want to do collabo LP. Those two together are almost as good as Royce and Em' IMO

Black Hippy won't be that big( not hating, i like them, but it is what it is.), odd future is probably going to hit their ceiling, in terms of popularity, pretty soon. I see Frank being the only real mainstream guy from them. Lil B? Lol no.

Yeah, Lil B's buzz has sputtered after his last release, I think. You're probably right in general, though. In terms of indelible music and posterity, I think Black Hippy has the most potential.

I personally think that Odd Future are going to get even more popularity with future releases as limited as they are. Black Hippy... hard to say. The only one who i really think has a mainstream friendly sound is Jay Rock and i dont see him blowing up for real on his own.

The west coast is definitely doing better than NY, who pretty much just have Shaz, Bronson, and Marciano doin their thing

I don't understand how DJ Khaled got popular.

Catchy tracks, a ton of features and great club music. He is the master of making a crowd move. Can't front on that. "We Taking Over" was great. I can't discount his New Orleans roots and connections though.

Some people do like to dance and have fun while rap music is playing

Not only is he annoying as shit, but he doesn't produce more than half of the shit on "his" album.

Not the west coast I want. None of those artists make West Coast Hip Hop. They all have their strengths and some make good music, but none of it sounds like that west coast sound that is so badly missed.

What dj Khaled brings to the table is his ability to link up all kinds of artists, look at his feature lists- you have all genres/areas of hip hop being brought together... It's pretty unique, and he's able to find catchy hard hitting beats to pair with those artists.

We the best forever is awesome for the above reasons.

That Game/Snoop/Dre song bangs. Does indeed sound like a Khalil creation. A bit short though, even though it's never stops to take a breather. I still think R.E.D. Album will disappoint though, but hype. Bootlegg Nate Dogg on another track still makes me uneasy though..

Headlines is alright, better than his last few attempts. Probably on par with Marvin's Room. I'm not a fan of Drake transitioning mid-verse from Rap into R&B and vice versa, especially when it's pretty sudden. Just like Find Your Love though, the beat is a grower. Take Care will be garbage though, I'm sure of it.

dat Weeknd video. Mah god, both those chicks. Especially the first. Mah gawd.

Yeeeah
My Man.

I've had this song on repeat for the last 3 days, god that beat.

Holy shit after listening to that Top Dawg Under Dog song, I may just check out Long Term Mentality. Along with FMH, as I used to have some interest in Jay Rock during his last attempt at stardom.

Fuck you GAF and converting me to this sacrilegious New West shit.

i know as an MIA local you might feel compelled to say stuff like this, but...cmon man, bringing young money & captain save-a-song weezy to a dude like Ross and getting Akon on the hook didn't take federal clearance; it prolly took a few twitters and a promise to validate parking because they all know the beach will tow your shit in less than a minute.

he's a TS leftover hypeman that screams on 99 JAMZ because a) let's be honest; sometimes MIA wants to be NY so hard sometimes it hurts and b) we haven't had a competent DJ here since, uh, the baka boyz left years back and no one buys satellite radio because it's just gonna get jacked anyway. for real, i voted Uncle Luke for mayor and got love for my hometown, but my boy is a big local DJ at clubs here who 9 times out of 10 has to stay sober enough to hit the play button, and i think that's more work than Khaled puts in on an average day. i know we got some talent down here, kinda bugs me that a "DJ" who doesn't produce his own shit lowers the bar so much, they give him the key to the fuckin' city and he keeps getting credit for whatever. anyway, if you enjoy his albums thats cool, but i'm saying: we can do better. is mr mixx still alive? there you go.

Khaled is like the sniveling little scumbag who acts as a middle man for other people's business deals. He gets artists together because well, somebody has to be the dude who runs back and forth between camps. Anyone could do what he does. He's one step up from a weed carrier.

Is Khaled an actual producer, or is he just a DJ who works for Def Jam South? I've heard him say he wants certain artists on "his" beats

Everything he's ever produced (which isn't much) is generic as fuck and all sounds exactly the same. Basically he made one beat that someone said they liked and he's been using it over and over.

Well, Memphis Bleek has accomplished more in his career than DJ Khaled so I'd say he's one step below weed carriers.

He produces nothing. And he just puts his label on it. I still question who was stupid enough to make him head of Def Jam South, that's not the person you give power and influence.

Khaled has his label on some really good songs, outside of that, he's a talentless, annoying, charisma-less, replaceable A&R dude with an ego that lucked out with the job he got. I find it impossible to respect any aspect of the dude's career.
