Damn guys. Worst feeling in the world. Targeted af. I take care of my mom and she goes to mass from 8 to 9 every morning and that's when they hit, they probably had lookouts too because it looks like they left in a rush. ( stole ski poles and my self made snowboard... but not the skis... wut? ) stole all the electronics and consoles ( expect the Wii U... but they took the screen becuase it was inside my ottoman )... tried to make off with my Sony w900 but it was bolted into the stand. One of dogs was rush off... luckily she made it back somehow this morning... she had been missing all day. What a mind fuck man. This was in suburb ( nicer part of Kent in south Seattle ) . Fucking pieces of shit.

Oh and to top it off, the neighbors saw a uhaul in the morning ( the robbers ) and thought nothing of it. Jesus Christ on a pogo stick. Anyway, going to upgrade the security system, get a German Shepard ( my sisters springer spaniels that just happen to be visiting yesterday are paper tigers lol ). And fuck! I had just gotten my dittos in Pokémon and picked up ff15. Only game they stole becuase it was in the ps4. Anyway. Yeah. Fuckers. At least we've got insurance. But man, makes you not trust anyone.

Glad to hear you have insurance OP. It is truly a godsend during situations like yours. I hope you and your family isn't shaken up by all of this.

Also I'm sorry they didn't take your Wii U. Monsters.

Yep. It sucks. Happened to me and I couldn't sleep for days due to the paranoia and violation of privacy.

Does your insurance cover it?

Also the holidays are huge times for burglaries.

My main impression. Sorry op.

Thanks, yeah I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the Wii U still there. Like, jeez, not even worth enough to be stolen. And the area has been pretty safe otherwise, according to next door a few other places have been hit, seems like a targeted area because it's pretty quiet here any other time.

When I was robbed they only took my playstation systems (PS3/PSP/PSPGo). My DSLite was also a snatched. But my Wii and 360 were not.

This was around 5 years ago.

No lie I had a dream 2 nights ago about entering my room to find out that I was robbed of my ps4, pc and my sound system by a friend of a friend. He left my TV, Wii U and Wii U gamepad alone though.

My dreams feel to real at times that when I woke up I almost felt like interrogating my friend on his 'friend's' whereabouts before I realized it was just a dream, and then proceeded laughing at the fact that even in my dreams the Wii U can't catch a break.

yeah I've been robbed about three or four times in my life (losing track lol)... really is one of the worst feelings in the world. Not only do you feel violated but it opens you up to how utterly shitty people can be.

Ironic that most theft falls right upon Christmas season. I mean, I understand why, but stil...

You're in Seattle aren't you? Mind if I ask what neighborhood? We get prowls and burglaries here in Wallingford and it's a mix of professional burglars and drug addicts from the Mayor's failed experiment.

I am, down in Kent ( scenic hill ). It seems to be the same issues down here as well.

Got robbed twice growing up while living in Nepal, group of ex circus carnies who would scale the sides of houses and come in through the second floor at night. Came right through my sister's room, rummaged through the dressers in my room and my parent's room, and then went downstairs to grab electronics.
First time they stole the tv. Second time the left the tv and took the vcr, I guess they wanted to complete the set.

Also got robbed by the police in Argentina. About 15 came into our home and while I was outside turning the garden lights on so they could search for a supposedly armed robber who ran through our yard, they helped themselves to our jewelry box.

It sucks, it's infuriating. The idea of some lazy immoral piece of shit deciding to steal what we worked our asses off to buy. Makes my fucking blood boil. But everything was eventually replaced.

Theres that period after your property has been violated where youre ready to spend thousands on new security measures.
..youre being hasty. The feeling of helplessness will go away after a few days.

Buy a 'This house is protected by something alarm systems' sticker online and put it on your window. Maybe buy an IP camera to put in your living room. No need to do more.

I've been burgled three times in the last four years. This last time, they cleaned us out. Thankfully, we had insurance this last time, too. It's going to save you a tremendous amount of grief. And, if you play your cards right, you'll come out ahead, as you'll discover al ot of the stuff that was stolen isn't something you're going to want or need right away.

Glad everyone is safe, though. You're probably going to be paranoid for a while and have that feeling of not quite being safe in your own home. It's normal and it'll pass.

Automated motion detection lights too. Can be solar powered and simply screwed on. You can also set up motion triggered radios and stuff. Just make things less appealing and unless they've carefully cased you they'll move to an easier place.

Greener pastures.
When you get that kind of insurance, how do you document all your things? Do you have to have receipts for all of them? I sure as hell dont have receipts for everything in my house. What is to stop someone from documenting all kinds of shit they dont own?

I just dont know how this works but Ive been interested in it.

Got a knock on the door one evening and I thought it was my roommate cause he always left his keys. I opened the door and it was two dudes with guns and they charged in and pushed me to the ground. They were yelling about cocaine and they meant to rob someone else in the complex! I was shook and told them don't kill me and take whatever so one guy went upstairs and took my MacBook pro that I was still paying off and had all my college work, my Wii which was new at the time, and my of iPhone!

Sucked man I would stay awake at night thinking about different ways I could've killed them and had to drop a semester if classes and delay my graduation.

I know how you feel.

I know people will joke because it's just stuff, but a few years back we were targeted. People would break in to our house and steal our stuff and it happened 3 times in the span of a month.

Insurance couldn't even process each burglary before the next incident. It was escalating as well, first it was put some security latches on. Next it was seal the window to prevent it from opening. They kept trying to cut the power to prevent the burglar alarm form sounding and eventually they used tools to smash in the system.

Our insurance deductible was already an excess of $1000 PER incident from previous burglary. By the third time in this string, our insurance company was probably ready to black flag is for insurance at all, so inpreempted that by cancelling our policy after that third incident and moving house.

Being forced to move house because of burglaries is not a good feeling.

The stuff I generally couldn't care less about but it affected my broether and sister and I. Your sense of security is shattered. You double check locks when you leave. You end up thinking about what people can see into your home from the street. You go for security-conscious to security-paranoid. Your trust in humanity drops a few notches.

So yeah, screw burglars. I hope they get some kind of disease and rot in the hell they out people through. Some kind of debilitating disease that gives them long enough time to live, but they're in excruciating pain. DIE

Edit: oh, in my string of three burglaries, they didn't take my wii either. Brother's Xbox, my PS3, GameCube.....gone. But left the wii.

Yes, it is. I'm sorry it happened to you.

Thieves steal the most random shit.

About 10 years ago my house was broken into. They took the TV, the 5-disc DVD player, a couple of cameras.. completely ignored the literal wall of DVDs that you'd think would've been easy to fence. The only DVDs they took were the ones that were in the changer when they stole it.

Fortunately, we had a good homeowner's insurance policy that replaced most of it.

A good insurance policy >>> a good security system. It's just stuff.

EDIT: being targeted repeatedly is some next level scary shit tho. I didn't mean to be dismissive.

Well they didn't charge me for the semester at least but I couldn't stay in that complex anymore and had to move. It was just too much trying to catch up on school work after that.

I also had to goto a lawyer and have them write a letter to the property manager to break my lease and then they tried to keep my security deposit! Had the lawyer send another letter and they refunded me since they couldn't justify why they wanted the deposit.

Luckily I had good credit and was employed so I could find a new place. Getting robbed fuckin sucks though and I was in a nice enough neighborhood. The apartments were an entirely different beast though.

I was burglarized a few years ago. They went to great efforts, if you ask me.

1) They tried our front windows, but they only opened about an inch before the locks kept the windows closed.

2) They got on top of my detached garage.

3) They lept from the garage to an aluminum canopy that overhung our back patio; this was about a four foot leap.

4) While on top of the overhang, they climbed over the fencing that went around our back balcony - they broke the fence in the process and likely near fell off the second story.

5) They cut the screen on the outer Strom door to unlock that door.

6) They then tried to smash through our thick glass door that was behind the storm door; they crushed through one pane of glass but gave up before getting through the second pane.

7) They eventually just kicked in the entire door frame to get into the house.

Stole about $1,100 worth of stuff, but I had insurance which allowed me to recoup $700 after my deductible. I didn't replace it all since much of it was stuff I no longer needed and in fact had planned to sell (I had a few boxes of DVDs totally boxed up with a seller lined up... Ended up getting more for them through my insurance than I would have selling them to my arranged sale).

Burglars are assholes though.

Sorry to hear OP. Thankfully no one got hurt. I can't say I've ever been robbed like that, but me and a couple of buddies were robbed at gunpoint for a pizza a few years back. That was something @_@.
