I don't know. I think I am tied on a few that really creep me out. Makes me want a proton pack. :lol

For sure man. I was reading these late last night in bed on my iphone so it was especially spook-tacular. I'm loving this thread, hope it keeps rolling!

Being rational is great. I would like to think I'm a very rational person. However, being rational and so closed minded you are not open to possibilities is completely different. Maybe most of these stories can be explained, and maybe they are bullshit, but they are fun to read and make a great thread, while at the same time letting people see that there may be more to the life than the "I only believe if if I see it with my own two eyes" mentality everyone has now a days.

I was with you until the last part. Here's a bit of Hume to explain why - generally - believing testimony is less favourable to being skeptical:

Hume said:
When anyone tells me, that he saw a dead man restored to life, I immediately consider with myself, whether it be more probable, that this person should either deceive or be deceived, or that the fact, which he relates, should have really happened. I weigh the one miracle against the other; and according to the superiority, which I discover, I pronounce my decision, and always reject the greater miracle. If the falsehood of the testimony would be more miraculous, than the event which he relates; then, and not till then, can he pretend to command my belief or opinion.

Theologians usually debate philosophers over the principle behind it but on the whole I think it's the way to go.

I still love hearing spooky stories though, and always go on the ghost tours when I go on vacations.

I don't really believe in ghosts, although this thread has been an interesting read. I just think that the mind can play some powerful tricks on people. Especially like another poster said, when you are young and/or semi-conscious. I've never had any experience like the ones mentioned, and I am wondering if that is borne out of the fact that I am skeptic about the whole phenomena. In other words, because someone believes these things are ghosts, they become ghosts in their minds. Not saying this explains everything, but it makes me wonder.

That being said here is my only ghost story, it happened to my wife. When we were dating we would stay at each other's places until late at night. The drive to each other's houses went through some pretty rural areas, at one point passing an old gristmill that has been around for over 200 years. While passing this mill late one night, she swears she saw what looked to be a little boy run out into the street bouncing a ball. She started to brake and swerve, but as she got closer the boy disappeared.

From then on, every time I drove passed that spot late at night I would get a little spooked. Never did see anything, I almost wish I had though.

I was 12 I think, and was home alone. It was the middle of the day and nothing out of the ordinary was going on. I heard a bedroom door slam pretty hard and figured it was the wind because that happened alot. But then I heard it again. And again. That was weird because with one good slam a door should be latched.

So I went to the door in question an took a look at it. It was fully closed and latched. But then I got a chill, and felt very afraid. Right then, all the doors in the two story house started opening and slamming shut violently. All at once.

I ran downstairs, towards the front door.... which opened itself as I ran towards it.... ran out and down the street for three blocks.

I've talked about sleep paralysis with people on another forum, and I have to say, respect. Scariest shit ever. I've heard numerous stories from people claiming to have been woken up, and someone was sitting on them, choking them, and there's nothing you can do. Freaky shit man.

so during my college years I lived in the dorms. I've heard this story from a friend; midnight, a girl living just a few blocks away was having her beauty sleep, she was sleeping sideways, in her arms she was holding her favorite stuffed bear, sleeping soundly.

As the night went on, she felt that she was being restrained, she couldn't change her position, she opened her eyes slightly, it was blurry as she was disoriented but she could notice something red in front of her, "what is that?" she thought to herself.

it felt soft, like a piece of cloth or something, upon further examination, it was actually.. a pair of.. hands in long red crimson sleeves.. the hands were pale white but the finger nails were as red as blood. She was paralyzed, she didn't know what to do; she tried to trace the long sleeve behind her but couldn't fully turn her head, something was embracing her from behind, she could felt her back cold as ice, it was holding her teddy bear, the more she tried to retaliate the stronger the embrace would be, at this point she has gone into shock, at the corner of her eye she could see long strains of black hair, she felt a cold chill beside her right ear, it whispered to her "la.la...lalala..la.." as if it was singing a lullaby to put her to sleep. of course, she didn't sleep at all that night, the next day she moved out of the dorm room.

was it the bear or her that was attracted by it? no one knows

I remember I was scared to death for years by this story that happened to a family we knew when I was growing up. This girl went to some school where there was a group of other girls who practiced witchcraft and stuff. Somehow she made them mad or something and they told her they were gonna do something bad to her. Then one night she woke up and there was something holding her shoulders down, digging into her skin. She broke free and went into her parents room...and her parents (who told this story) said that something came into their room, like a dark shadow. They started praying or something and it went away.

The next thing that happened to my family was when my youngest brother was probably 4 or 5. He had this rocking chair in his room at the time and one day he told me that the devil had been sitting in it. When we asked for details, he obviously didn't have much...just said that sometimes "a devil" would come and sit there. Then, a few weeks later, he told us he saw to angels, but one of them was very bad. He called it "Rocky Angel" and said it came to take our dad away. My dad was actually having an affair at the time and filed for a divorce not long after this. My mom was really worried for awhile because he kept seeing strange things and she said she felt a weird presence in our house a lot of the time...like just an uncomfortable feeling.

My mom has always had strange things happen to her though, and she's told me a lot of stories. One that always seemed the weirdest to me was when she lived in a house as a teenager. She'd get home from school before anyone and be alone for a bit. But on numerous occasions she would hear a door slam and voices and think her parents or siblings were coming home, but when she'd go to see there would be no one there. Then, about 10 or so minutes later, she'd hear a similar thing and this time her mom or sister or someone would really be home. She told her family, but they didn't believe...until apparently her mom experienced the same thing and maybe her sister too, but i'm not sure. That's just one of many.

It's strange because I haven't personally experience anything myself, but with the amount of stories I've heard coming from my own family as well as other people I know, I know there is something to all this. Anyway, I think I scared myself just writing all this...great. That first story always gets me, no matter how many years later. Gah.

Just read the entire thread, and as I finished the sound went off on my computer and I heard an alarm sound(never heard this sound ever).... O_O

I've told this story many times before and people always would get skeeved out when I tell it, even I do just thinking about it now. Not really a ghost story per se, but it totally screwed with my head.

Anyway, when I was in my freshman year of highschool, I think around 2000-2001 or so, it was summer time and I remember my room would get super hot and usually I'd have my fan on but it broke. So I go to sleep with my window open(there's a screen on the other side of the glass). I remember having a dream that I was behind a killer with a huge knife chasing a girl in a dark forest, and I remember saying to myself "come on girl just keep on running, keep on fucking running, dont look back just run!" Eventually the girl trips and falls, and the killer catches up to her. He raises the knife and is about to stab her in the chest, and right as its about to hit her I wake up in a cold sweat, and all of a sudden, I hear the most blood-curdling scream of a girl in the distance outside my window.

It was in the distance but you definitely hear it wasn't just a normal scream. I remember I shut my window so damn hard and closed the blinds, turned my light on and watched TV for the rest of the night. In the morning I was watching the news and a girl had been murdered in my neighborhood, I didn't know her since she was from another town, but it totally messed me up.

I will never ever forget that, and the same day I went out and got a new fan, and I never sleep with the window open anymore.

It's kind of hard to explain, but I know that if I hear a sound when I'm asleep, for the briefest of moments the same sound will be present in my dream, only it's attributed to something else. It's almost as if my subconscious hears the sound and shoehorns it into my dream somehow.

Maybe the same thing happened to you? You heard the scream while you were asleep, your brain created a story behind the scream, and you woke up?

my worst is a token ghost story, running up the stairs in my apartment building, pass an old lady in her PJ's going downstairs, get to the landing JUST after the stairs we passed each other, have a funny feeling and look back - no old lady.

Edit: Oh and the high pitched whine story... not so much a ghost story, but it happened more often when I was younger, I would for no reason I could understand, hear a high pitched whine, kind of like the one you hear when electronics are plugged in, but louder. It would get progressively louder for about 5 minutes and drive me freaking crazy then just stop.

This happened in 2006 sometime.

My brother is big on hunting so he hangs with a lot of hunter friends, one of these being his lifelong buddy. As you can imagine these are sturdy practical guys that loves nature and their hobby. His best buddy had this to tell him though of what had recently happened.

They had gotten rights to a region for deer hunting. They had a cabin rented there for the weekend. The man who owned the place (a local farmer or so I believe, owner of the region) asked them if they have a problem with sounds in the night. They ask why and apparently there for as long as the owner has known the place has been haunted. So, they arrive at the cabin and it still being day they go hunting. After the day is over they come back, they make dinner, talk..etc before they all go to bed. Right as they are about to fall to sleep though sounds start coming from the hallway. Creaking in the floor and whatnot. After a short while it starts to become seriously intense and it sounds like there's multiple people running around the house, doors shaking and whatnot. Sleeping in separate bed rooms these guys check outside their doors because it's annoying right, they 'get the joke' they think the others are pulling on them. Of course none of the guys are doing this and as they stand in the hallway they can clearly hear foot steps between them with the floor actually giving in to weight. This being some seriously screwed up shit they get their rifles, loaded and they gather together in one bedroom. They all stay there awake through the night, the running and the loud noises actually keeps going for several hours and doesn't quit before morning. When it finally ends, it's bright outside, they pack all their gear and drive the hell out of there.

I know the guy through my brother and he's a trustworthy dude, calm.
Anyways, spook stories. If I was to make a realistic guess then maybe I could see the farmer having installed engines and whatnot in the floors and walls but it seems like a lot of trouble to go through. Creepy though.

I was playing Marathon with my brother on a local Appletalk network in my dads office, many years ago.

It was just the two of us.. but all of a sudden I saw a third person walking in one of the hallways on the map.. I believe it was "Mars needs women". That freaked me out to no end.

We were playing in a large office building/network, but the game wasn't installed on any other system to my knowledge, and nobody but us was around.

Also, we'd have to actively invite every player in the game. So it shouldn't have been possible.

Rembered some stuff.
When my middle girl was just a baby we got this baby monitor once she started sleeping in her own room. And after a few weeks I started to hear thi sbaby screaming screaming..not crying but a scream/cry of pain etc. So off ourse we freak out and run to her room... she is dead asleep. So we think interference from someone else right? Switch toa new channel... come back up, switch the channel on the receiver.. same cry still there. It would last ALL night. over and over again.
Now if in fact it was someone elses baby we kept hearing wouldnt they want to go to the baby? Then later we started hearing people argue onver the hing could no tmake out the words really, but it seemed to be english, which was weird because we lived in a french speaking neighbourhood in belgium. A man and a woman would argue and tha twould turn in to full out fight shouting.. again we could not really make out the words though.

So here would have fights in the day and crying baby at night..like clockwork .we ended up buying a new monitor. freaky.

Also my dad told me once ( not to many details) that when his best friends died he kept seeing him at certain occasions for many months. Each time seeing a little less until he was completely gone. I am not sure how or what ..but whatever it was like, it made him hate the movie ghost. ( no pottery scene is not the reason LOL)

As far fetched as it sounds, in Ireland you hear of stories of hearing a Banshee from your Grandparents and others (It is an exclusively Irish ghost after all that roams the whole Island), but I have never heard tales of people actually seeing one but hearing it instead.
It is supposed to be a really, really evil/twisted scream, with the legend being if you hear it a close relative or you will die within a year to two year time frame. Spooky, but I have heard from a few people telling me who have had this experience and their relatives have died.

My father was studying with some friends, including my mother, and then he heard a car crash but no one else heard it.
They go outside and 3 seconds later a car crashes.

Personally, I just dreamed a few times about something specific happening in a soccer match and the winner 1 day before the game.

I remember when I was little I was sleeping at my grandmothers, I was like 8 years old or something.

One night, I woke up (although this was a dream, most probably) because I had to pee. I walked through the room, outside the door and right in front of the door was the staircase. I looked down and saw that everything was black, like pitch black. And then weird black creatures, looking a bit like those enemies in Kingdom Hearts only then not invented by Disney but by Christopher Nolan, climbing up the stairs and grabbing my legs. One did grab me and let me fell down. I was lying against the wall with the beast on my leg when I "woke up".

Nothing scary, except for the fact that I was actually lying against that wall, and I was well awake.

But I'm a little creeped out after reading this thread.

One time at the end of a ghost tour in this little town, I walked up to this tiny fenced-in cemetery with only 2 or 3 headstones. Everybody else was lingering around or looking at other things, so I was walking by myself. As I was walking up to the fence, I heard the metal gate open and slam shut, but it never opened. And 2 seconds later I felt someone run into me and their shoulder hit mine. My friends literally watched me fly back a few feet. It was some fucked up repugnant shit.

People came to my grandma for psychic readings and shit, so I've seen a lot of shit. Let's just say I have the propensity to experience this type of shit because I was taught to be open to it.

Just found a website on hauntings in my area, and other people saw a weird fog coming out of these graves.

If you guys want to get really freaked out, Google the Lemp Mansion in St. Louis. It's always rated in the top 5 most haunted places in the US and it's 10 minutes from my house. The Lemp family owned this huge, beautiful house and a brewery, and the buildings were connected by a cavern. The house is completely haunted. It's a restaurant now and a hotel, and people spend the night and see some freaky shit. The caves aren't open to the public anymore, but people will sneak in and find huge swimming pools and other random stuff.

Also, the real boy (yea, not a girl) that the movie The Exorcist was based on was brought here to be exorcised. You always hear people talk about the hospital where it happened, but I found out last night that the boy first went to his uncle's house. Apparently it's across the street from my university and I never knew it. Tonight's my bachelorette party, and we're going to the casinos, but afterward, I made this crazy route home. We're hitting up that house, a sanitarium they also took him to, a haunted cemetery, Lemp Mansion, two haunted "rehabilitation" centers (I'm pretty sure for mental health), and two haunted schools. I'm going to take hella pictures and see if anything appears in the pictures. OHHH it's going to be great! I'll report back with pics
or my bachelorette party never happened, of course
!

Those sleep paralysis stories are very interesting to me as I seem to suffer from something in the same vein, but in a different manner.
I've had this for many years now and I even remember having one of these "dreams" when I was no older than 6-9 or so.

What happens to me is that I seem to wake up in the middle of the night and I'm in my bed, but I am still experiencing things that are obviously dreams.
The best way I can describe this is that I'm half awake and still half asleep.
I can see everything clearly and have complete control over what I do.
So I see everything around me like it actually is in reality, but at the same time it's like there's a dream layer on top of that, where all kinds of weird stuff is happening.

These vary from piles of snakes in my room, to spiders (huge ones or the regular big sized ones), to colored lights zipping through my room from outside and pass through walls and any other object that's in their way.
For some dumb reason I remember that I had to avoid those light touching me or something very bad would happen. :-/
There have been so many of these instances that they all blur together and I can't seem to accurately recall most of them after a couple of weeks.

There have been spirits/monsters/beasts/etc.
But the one constant is that I do experience these things as real life until 10-15 minutes afterwards, when I get back to 100% awake and 0% sleeping, or whatever it is that is going on with me.
I often throw my blankets over "them" and jolt out of bed as quickly as possible, scrambling to turn on the TV or get to the door to turn on the lights.
Sometimes even taking my bed covers with me when I "escape" my room only to fully wake up several minutes later in another room thinking: "oh boy, it was one of those again..." before heading back to bed.

My mother always said I used to sleepwalk all the time when I was living at home, but I'm not sure if it can be considered sleepwalking when you know exactly what you have done and where you were going.

These used to freak me out in the beginning but after so many instances I guess you get more used to them...sort of anyway.

I have told this to a couple of other people before, at the risk of being ridiculed. Simply because my curiosity about these things and the possibility of finding others who have these experiences as well outweighs the possibility of them thinking I'm nuts.

The one I still remember from almost 25 years ago was that I woke up in the middle of the night and was compelled to go to the living room. This was in the old house we lived in so the living room was on the second floor.
I sat down on a chair besides the window and looked outside as I heard howling. Beneath on the driveway were 3 raging wolves trying to get to me, jumping up against the wall trying to claw their way up, getting higher and higher.
My screams woke up my mom and she came to get me out of there and back to bed.

One of the most interesting ones for me lately happened 2 years ago.
I woke up in the middle of the night again and knew someone or something was in my room.
Now I live alone and my cat sleeps downstairs, so that's quite unusual.
Instead of turning on the tv to have some light I can only find my cellphone, so I try to light the room with the tiny, badly lit screen (think old DS screen).
What I see is a figure of a woman with long dark hair and some kind of nightgown I suppose crawling on her hands and knees from the door which is closed, to behind my bed.
Now my closet has one door with a full sized mirror, so as she disappears behind my bed I look into the mirror and see her crawl a bit further.
At this point, and I don't have a clue why I didn't freak out, and my honest to God reaction was: "I can see you..." in a drawn out voice (but in Dutch) before I laid down again and went back to sleep.

This occurrence freaked my best friend out much more than myself when I told him at work the day after.
I somehow found it funny that I would react in such a way when seeing something like that.
I guess I have had too many weird experiences already...

Now the thing that really did freak me out was when I was watching the movie A Tale of Two Sisters about a year later.
There's this one scene in the one girl's bedroom with a woman crawling from behind her bed that reminded me almost exactly to what I had witnessed before.

The thing is at the time I had that experience I hadn't seen a scary movie in a long, long time, and I'm absolutely positive that I had never seen a trailer of the film or anything like that before.

And like I've said, many strange things have happened in this house in the last decade and a half that I lived here.

One night when I was watching tv, I got a call. Turn down the sound from the TV and continue the conversation, all of a sudden I hear shattering of glass coming from the bathroom.
My first thought is that my cat knocked something over, but he's laying besides me on the couch, freaked out even more than I am from the noise.
So I go into the bathroom and find that the glass bowl which surrounds the ceiling lamp has fallen down, and is broken in pieces.
The weird part is that it didn't just fall out as it's a screw in bowl, instead the whole ring seems to have cracked unevenly all around and the bottom part just fell down.
Could have been from the difference in temperature that made the glass crack, but it was there for 13 years without any trouble and the light hadn't been tuned on all day.

Another instance occurred when I was lying in bed late at night, around half past 12 I figure, playing Picross with my headphones on. So I'm fully awake for this.
All of a sudden I hear a continuous sound coming from the corner in my room at the side of the outward wall, 2nd floor, since it keeps getting louder, I take of the headphones to see if it's actually coming from there.
I shine the light of my DSL into the corner, but can't see anything there.
So I sit there with my back against the wall in bed, waiting for the sound to stop.
It sounds somewhat like the sounds the mother makes in the movie Ju-on (yeah, I know :-/ ), but more mechanical or something.
Now I have a satellite outside which can be turned, but the motor doesn't make a sound like that at all.
So against better judgement I decide to go to the window and I open the drapes as quickly as possible, and all of a sudden the sound is gone.
I open up the window and peak around the corner, but there's nothing there.
Haven't heard it again ever since.

And then there are the nightmares...

A had an experience last year that I can't quite explain:

Home on a Saturday afternoon, along with my mum.

I was in my bedroom and my mum was downstairs in the living room. A shout came from downstairs, asking if I needed anything from the shop to which I replied no.

Not long after this (five minutes or so) I decided to run downstairs and pour myself a drink. I did so and returned to the bottom of the stairs, to look up and see my mum walk into the bathroom at the top of the stairs and close the door behind her.

I assumed she was just getting ready before she went out so I continued on up the stairs, taking a few sips from the glass.

As I reached the top and turned to walk along the hallway, I heard the front gate bang so I stopped and peered down to see who it was. The front door opens and who walks in...my mum with a few bags of shopping.

At this point I am covered in goosebumps, slack-jawed and frozen to the spot.

My mum walks into the kitchen, leaves the bags on the table and comes out into the hallway to hang her coat up.

Me : How long have you been out?
Mum : I left just after asking if you wanted anything, why?
Me : So who else is in the house?
Mum : What?
Me : Who is in the bathroom?
Mum : Are you all right?

At this point I've opened the bathroom door, and of course...nothing.

To this day I can visualise the entire event with great clarity, I know exactly what I saw.

This is stupid but real, it's a PC ghost story!

I was at my friend's place, and he recorded in .wav format a tune from Bone Thugs N Harmony (I'm not into rap but he is), so he could play it backward. So he starts to play the tune, it's some tune that has backward lyrics so he wanted to hear what it says, and as the tune played a vase with a rose in it at the other side of the room, which had been on a square table there for a long time suddenly fell on the ground! There was no wind, no earthquake, nothing. It just fell right off the table suddenly as the tune played backward! It had been there for a while like any other piece of furniture in the house.

Weird. My friend freaked out, took the CD out ran to his sister's bedroom, put some "holy water" (some random perfume or whatever) on it and hid inside his sister's drawer:p

Well I don't believe in ghost since most cases are based on self-paranoia/self-delusions/drugs. Also, house creakings and such.

But it was weird when I turned off the monitor of my comp last thursday and all of a sudden I heard it turn on and off repeatedly. In my mind, I was thinking, "Holy shit wtf!?".

As soon as morning came there was burnt roach between the outlet and the plug.

Well it wasn't as I woke up it was maybe like 5-6 seconds after I woke up. I know what you're saying though. I mean maybe there was screams before as I was sleeping but the one I heard was the only one that I heard. And I know there wasn't any more screams after that because the scream was close enough that you could hear it even with my window pane closed. Totally messed me up either way :(

I was really close to one of my old managers at work. she had lupus. we had gotten so close that she started calling me her son after awhile. I could ask her about anything, be silly with her, whatever. she was great. she started getting really sick but would still come to work and still try to remain as happy as possible even tho she was in lots of pain.

One day she was sitting at her desk doing something and i snuck up on her and popped a balloon. It scared the shit out of her but she thought it was so funny. She told me she would "get me". Not too long after that, maybe 2 months she passed away. She was very religious and had no fears whatsoever of dying. She'd always say he'll take me when he's ready.

At her funeral I was afraid to see her in her casket. I was sad, teary and didnt know what to expect but when i saw her it was so strange. It wasnt her laying there. It was just her body. A shell. All i could do was smile. I dont know why but i felt at ease.

Not even 2 weeks later I'm coming up the stairs after work to check my mail. got mail, turn around back toward the door what i just came thru and there was a balloon. Just floating in one spot. Not up, not down, eye level. I thought for a second ok where the F did that come from? Then i remembered the balloon from a couple months back and giggled and smiled. and as i did it started to slowly float up. She had gotten me just like she said she would.
Wow, that is such a sweet story. Wait a minute, they're supposed to be scary, are they not?!

Anyway, here's my story.

My family owns a small piece of land and an equally small cabin in France, near Cote d'Azure. When I was little we often spent our holiday over there. The place was beautiful and the neighbors friendly.

So several years later, after not visiting the place for a long time, we went back to see if the cabin was still habitable. So we got there by car. The sun was already setting. Everything seemed smaller, the tares in the garden were dry and the cabin was covered in dirt and leaves.

We entered the cabin and everything was dusty. It was very dark and didn't seem like the comfortable place we used to love. We wanted to go upstaris but it was extremly dark and the atmosphere was really tense so we decided to get there by using the other entrance.

My brother tried to open the door but the lock wouldn't open so he tried to remove the key. This was where we started to get scared. Why couldn't we get into the upper part of the cabin? Hastily my brother tried to pull out the key and when he mentioned my father (who passed away years ago) suddenly the key slipped out of the lock.

We got the fuck out of there as fast as possible.

Okay, here's one of my own.

I was at my grandmother's house, watching some TV (was probably like 11pm) and all of a sudden, out of the hallway something made of a bunch of different colors walked out, looked at me (while walking), and then walked through my grandma's wall. It happened so fast I didn't even have time to be scared, my reaction was more like "Wtf..."

I went and checked my grandma to see if she was okay (it walked through the wall into her room). She was fine.

To give you an idea of what it looked like. Have you ever stared at a light bulb and then look away? You know that weird effect you can still see after? It was like that, accept made of a bunch of 'em.

Was weird.

Okay. Let it be known that before this incident, I never really believed in ghosts, laughed at the prospect of it, etc.
I grew up in an Asian family that does nothing but tell ghosts stories and legends, etc. Most of my family are Buddhists and believe in near total superstition. I watched my fair share of Asian horror which are pretty laughable even by standards back then. Despite all that, I still have a clear mind when it came to hearing about them. Nothing really fazed me.
Anyway, my aunt moved into a house I guess because the previous renter moved out due to supernatural causes. She basically wanted to see what's up and got the place for cheap because of the fact. I at the time wasn't aware of anything, it's just a normal house to me. I was just visiting and having a sleepover. Her and her husband left me alone one night to pick up other family members. Just for safety purposes and because the neighbor was a macho man, I had the main door open but screen door locked. I was watching a tv show at the time and all of a sudden a glass fell out of the cabinet. I was freaked out just based on the fact nobody was around and it was near impossible even if there were an earthquake for it to fall out. I of course, ran out the door leaving the tv on and ran to the neighbors. He came by and looked at what happened and couldn't figure it out himself. My aunt arrived later and got the story, but instead of supporting me, she scolded me for letting him in and not having someone else home with me which is irony since she knew I was going to be alone anyway.
That incident didn't sink in just yet.
Another incident occurred later. I was there in her house alone again. This time, I was using the bathroom and got a few knocks on the door. The typical thing to do is to ask who's there. Which I did. But I never got a response. After leaving the bathroom and checking around the house, I was baffled. This incident was over and wasn't brought up again till later.
A different time later, with all family members in her house due to a party, another incident happened. My grand-uncle witnessed a similar incident happening to him. He was just standing around the cabinet area when a huge glass bowl fell. The thing was like 10lbs so it was near impossible for the wind or any kind of door slamming, etc to knock it down. And, what was really kind wtf was the shapes the glass were busted into. Typically, you'll get random sizes but these were broken into near perfect squares. There were hundreds of pieces.
After that, my aunt basically revealed all. She said she only rented this house because it was cheap and was/is haunted. Turns out the original owner died in his sleep and had something happen with him and his wife at the time. Nobody knew what happened to her at that present time. My aunt also revealed that she had her feet cut during cooking because of a fallen knife which she said she herself did not accidentally do. And while there certain people were having nightmares and such of the a man whom we all found out to be you know. I told her about all the stuff that happened to me and she understood. I didn't notice at first until I found it was haunted but the house was extremely cold. And we're talking summer here with a heatwave outside.
I never really visited again and my aunt moved out later having said there were even more bizarre incidents. We had a traditional buddhist thing where monks are present to chant and bless the house beforehand. Certain people made threats to him (yelling into the blue) before using the bathroom in case he tried to do anything funny.
Before leaving the house, my aunt did tell the new people everything. Of course they laughed it off despite believing in ghosts themselves and we never even went near that street ever again so who knows how they lived.
These things may sound simple but I have a pretty strong and clear mind and if something weird happens, then it is exactly that. Even till know, I'm pretty intrigued by horror, folklore and everything because of basically everything leading up to staying there and etc.

Holy shit dude....

I've got a ton of stories to share. Some from myself, others from friends and relatives...

... for now I'll share an experience from myself when I was living at a sharehouse at a beachside community. By the time this incident happened, I was the only person living there... the other 4 people had randomly moved out to new places or even countries.

It was 1am in the morning. I was wide awake in bed propped up on a pillow, reading a novel. Feeling sleepy was a good hour or so away. Casually as I was turning to the next page a loud BANG!!! erupted from a downstairs room. The house literally felt the shake of the impact. It sounded like something quite heavy like a fridge had been flung onto the floor.

"What the fuck was that?!" I said obviously startled, "... Ah fuck. I'm gonna have to check this out." So I went to the kitchen to find a weapon incase it was intruders. All I could find was a wooden spoon - so I held that pointy end up!

Room by room I had to switch on the lights to check if anybody was in there, leaving the room the noise came from last... as I was dreading going in there the most.

The time came and I switched on the light to that room. Nothing! It was completely empty just as the roommate left it! Nothing was there to indicate that something had been pushed over to cause that crashing sound... I was slightly relieved.

I came back to my bedroom after turning off the lights, deciding I should get to sleep. I turn off the bedroom light and as I adjust to my sleeping position I hear a breathy "sigh" let out from the corner of the room - just feet away from my bed and my head...

"Ah fuck..." I put my head under the blanket like a kid and forced myself to pretend that just didn't happen.

so you hear a sigh at the foot of your bed and you pull the sheets over your head and try to sleep? Wtf what if that was actually someone in room getting ready to smash your head in.
Edit: My cousin told me a story that he says happened to him. My aunt and uncle live way in the country so when night time hits its dark as hell. Well my cousin was driving back home and he was going down some dirt road hauling ass. He said his headlights caught two red dots in the distance and when he got closer he said they turned out to be eyes. Well he slams on his brakes as this figure comes into view. He tells me whatever this thing was leaps right over the truck. When he comes to a dead stop he looks back and sees this thing with its legs going thro the bed of truck. Needless to say he hits the gas hauls ass home. He said whatever it was it looked like it was seven or eight feet tall. His truck at that time was an isuzu pup its a pretty small pickup. To this day I believe him only because my cousin isn't the type to BS people about stuff or make up crazy stories. Guy's an eagle scout and was a Sargent in the army guy is tough as nails.

The room was completely empty when I turned the light off, no one was in there. and there's no place to hide. The space between the wall, the edge of the bed and my head is the reason I have posted this in a ghost thread.

I believe in ghosts, but I've never seen any
My family and my relatives have had several experiences though, I'll write about them later.

It may have been an extradimensional being (some sort of alien?)

Fuck! That sounds EXACTLY like Mothman!

On November 15, 1966, two young, married couples from Point Pleasant, David and Linda Scarberry and Steve and Mary Mallette, were traveling late at night in the Scarberrys' car. They were passing the West Virginia Ordnance Works, an abandoned World War II TNT factory, about seven miles north from Point Pleasant, in the 2,500 acre (10 km²) McClintic Wildlife Station, when they noticed two red lights in the shadows by an old generator plant near the factory gate. They stopped the car, and reportedly discovered that the lights were the glowing red eyes of a large animal, "shaped like a man, but bigger, maybe six and a half or seven feet tall, with big wings folded against its back", according to Roger Scarberry. Terrified, they drove toward Route 62, where the creature supposedly chased them

A kid I used to work with would tell me stories about his house being haunted and they would usually have to do with loud noises with no explanations. You were probably getting creeped on by a ghost while you were sleeping.

I've always believed that ghosts were echos from the past or future (because our perception of time being linear is merely an illusion) and in some cases supernatural entities could be glances of extra-dimensional entities passing through our plane of existence.
