I never doubted him for a second! WONDERFUL!
This is pretty hyperbolic.
Maybe Rogue One is like the founder and this is the origin story.
I used to read Devins posts on CHUD in the early 00s. The guy was a real asshole.
So I know this is off topic, but can someone explain to me what counts as official canon extended universe? I know they nuked it all a year or so back, right?
Does my question make sense?
Link? I don't remember him saying any of that.
If anything, JJ Abrams managing to shift the release date back to December was considered a win for him, because Iger did NOT want to come off of May 2015.
JJ Abrams said he was executive producer on Episode VIII literally a few weeks ago.
There's no way this isn't about Rogue Squadron, right? All Space Battles all the time? 120 minutes of trying to get tow cables around AT-AT legs?

He would throw his nose up at anything fun and shit talk mainstream stuff but when some artsy came around he would quickly throw praise behind it.
The force awakens is like the total opposite of the kinds of films he praises (super depressing art house films by weird directors).
If you think the films that Devin praises are depressing and weird, I've got some films to show you.
His top 15 of the year is full of fairly mainstream fare like John Wick, Nightcrawler, Selma, Guardians of the Galaxy, Grand Budapest, and Gone Girl.
It's one of the most mainstream lists I've seen from a film critic this year.
Disney choosing to release Episode VIII only a few weeks after Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is a very odd choice. Guardians benefits from being out first but I really don't understand why they are both in the same month. GotG 2 could have serious legs, like the first movie, but instead Star Wars is 100% going to cut it off.
I wasn't aware that people ever took Faraci seriously.

It isn't hyperbolic at all. He does this stuff all the time. He is constantly writing think pieces or twitter ranting based on bad information. He likes to insinuate things, all non-committal like, and knowingly send people into a rage about something based on bad info. This is pretty hyperbolic.
This is also a guy who literally tried to box a filmmaker he didn't like, and then got clobbered pathetically. That pretty much sums up his whole approach to journalism. Air quotes.
While I'd initially thought that John Boyega was going to be THE lead of The Force Awakens, it really does seem that role is more suited to Daisy Ridley's character. Maybe Boyega takes over in Episode 8. But regardless - this means Star Wars is returning to theaters for the immediate future as a female-led film series. Force Awakens belongs to Ridley. Rogue One belongs to Jones.

How many times is Gareth going to cut away from the action?
I'm sure they will inject some drama.
"I've brought down the AT-AT with my tow cable. If only someone could wrap a tow cable around my broken heart"
JJ just got added as a EP. More of just a title these days.
Is this the first time they've referred to the Star Wars cinematic galaxy? They're definitely going full-on Marvel with this.

Why not? His sources are generally pretty good and on point, even if he can be kind of a prick.
It'll have legs but probably not #1 at the box office for four weeks kind of legs. Did even Avengers do that?
I've followed him on Twitter for years, the guy is pretty direct about who he is and what he thinks, though of course I don't know him personally, which I am grateful for. You seem pretty invested in defending him, which seems strange since most of his fanboys will admit he is kind of a troll. That's part of his schtick, though I think it is an irresponsible schtick for someone with an influential platform. He's the blogging equivalent of a radio shock jock.Yeah it is. You're speaking like you personally know the guy as opposed to just reading his articles. Listing off things about his articles that annoy you isn't actually support for your hyperbolic claims that he has a "vendetta" against JJ Abrams or that he "says untrue things all the time." Hell, your example - that he thought Star Wars should have more women in it, isn't an "untrue" thing - even IF he knew there were more woman roles to be cast.
That was part of the Fantastic Debates section of Fantastic Fest. It didn't originate with him. You're making it sound like it wasn't a planned event as part of a film festival. That's pretty hyperbolic of you.
And yes, Swanberg beat the shit out of him.
I've followed him on Twitter for years,
You seem pretty invested in defending him,
If this is a Rogue Squadron movie I will freak out.
I will gladly take a Wedge Antilles movie.
This and the Jedi version of Seven Samurai is all I asked for in the spin offs.
Masochism. And everyone who writes about movies is often interacting with him and responding to him, so just following him makes it easier to keep up with the conversation. Why?
Alright, so we agree on some things. I specifically said that Faraci vaguely attributes fire-starting rumors to "sources" and publishes them with little information, but enough leading suggestion to help people make their own (wrong) conclusions. That is what I meant by "says untrue things all the time."Not really. I'm calling you hyperbolic. I have yet to try and refute your description of Devin's general persona online. I'm calling your description of his "vendetta" of Abrams, and your assertion that "says untrue things all the time" hyperbolic. I don't have to defend the man's nature to do that. And I'm not.
Unfortunately I think the Seven Samurai Jedi movie idea has been dead ever since Snyder decided to become Lord of the DC Cinematic Universe.
By way of example, he posted a completely unsubstantiated rumor that J.J. Abrams was unhappy and could be jumping ship as director on episode 7.
I don't think it was even actually a thing, just a baseless rumor from the start.
So they're going to pump these out like Marvel movies?
I can dig it.
