Nintendo has a hard fight ahead in the U.K. Good luck to them.
Wii was different, lightning in a bottle. Nintendo did great: rifht product at the right time with the right software. See below though:Blame Wii U and not the market because like UK everybody else didn't buy it... if Nintendo makes a console that the market wants to buy (like Wii) then it will sell great.
Nintendo home consoles outside Wii were never that strong here. And 3DS wasn't so hot over here, so even the portable side is declining in the UK.People are correct about the UK never really being big on Nintendo, despite the Wii's popularity. I don't know where some are getting the idea that Nintendo was popular in the 80s and 90s.
The NES wasn't really thing in the UK thanks to personal computers dominating the market in the 80s, the Mega Drive was more popular than the SNES and the Playstation was generally more popular than the N64.
They said that once and then changed the narrative closer to launch.TBF Nintendo themselves refer to it as a console and not a handheld. it's not like they pulled that from thin air.

Is it easy to find a Switch in the UK? Just wondering if Nintendo could've sold more if they shipped more units.
They said that once and then changed the narrative closer to launch.
I remember the N64 launching in the UK with 20,000 units total. I'm glad things have improved.
Wasn't there a rumor that folllow up shipments for march will be low? I think it was Blunty who said there wont be another major restock till April.I definitely think the numbers for weeks 2-10 will be far more important than week 1. This tells me nothing except Switch sold 80k in week 1.
A price cut two months after launch? You'll be lucky to get a Mario Kart bundle over the summer.
Well, Switch is the worst selling console released in March.
PSP 185k
PS3 165k
3DS 113k
Switch 80k
February:
Vita 61k
Mar 2005
NDS - 87K

Decent numbers, expecting it to drop massively due to no big games for some time.
Seems like there's hunger for the machine so that drop will not happen immediately. Perhaps over Summer

Hopefully the triple whammy of Mario Kart 8, ARMS and Splatoon 2 will mean the system can sell decently over summer, but then do games consoles sell well over summer typically?
Depends on when those games release. If it's Mario Kart April, Arms in May, and Splatoon in June then it will be good.Hopefully the triple whammy of Mario Kart 8, ARMS and Splatoon 2 will mean the system can sell decently over summer, but then do games consoles sell well over summer typically?
Comparison with some non-Nintendo systems thanks to ZhugeEX:
250k - PS4
165k - PS3
150k - XB1
113k - 3DS
105k - Wii
80k - Switch
70k - 360
40k - Wii U
don't forget the £100 price cut less than three months later! *laughs*
Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon will probably sell its fair share. But ARMS? Are people expecting big things for it? Geniune question here.

If it's Mario Kart in April, Arms in June, and Splatoon in August it will be a tough next few months
That depends on what the game is. If it has content packed in it that has a good variety of single player and multiplayer features it will do well. If it's a shallow experience with few modes (like SFV) then it will not do well. It needs to have a good mix of competitive play but also some fun party modes to give people to do when not battling one on one.Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon will probably sell its fair share. But ARMS? where you got those numbers?
and we're just talking UK right? some of those didn't release in March in the UK
And yes Mario Kart counts as a new game, most people did not play Mario Kart 8. The average consumer basically had no idea the WiiU even existed.
I don't know, depends how they market it, but I think it will do decent, not huge numbers.

People asked the same thing about Splatoon
Unless they're sensible and start rolling out free demos and in-store promo then I can't see anyone being arsed.
Biggest thing stopping Switch from being a success is the lack of people being able to experience its cool features. It should have come bundled with a free game similar to Wii sports
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not a new game. The WiiU version shipped 8.3 million units. You cant seriously be postioning it as a game no one knew about.
